Its Not a similar Game IT has parts of the Genre but IS Not a copy of Boundless …
I have never been upset with the game. I have been upset with the lack of communication and transparency.
This is already happening…go read up on Steam reviews or just this thread we are talking in. The game is fine, it’s playable, fun and as far as I’m concerned complete, but the lack of communication is what is going to kill the game as it will just be considered abandonware and at this point from a development perspective I’d have to agree. It seems very much abandoned and only the developers and the owners of the IP can change that in my eyes.
I will play the game until the servers shutdown as it fills a void for me many games don’t, but I am not blind or ignorant to the fact that the creators give the impression they don’t care about their community, they don’t care about their game and an honest word or two about plans or status, or lack thereof is better than getting nothing.
Can you please stop the slander. I get you are mad that you didn’t get the game you wanted. I get that you are mad that the Devs don’t listen to you and tell you what is happening. Etc…
But to continue to slander the Devs and make unwarranted comments about WHAT they think or WHY they do what they do really gets old. It is the exact toxic nature that destroyed the game even more than the Devs did.
If you can’t come to terms that the Devs have decided to act this way and not respond for whatever reasons they have (warranted or not) then please stop ruining the game for everyone of us that at least try to enjoy what we DO have.
None of us are happy at all that they went silent… not one person here. But move on and either play and enjoy the game or stop at least attacking them and those that play the game. Please.
If I’m slandering, then you are brown-nosing.
Slander is about damaging one’s reputation, and James is doing that very well all by himself.
Hence, the comments I made are perfectly warranted, following his unprofessional behavior.
James made it quite clear that he has no intention to come back, otherwise he would’ve said so months ago.
My comments are certainly not what’s hurting the game the most, unlike what you’re pretending. I’m not the one who made Majorvex write this thread, now, am I? Despite what some would like to believe, I’m not the one who pushed people to write “goodbye” threads, bad Steam reviews, or asking for refunds.
The fact of the matter is that there is no point in discussing anything on the forum at all beyond actual gameplay things like “I wanna trade X for Y” and “come see my build”.
You don’t wanna read me rambling so much? Stop writing yourself. Your very message is expertly baiting me into writing more. And since you’ve been a pain in my rear just as much as I’ve been one in yours, I owe you nothing, and certainly not silence.
All we know for certain is that they said time was an issue and they are working elsewhere. We don’t know why and none of use knows anything beyond that, nor should we pretend to.
I don’t agree with anyone calling this abandonware, because they have added automated events & patches. The game is live, the servers are still running, the forums are still up and being paid for, the game can be played just as well as it always has been able to. No change there. Nothing has been taken away from the game. On the contrary, things have been added.
Since it is an MMO that seems to be missing a few of the features that they wanted to add, it would be nice to know where that stands. No one is being entitled or unreasonable when asking about it. They brought it up and put it out there for the public’s knowledge.
But when you ask questions to James in DM, you still get no answers?
If he doesn’t answer to you in private, why would he answer publicly to us all in here?
I did not expect a reply from a dev here. I did add “/vent” to the end of my post so it was more of a statement/point (made for several reasons).
True, I haven’t rec’d any PM replies from any dev/James lately. I’m not an employee, so they technically have no obligation to reply to me.
It’s understandable that people are angry or express disappointment. It doesn’t mean everything is bad or broken though, if we’re honest and objective. (I added the previous comment because I don’t like seeing you folks go after each other.)
Edit to add: No, I don’t think players hurt the game. I think lack of consistent in-game moderation, lack of marketing, lack of QoL updates, lack of updated marketing assets (website, trailer, YT, etc), & lack of customer service hurts the game.
I take no pleasure in it either. My beef is with James, and those who come at me, or try to make the disappointed/disgruntled/negative players out as the worst threat to the game’s health, when we are but a symptom, patiently awaiting to be cured by unwilling devs.
Exactly.
Honestly this is why I left, regardless of how overly invested as I was. I hoped this would be my “forever” game.
That being said, there IS potential for a comeback. The genre is stronger than ever and Boundless is far ahead in the frontier of where games are headed. I predict a shift towards games hosting large, seamlessly connected communities geared towards player expression and cooperation and Boundless is built squarely on those principles. Billion dollar tech companies seem to agree, look at the proposal for metaverse, Amazon’s recent game developments, and the continued successes in the MMO genre.
Boundless is well positioned for a revival. But it will take a ton of updates and marketing to ever realize that potential.
The devs are still around. They fixed tge snowball meteors within hours of the event launch and meteors not spawning. They may be slow on some stuff but the important stuff still gets done. A fellow player accidentally bought a planet instead of fuel and it took 2 weeks but the devs responded and refunded him his payment. As far as what’s up for boundless who knows but the more people we get to play it the better chances it will go up on priorities to the devs. Any game I’ve played I didn’t know the timeline for updates but I kept playing because I liked them just like I do with boundless.
You all are because all you do is come into the forums to complain and talk down about the Devs and the game. Any new people or those on the sidelines trying to determine if they should stay actually leave because all they see is constant complaints and negative view points that are filled with almost no facts. Things like abandonware, dead game, etc.
You have every right to be mad at James but you intentionally frame your comments so people will be influenced to think the Devs left the game. That isn’t fair to anyone, including you because it just makes things worse.
We get threads like this from the same people every few weeks for a year now. Let it go - if the game is dead in your view then drop it. All I’m asking is for people to just move on and let those that are willing to deal with the stupid silence from the Devs alone. Allow the new people that join to actually see the community and game play that IS happening. Not be drowned out by all the negative people.
What you don’t get is if you all would be quiet, then the silence from the Devs would be much more noticeable to new players and those around. Their lack of attention will showcase plenty to those still playing and allow them to make a decision for themselves if they want to stay or leave. But people coming in and just making the whole game toxic because they are mad they can’t get a response from the Devs drowns out everything else constantly.
Nothing in that quote is slander. I think you need to read the definition again and really think about what’s said.
I, for one, will never shut up because you or anyone else tells me to. One day powers that be will have their way and I’ll be removed from this forum. Until then, not you or any other player (or ‘leader’ for that matter) will truly silence me.
I’ve fought tooth and nail for this game over the years. I love Boundless. I don’t agree with the TOXIC environment the DEVELOPERS have inadvertently created here. I joke a lot, and I can be wholly inappropriate at times… above all I am hated here… rightfully so. That doesn’t mean I HATE Boundless. If I or any of us ‘negatives’ did, I’d hope we could find something infinitely more productive to do with our time.
Stop trying to control others with your hate and just accept, once and for all, that this situation was birthed from neglect and abandonment. Damage control is a thing, and it shouldn’t be left to the shoulders of would be crusaders speaking out for gods who have long since left them.
I was clearly commenting on a specific set of actions and not telling people to be quiet permanently. I have continued to make statements supporting people’s frustrations and disappointment with the Devs.
The “be quiet” was related to the toxic and consistent down talk because it helps no one and is just a replay of the same junk that has been spewed for months now.
Actually, it is the people constantly complaining about the Devs not responding or needing to run the game a certain way, etc. that are the ones having problems with “control,” “hate,” and the inability to “just accept.” I’m not at all trying to be a crusader here or do any level of damage control. What I am doing is calling out those that consistently come back to this forum and steam to make disparaging statements about the game and Developers. Their views are personal and sure they can say it once or twice, but after many many many times it is really not needed. Those views continually affect the game in a bad way because people quit or don’t even buy it because of that one-sided perspective.
As we have seen due to recent issues, the Developers are here in some form or fashion to keep the game on life support. We don’t need people walking up constantly and trying to pull the power plug and kill the patient just because they aren’t getting what they want or are pissed that the game didn’t materialize into the one they wanted.
As I stated in an early post - there are people that still play and we have a small thriving community. There are people disappointed by it - which is a fair view. But those people can please stop trying to ruin the game for everyone and kill it. Let it just be for those that want to try it (new players) or those that show up daily/weekly to play. The game will either survive or die due to how the Devs handle things going forward.
Just remember, the nerd on the swing stood up for you when you had a long standing issue.
Yeah, that pretty much sums up the typical Boundless ‘community.’
My Only Negative Side For the game… Is the Price. 40€ is a lot In current situation…
If the price would be like 20€ i would be ok… As ive said many times… Theres a lot things To do For a New player.
Yes for Playstation 40€ IS a price Most people want to Pay because they Don t know that Game .
