Love it! I also really like Star Control 2, which is an older game, but still wonderful to play!
Dwarf Fortress is a case in point that graphics in great games are irrelevant. All the characters are short, sturdy creatures fond of drink and industry and only the dwarves know or care what’s under their mail shirt and beard.
What if we give the female avatars stronger, more powerful jawlines…and some long hair?
OR, we keep the current jawline, but give them a more well defined brow ridge?
The females of many life forms are larger than the males. So they would also need large, sturdy feet to support those bulky frames.
I could get behind anything suggested if the promise of a kilt was attached to it tbh
Million genders? 6 arms and ■■■■■ for legs? Mariah Careys face? Np!
Edit/Spheres for legs
Minecraft, the chief inspiration behind Boundless is perhaps the best example of this to date. The most simplistic graphics, yet one of the most successful games of all time.
Why do only females get hair?
I really liked the feline slant on the characters in EA and was hoping we’d be able to expand on that when the game came to 1.0 with individual character customisation. I have to admit I was a little disappointed with what we ended up with.
Very well. My suggested changes stay, except the females get short/spikey hair.
The males get long, luxurious hair.
only if females can get beards too
i think the new people need to go to the art section off dev’s and look at all the concepts

So much variety, those look amazing!
Yes, this!! This is what I was talking about earlier. They are all so beautiful.
And the fish are neat too!
In Everquest your female dwarf could have a beard.
On a side note it’s mostly the diaper that makes female chars unattractive…
I can comment on this.
During development we discussed this area extensively, particularly because as a team we care that all players feel comfortable and welcomed into the Boundless universe.
When labelling the body models we discussed “slim / broad” versus “male / female”. (Might not remember the exact terms correctly here.)
We ultimately chose the “male / female” terms so that it was clear and obvious to players wanting to have a particular form that it was available to them. Particularly because our character isn’t human, we didn’t want players to be unclear that they were getting a male or female form.
Again - this is something we discussed and explored. We had female models that didn’t have the chest wrap. But we ultimately concluded that we didn’t want players to complain that as females they were forced to running around topless.
What if they implemented a 3rd option and we could just call it a stick person so there could be no gender defined or assumed.
Terraria is one of the most popular games on Steam & it’s fun as heck…but it looks like it jumped off a Gameboy lol
I like how the body models are now for the genders and while I wouldn’t mind seeing some alternate models for different body types/weights/etc i’d much rather just see a few new faces added- maybe a slimmer more ‘feminine’ face would be good for those who want a more feminine looking character.
Hmmm…the only thing I could discern from this post is that some of you guys need a girlfriend…
I don’t care either way personally. But I don’t see why we cant have nicer looking females. I’m sure my wife would like more options to custmize her character. I think they were talking about adding faces already.
