Beacon Prestige/Footfall Coin Amounts

Yeah except there were plenty of words between those two things and therefore the second one, being two paragraphs later and you not being clear, might’ve been read as independent of the first statement.

I think it’s less of an issue of the economy being so central, since you can in theory circumvent it entirely by gathering a community of like-minded players and simply pooling resources, preferably with at least one player that enjoys each aspect of the game so that they can focus on doing what they like and so meeting all the various inter-dependencies built into the system (its very hard to do anything else if no one wants to mine, etc)

The problem is, I think, more along the lines of the game being minecrafty enough on the surface to create an expectation that it can be played as a solo game as easily as you can play minecraft by yourself.

It could, I suspect, attract people that are less used to the whole system of inter-dependencies that is built into most mmos (a weapon crafter must depend on someone else, or an alt, gathering metal, and another gathering wood for the handles, and so on) and that could cause some culture shock, I imagine.

I think you phrased that much better than I did, yes. I thought I was getting Minecraft with RPG elements, it turns out I got Voxel Everquest.

This was, in many ways, me.

I have NO problem with the intricacies. I rather enjoy that. But I’m a solo player. I solo Trove, I solo ESO, I solo The Division. I solo Monster Hunter World…

I’m not sure it’s even possible to solo this game.

I currently solo most everything in this game  I thoroughly enjoy it

Well, it SOUNDS like a lot but you get 250 shards out of 18 rough oort stone with a mass craft.
And it’s annoying, and a bit time consuming, but not impossible, to get another 18 rough oort in the 250 hours that the last 18 will buy you, without even fighting meteors, just harvesting dormant ones and sniping roadrunners.

Annoying, yes, but not really insurmountable, and as you progress in levels, it tends to get easier, particularly if you put points into the various Armor skills.

I do too…thus, no portal.

I have portals  just buy some for around 400 ea. I have a portal linked to the metal, coal, and fuel shop in aquatopia

That may be because I like hunting though so I always have spare oort

I have an alt I’m working up as a fighter/gatherer. That should make things easier.

Plus in those other games, the crafting was SIDE projects, and the crafting was EASY to do. The only ‘Difficulty’ in Crafting in a different MMO, like ESO or WoW, was if you were high enough level to fight the enemies in that area.

Taking WoW as the biggest example, The higher level crafting, required items in higher level zones. But GETTING the items wasn’t the issue, the Issue was HOW MUCH of the items needed, to craft the number of items, to LEVEL to the max. And if you were overleveled, or max level, Crafting was a joke.

There are entire guides, on to level from 1 to Max level in WoW, in a single day, and to Max both Main Professions, and all Mini Professions along the way as well.

The same with SWTOR, Kinda ESO, and so on with other MMOs. They were easy, they were never the core feature. Leveling up and fighting were. If you were a low level character, with no money, it’s was literally impossible for you to over craft, and you could only craft, up to the mat that was in your level zone.

This game tho, has the Crafting as the main focus, but instead of keeping the same progression, easy of use, and so on. It swaps them. Crafting, is not the hard grinding you do in the MMO, not leveling up RPG style. Even worse, since there is no progression limits, you can SKIP levels even, unlocking things far too complex and hard for you to do. And even worse, the game took the concept up ‘You need a few things from the other professions’ too literally and to the extreme.

It’s just down right horrible to watch and play.

It is, but it certainly is not easy. It can be very time consuming if you want to solo AND progress at the same pace as those that are pooling their efforts. And it takes a lot longer to do things than if you join up with other players, too.
Juggling a lot of ultra-specialist alts helps a bit to get the ball rolling if that’s your thing. (I’ve been using all 10 for a while)

I have the portal itself set up. It’s just sitting there, waiting for Oort Shards

Do what I’m about to tell you immediately if you want to never have this problem again and sit in piles of your own stones.

  1. make a pure combat character/alt

  2. buy an explorer fist

  3. level it up and put points in to power

  4. put points in to armor(2pnts to start)

  5. get to where you 1 shot basic mobs and 2 shout stout mobs

  6. see how fast you lvl and land in your mid 20s before you realize it.

  7. did I mention while you’re doing this to go to something like lambis and farm meteors and get about 7-13 oortstones each time?

I generally come back with about 100~ stones per outing. You can manage that in an hour if you’re lucky with meteor falls. Sometimes rng with meteors isn’t as good and you’ll only nab 30-50.

Still it’s enough to run your own solo portals and very easy to solo combat to reach this goal.

again it doesn’t matter
since there are not enough money sink mechanics to spend it on.

complaining about football mechanic at this point it’s useless imo
since it seems is working as devs intended.

if coils really are the problem
get 3 points in blast resist
go to serpensarindi
look for this store

let the owner know that you come from christchan
he will sell you 15k each adv coil

At least with old MMO’s, you weren’t tricked into thinkin’ the game had less grind than it really did. With Boundless the game has a great, excitin’ pace, and then as you said, you get dropped in a diamond pit and laughed at.

That sounds like a good idea, I think I’ll try it if only because I like the sound of killing things with a punch.

do you let the community know where is it located?
what it offers, price list, etc?
if you are not near a portal hub or you don’t have a portal nobody will never know that it exists.

set a portal then
talk to any ps hub/shop/city owner and place several portals to your shop/city.

well that’s the point in running your own shop
so you don’t depend on the other requests prices.
actually some people enjoy running around 2345 shops to find a deal.

or if i really need that coin
i don’t mind farming 2000 mud for 2c each block

I am doing it just fine, so are others.

I have 250 shards you can have if you want them. I made an effort to get a mass craft for moving my base but I’m happy where I am now so if you want to open one you can have them. Maintaining it might suck though, which is why I’ve never opened a portal to my shop from any hub.

I’m not trying to be rude here, really. I understand that you like the game as is and have no problems with it. It also seems that you are past the mid-game hurdle, possibly by bomb mining. My whole point was “players should be able to be part of the economy without having to be in the city.” Your solutions of “just be in the city” and “just buy everything” are not helpful to that end.
