Is it the most expensive? I see it ranging from 150 - 250. I couldn’t find a resource that is gathered (not mined) more expensive than bitter beans.

I’d say it’s close to most expensive. Some seeds, plus goo, cost more. And petrolim I think.
It depends on people.
You can see someone buying it 5c.
And then again forgers would buy it 200c or so.
Yeah, started gathering them myself because they are so lucrative - since stardrops form on ice, and best places are on some dangerous planets, does tend to be tricky at times. And they never seem to be REALLY prolific.
Just got a fair number on the new exo, while traversing mountains for topaz spots. 
On the permanents, Alnitans has the highest number, but my favorite gathering spots are on Norkyna, even though the spots are much smaller there - much flatter areas, easier to traverse, and have good gathering spots for other resources nearby that I’ll hit when there. Shouldn’t give this away lol, but right around TNT Norkyna is pretty good! 
Oh, don’t forget to smash up trumpet roots, they can drop all beans, though bitter are rare.
Thnks for the tip. Will do try them. Atm I am actually working on higher level planets, but it’s going preatty slow. I got around 150 in 1h. I need to experiment more with places where I can harvest them.

Go to the besevrona iceplains equip an atlas and gather away!

I’d say Kindling kernels are the most expensive. I’ve seen them go from 150 to 350, there are usually several buyers available at 250-300.
But yes, besides kindling, bitter are the second best.

You just game me an ideea. A plant goes for 100, and it drops 1-4 beans. That is pure gold. Transform 100 into 150 - 600. I might ruin the market for ppl that want to just decorate with those plants. I wander why nobody di this before.
You’d have to go to a t6 to harvest, but yeah.
Can you find stardrop plants for sale in volume though?

For the volume of plants available I’ve never followed through with that idea.
I have posted several times about chuckling when people are selling plants for less than the value of their loot, though.

Those are hunted, but true.
I don’t know about easily. While I was searching for beans I encountered 6 meteors, only one was dormant.
So after running around for 1h, I bought 600 (left around 200 because they were to far and it was getting boring) for around 150c/plant. I have 1145 beans. What is strange is that I was expecting a drop rate > 2, but it was less (and I have the gather and luck skills). If I’ll ever want to sell them, it’s easy 150.000c. But for now I’ll keep them for forging.
I’ll keep an eye out if the stocks go up again, but I think this was an one time thing.
As you enter the TNT upper tier network, on the left are the portals to the other T5 planets, go to Besevrona, then on the left of that entrance there is a portal to our “beaning” hub. You will find 4 glaciers there that are often stuffed with stardrops. We have a couple more to add on but just haven’t gotten to it (and outside the Bes hub is another huge area).
Note: keep an eye out for other farm portals from other groups on those glaciers, they often link to yet other areas for beans)
And Nork is really good too as @bucfanpaka says. Nork has a ton of gatherable resources.

I find a more consistent and higher seeming drop rate when I use AoE to harvest doing that.
I first noticed that I seemed to get better drops from clusters when I went harvesting with an AoE axe and after placing and harvesting a few batches of plants I feel it’s consistent.
I never did any tracking or logging to prove it statistically though
