I’m just going to put this here
Beautifully said review on steam ![]()
Truly a beautifully written review.
Captures a lot of the sense of wonder Boundless inspired in me as well. Although I’ve recently gotten back into both Minecraft and Boundless, MC just can’t capture the atmosphere and feeling that Boundless has for me… my introduction to Boundless recaptured a lot of the incredibly special feelings I had immersing myself in games as a kid that I’ve had some trouble recapturing as an adult. The worlds hold beauty and possibilities, pull you into them as if you are there, I never tired of watching the cycle of days, gazing at the beautiful water and especially at the sky, seeing other worlds complete with things players have built there. Add in some of the most amazing people out there, with incredible talent and heart both, and Boundless is simply an unmatched sanctuary from reality.
It would be great to have this person back. Since I’m more actively doing stuff again, starting to share more again on Twitter, hopefully can pull people in, but only so much any one of us can do with the current situation. I hate for the legacy of this game to be what we see now - silence in response to heartfelt pleas, and shrinking to some unknown death point - as both it and this community deserve so much better. That is why I’ve been (obnoxiously, I know) been plugging the Spartacus idea, as I see it as the one potential lifeline at this point for a resurgence to get the player base where it needs to be… and after the recent leak of potential prices/levels and the negative reactions to them, pretty sure Sony will need all the help/games it can get on there. Anyways, as much as I’m sure I annoy James and some of the others probably, hopefully they at least know that both my hyper-obnoxious-puppy dog enthusiasm and recent rants and laments and all stem from a deep love of this game, and that it is truly hurtful how things stand now. But I’ll keep plugging along, and I’ll never regret a second of it, and it and you all will always have such a special place in my heart!
It seems odd to quit playing a game you enjoy just because there aren’t enough other people playing it.
Boundless cities and portal hubs may not be heaving metropolises, but I regularly encounter other players and the vast majority of in-game activities can be done by yourself. This isn’t some mass-market MMO where you need 40 players to take on a raid boss. So far all of the portals I use regularly are still active, the economy is still functioning, and I get footfall coin each week. Maybe group hunts are in a poor state — I have no idea, since I haven’t done any yet.
Not getting any updates in a year is worrying, but it doesn’t mean the end of the game. I use some other software which has had long periods of no updates, followed by a significant, unexpected update which fixed several major problems. Maybe this will happen to Boundless, or maybe we’ll be stuck in maintenance mode forever, but neither is a reason to stop playing if you enjoy the game.
I’ve never played an online game which didn’t get “game is dying” comments spammed regularly onto the forums and review boards. Not a single one. Yet none of those games have been shut down so far, even years later.
On G2A i just picked this game up for 1 euro for steam… bout to try it now, I was going to purchase it on playstation but seen it was supposedly dead sadly still interested though!
ARK got tons of this in the 2016-2019 time I played it
As someone who’s been playing almost every day since launch, I will say I understand the feeling of emptiness when people leave the game. It might be different if I started playing solo and met a couple people over time who didn’t hang around forever, but going from the group of 6 I started with to 20+ (about 5 months in) all building within shout range set a bar that I have sorely missed since HSE basically dwindled down to 0 over the last year.
I firmly believe that if a good chunk of the players who left out of loneliness came back around the same time, the population cycle could lock into a consistent stride. Won’t get into the details I’ve previously beaten to death on this forum but Boundless has already fixed arguably the worst problems it will ever have faced.
The other broken record I will never stop talking about is the necessity for more things to do within beacons, on the social side. Literally anything is better than the fat 0 we have. Literally anything. A damn RNG command in chat could save the game. Rock, paper, scissors emojis could save the game. Harmless pvp snowball fights by invite… Literally anything that could give us a legitimate reason to stand in one place aside from text chatting would change the entire flow of how players move about in the universe.
To clarify my point, since I’m being a little hyperbolic with the “save the game” posit, there has been a massive paradox plaguing the population since shortly after launch… As a city grows in popularity, thereby growing in population, thereby growing in size, we gradually fall out of shout range from our friends. The absence of activities in beacons means we have no reason to hang out where we had been building, once the builds are complete. They just sit there looking old and boring. Portal hubs are the most heavily trafficked beacons- because they’re essentially highways. Sure there are tons of people on the highway throughout the day but who’s socializing there? I see people at malls a lot but again, I’m there to buy mats so I can go build in my empty city, not hang with buddies.
Ugh I just had a coworker chat me up for an hour and a half after writing all that^… Didn’t mean for this post to be so long but while I’m at it I might as well drop a reminder of the game I invented, which I’m now calling shubble (shortened from shuffleboort). It’s my best attempt at a beaconed activity and I have to say it’s rather legit in its balance of simplicity to difficulty, in the spirit of beerpong. I’ll update my thread about it.
I would totally accept the challenge. ![]()

I’m just on a Mega break I’m a completionast so I wanna 100% Lost Ark then I’ll be back boop
Sorry to see you leave the game I wish you luck in the future.
I saw you on Sorissi today or yesterday
I’ve been all in on Kindred Bay since we recently lost a few awesome builds. Started with an observation tower that’s almost done, so I can plan the city from up there. It’s pretty sweet looking so far.
I’ve been on a 2 week break myself. I just wish the game was as populated as they made it seem in the EA trailer…
You guys and your breaks… and @BabyCookie and his quitting makes me sad.
Me no quit me just on a big break
Goal is to put 10k hours in lost ark then I’ll be back boop
That’s what they all say
If any1 tries to take capital of Houchus I’m gonna be forced to return Mwahahaha
Hahahaha. Good luck to anyone who tries. It would take months to even get close.
I’ve been playing Ark myself. Cant seem to pull myself away from it to come back to boundless, other than filling portals and beacons. (Almost out of oort, I did have 7 full gleam chests of shards, but down to less than 1 chest full) If that’s the game you are talking about. Unless there is a game called lost ark. Plus I can tame or raise animals and ride them haha.
There’s an actual game called lost ark. It’s a isometric rpg.
I miss my pvp days in ark with my PS4 crew lol
