Boundless now self published on Steam

The private servers is intended for you to create and host worlds on your computer, where other people can join and play, similar to a LAN game.

This exactly. I would just go back to nms honestly

my bet is on simply releasing the sword/ multiverse update. last time we heard it was nearly ready, just some issues with the multiverse bit… maybe the solution to that required expiration of the SE relationship, hence the waiting and silence (in that case even understandable) we don’t know (at least i don’t)

a wipe or removing some worlds would be just silly. unles they add blueprint system for us to move our hundreds of hours of work or make something world changing that would justify a fresh start for everyone

Yes, I have done my due diligence on this and researched the forums for hours reading on the update and messing around with test version.

As I stated though, that might as well go by another name as that is not the Boundless that drew me in and pretty sure there are quite a few others that feel the same.

Regardless, if I can put whatever version gets produced on a beefy server on AWS and then have multiple other hosts connect to that server and thus create a new community server I’d be partially ok with this.

Why don’t we just wait patiently and see what happens :joy:

I had that thought as well that maybe something in their contract would be muddied up by releasing of the optional personal universes.

I would love a blue print system, i just don’t know how feasible it really is…

Because hopium has taken over our news starved systems and we can’t help it! Lol

A lot of speculation as as always :joy:

I must say it’s cool to see people getting excited though. Even if they get carried away a bit here and there. :sunglasses:

there are several MC mods for ā€˜selecting an area and copying what is in it’ that make it look quite trivial. all storage content could go to reclaim and the coordinates/ block data isn’t huge.
there could be a size limit for the selection, so larger builds would have to be moved piece by piece, some ghost image preview could be an issue.
if blueprinting is only allowed inside your own plots and you are the only one who can use that blueprint - i don’t see much room for potential abuse

Hmmm, ok. I guess I was just thinking about what to do with non surface level builds, say i build everything underground, would i copy plot by plot? Would it be an entire beacon? Would there be a way to know what has already been copied? Would it be a copy paste? Would i need the materials carried or in reclaim to build it? Or would it just be cut and paste?

dig around the corners and select it room by room I guess
entire beacons as selection would be very messy.
i imagine it like this:
craft a blueprint selector which allows 1 selection (a box), all blocks, rotations, chiselling and colors are saved as blueprint
craft bluperint builder, place it, insert created bluperint, adjust position / rotation, it shows you the area that needs to be plotted, then throw in all the required blocks (maybe some fuel for the builder ?) it would build it plot by plot (so all the multiblock things aren’t placed all at once, it would be mainly used for example for stuff like building 10 of the same column, but it would be possible to move entire bases as well (with the help of reclaim)

Reading this thread makes one thing very apparent. EVERYONE here, Positive … Negative … Right … Wrong … Which is totally subjective, is very very passionate about this game.

I have seen people pop up I didn’t expect to see post again.

Hmm, i see. I guess lego world has a system like that, although block resources don’t really matter any in that game.

I’ve pictured it like this: First, you reclaim your beacon with the blueprint option. The reclaim is designated as a blueprint, allowing you to remove stuff but locking the build option until the mats are replaced. Initial implementation might lock the mats in unless you delete the blueprint, then updates improve the system. Then you place a beacon-like thing (I imagine a drafting table, which would be a cool decoration too) within the same plot that the master beacon control was in (you can move it to an easier plot before reclaiming), or better yet where you placed a corresponding drafting table before reclaim.

All plots are then reserved as they were so you can run around and see the surrounding area. You may choose to move the entire build up to 8 blocks in any direction and any additional plots required are added. Then you have to manually clear out everything within those plots… I don’t see a way around this in the live universe. That solves the underground part. If the bottom row of plots starts on the surface, you may want to plot below it and make necessary adjustments to level the ground correctly.

Finalize the layout. It takes as long as it needs to build and you get to sit and enjoy the timelapse or come back to see it complete. Once all mats are in place, it is converted to a true beacon!

That’s along the lines of how i thought it might work, but it sounds like a headache to program haha.

But seriously, that nonsense can get the heck outta here. and i severely hope that no amount of ā€˜mentioning it casually as a ā€œit’d be okā€ kinda thing’ will change anyone that matter’s mind.

Even if I don’t completely despise the idea of having to do all my building all over again, there’s the central hubs, and more that have become like mainstays.

No … NoNoNo.

No.

James has said many times that there are no wipes after launch.
