Boundless state?

Well anything for me would do it. Like we are working on it or whatever.

I think your question was answered by Penguin up there, then, hasn’t it? There is nothing to announce at this time, but they are committed to keeping the servers on.

She may well still be catching up, and I know that when I’m catching up with things after a vacation, the people who are aggressively asking for a response are always the lowest priority for me if there isn’t a downtime type of urgency to it.

I just choose not to get angry about things I have no control over.

Yeap. Apparently you can’t say anything here anymore. It gets deleted :+1:

Here, @Buugi, I’ll answer for Tiggs:

“As I’ve mentioned over the last, almost two years since we acquired Boundless, there is no update to give. We are committed to keeping the game running but have zero plans to share at this time around updating the game and won’t for at least another two years.”

Hope that clears things up!

Seems quite accurate. Thx

Well i just accept the fact the game is playable, being maintained, and assuming no new content until further notice. Not gone by the way of crowfall. But a game worth returning to.

I have a wild theory.
I’m beginning to think that they want to run off all the old players, so they can do a full wipe and bring in a whole host of new players who have never played the game and want the full experience.
Probably generate a full set of completely new planets for the new player experience.

Thoughts?

It’s an interesting theory, and I have wondered if there’s an attempt to alienate the existing player base, for some unknown reason, but they would also need to have people in place capable of coding any changes and there’s no obvious sign of that being the case currently.

Things can always change, but he did say…

Edit to add: If they make it free to play like he mentioned, there would probably be enough newer players to absorb/dilute the current playerbase. Adding on to the current amount of $ they get from gleam club, cubits, etc. They’d be able to progress into whatever direction they have planned.

Honestly the new forms shouldn’t be more important then the road map and the state of game. I really love the game but come on this game needs to prioritize more important things.

It looks like Tiggs is doing most of the forum update, with the help of our community mods, so I wouldn’t expect a change like this to have any effect on any development that may be happening.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say that community managers, like Tiggs, are often put in the awkward position of not being aware of/authorized to talk about details that aren’t public yet. The job is already a “wrangling cats” position, but having to wrangle starveling cats without being able to promise more than kibble when a whole tuna was promised last year and the year before and the year before.

A forum update, or transition, or whatever happens. Is something that is more likely a convenience for the community that is currently within this years fiscal budget. It isn’t something that “has to happen” but idk how expensive running a forum is, but for all i know they could be looking to reduce overhead by moving to a cheaper or easier to moderate platform (which cut hours maintaining it).

I can tell you there is passionate talent looking to do things in and for this game, but unless there is direction and a clear path for a return on investment, the status quo isn’t likely going to change. The video game industry in general is hemorrhaging devs and talent all over the place. Safe bets, with good/proven returns are all that is likely for the next couple of years for just about every studio both big and small.

Players have pointed out on the forums over the past few months that just a game update won’t bring back old players for long, and they might be right, so you have to bring new players in, which is the trickiest endeavor to do in an established game, but it’s the only investment that is “safe” and it’s only that if it is successful which isn’t something that can be well known ahead of time.

That is the risk of all game development though, so yes I agree, it’s not the update the game deserves, but it’s an update to something and the community needs something right now, even if its minor.

If they made the game free it would be absolute chaos on public planets when it comes to plotting :joy:. But being honest me an all my buddies think that would be there best bet an also… Add the wayfarer totems to gleamclub so I can craft them. It make gc that much better

I agree. And have the collectors edition upgrade for $10-15. Adding the Wayfarer totems to gleamclub would make me want it.

oh no, i’ve felt gross for thinking this. i do try and explore a problem from as many angles as i can think of, and some of them are bad angles, but this angle did fit the circumstances miserably well.

That’s a hard pass for me. Give me a chubby Samoan character like Hunk from voltron and I’ll be happy.

sigh (start sarcasm) yeah, the ‘little delicate woman’ character is such an interesting character … (end sarcasm)
