You know, I’ve never beaconed any of my projects and never been griefers in oort yet. I know it’s happened to others, but I can think of a few security measures we can use while it’s under construction.
I like the biome, but that blue sand is really dark. If it is going to be blue, I would prefer a lighter tone as deserts look a lot better in pastel colors:
I would really love a world that blends these two biomes, along with some kind of mountain too.

That’s pretty similar to the end result I am getting from the nyuudles concept art. Light blue sand would be neat, but it may be difficult to build against. Once we have the world up and running, it will be easy to toy around with color schemes in game. I am pretty stoked to see what they do for us!
Not quite sure what the plan is here. Are you expecting us to craft and put the world online independently? Or is someone in the community going to create and iterate the world first?
Well I’d love to see what you guys come up with A world from the people that created the builder would be awesome!
But I understand if you don’t want to do this because you’re pretty busy atm
IMO we should be the ones to build it (with your help to refine it). You guys have a ton on your plate

I will join if you guys don’t mind? I kinda want to build epic scale buildings on par to those that the Forerunners from Halo created. Massive locations with a large city built up around it, with massive walls built around it to keep the desert and beasts out.
Would love to - I think we should continue figuring out what biomes we’d want.
From there, we can have different folk try to create the biomes in world builder - and stitch them together at the end? It will probably require a lot of finesse to ensure they’re all cohesive together, but I think it’ll work
Food for thought: if this is going to be a universal capital, it should have a biome and building style that the largest number of people can be comfortable and familiar with. At least, that’s my personal opinion.
So, the way the world builder is structured is that you define many biomes; and it will stitch them together via rules you specify (Put a desert biome in low altitudes, mountains for high altitudes, rivers along high humidity, etc)
From reading this thread, here’s a quick summary of all the biomes that folk have talked about that fit into the theme (sorry if I missed any!)
Desert
Wide open expanses of sand, not much else.
Oasis
An oasis. It sounds like we want the capital located in or around one of these biomes.
Rocky Desert
Desert, but with large rock formations
Icy Mountains
Ice-capped stone mountains; very tall, very large.
Mesa
Large, dense mesa (people want large spaces to build on top of; and ideally close enough to connect them)
Bluffs
Large hills that overhang other biomes.
Beach
Some sort of water biome; possibly with large rock formations
Jungle
A jungle. After all, we need some good places to grapple around in!
If you can fit all that into a world that would be amazing.
A question for @lucadeltodecso (I think): Is there a good way of generating bluffs (overhangs between biomes)?
I can get close with distortion, but I can’t make any of the noise functions deterministic enough to always xy-distort a given range of y (that I can tell). I’d be nice to be able to have the biome bias change along the Y axis (is that even reasonable?)
The world builder can totally support that. Whether it actually looks good; I’m not sure (optimistic though!)

Once we have a world crafted, we’ll send it to the devs for polish and they will upload it. Then, we’ll begin some city planning. I suppose we can use this time now to discuss a few things like architecture styles, building features and stuff.
