Embrace. The quarantine period will be extended for quite a while. New corona strands linger as airborn for much longer than before, and also stays on surfaces for an insufferable ammount of time now. This changes the status quo quite a bit.

My country (Denmark) is on lockdown till the 30th and that period is bound to be extended imo. Everyone i know works from home now, me included.

In the netherlands they took a late approach to take any actions since other countries are way ahead of us with preventing it from spreading , I do know most cases are nothing more then a normal illness but if you are unlucky u will have the worse case. I always wash hands regularly I stil go shopping, but u go in 1 shop and u see the cashier people wearing gloves etc, and the next shop nothing like they think its completely normal. I do think we should not panic but yet be cautious

That’s good lockdown does help but for how long do they want to do this… I heard heat kills the virus but they cant really keep the lockdown until its summertime o.o

It will just spread since it takes what roughly 2 weeks before u are being hit by it…

1.One of the many disasters that happen on this planet. Not as bad as wars, hunger, poverty, exploitation. My feelings about it is: I will take any virus any day and every day over any human-made disasters (it’s a different story whether COVID is 100% “natural” event).

  1. No one knows for sure, so I won’t try to be the expert here. It does look or feel like something that can affect the world for years though, rather than weeks or a few months.

  2. If we talk about safety measure, no overreacting there. If it comes to some behaviors: people are always overreacting. Hoarding toilet paper is the best example. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
It’s like: “zombie apocalypse is coming! we will need tons of toilet paper!”

  3. I stay home 90% of the time. The 10% is essential shopping and walking/running in the park (miles of forest and mountains - lucky me to have it in my backyard). I pick quiet hours to shop and jog. I avoid tight and crowded spaces. When shopping, I put on gloves (as people tend to check items on shelves with their hands).
At work, I am most of the time alone, so that’s my luck helping again. Just wear gloves more than usual when touching anything that I know is used a lot during day shifts.

Over reacting maybe?

Completely not.
I agree with the lock down.
Also government explained why it is happening. The main reason to prepare for an predictable “wave” to slow down the sickness rate as good as they can so that hospitals don’t get to much sick to fast. Sadly to make it effective it looks like even the borders will be closed.

I’m only panicking cause I buy food day by day and stores kinda are empty ( ;.; )

It survived well in hot areas already, so that heat thing is probably more on extreme side of things (like really hot). I already read warnings not to get complacent during summer and not to hope for weather to help much (or solve the problem for us).

Other than that - we can expect COVID to evolve just like flu, so there will be different strains of the virus out there sooner or later (or so experts warn).

Friend, here in Spain, every day is worse and all because the rulers, refuse to close the country and all companies, I am one of the thousands who have to go to work, risking our skin, but try to always be positive and Knowing that when I get home, I will be able to play boundless, that helps me overcome the fear of getting infected, I advise to force the people so that their rulers, close their countries and thus prevent it from spreading faster, here there are already deaths of less than 65 and without any previous pathology, the virus is mutating, it is scary to think about this

Apart from my previous message nothing really changes for me. As i have chronic headaches (24/7) and my eyes can’t handle daylight as much. So only went out during the day to do some grocery’s and most times i end up staying at home (in the dark :vampire:‍♂)

Thanks for starting this, was thinking of doing similar.

I’m probably luckier than most… live in a fairly remote area with more resources probably than many places, though some things as bad as anywhere.

The uncertainty is a huge stressor I’m sure for many including myself… how long, how many waves, how many shortages… when will things resemble normal again? Where I work, higher ed, I think we’re just kind of winging it, and the state is overturning stuff anyways, huge changes on the fly… seen very stressed students coming to get their stuff, one yesterday said he sat and cried on his dorm bed. At least they’re better off with online courses (though some of these will be TOUGH for professors) than young children probably will be. I couldn’t imagine how scared I’d be if I was like 5-10 years old or so.

I don’t think it is overreacting, some areas way underreacting. My largest cause of anxiety right now is my parents. They are both down in the Tampa, FL area. Ok, look - I’m FL born and lived there 28 years, so nobody else from there please take this as an affront: but FL is sure living up to it’s reputation right now. :woman_facepalming: Beaches open, comments that would make you cringe from many down there, and to me the worst: the 6th largest casino in the world (a few miles from my mom) choosing to remain open and apparent from comments and video online their supposed precautions are bull. LOTS of senior citizens in that area. I fear the area could fall into complete chaos in coming weeks, might end up the worst anywhere.

Oh, and any who saw my profane outburst about Gamestop corporate on Twitter (and all the other comments): No, I don’t regret that at all. They deserve every profanity I can throw their way. FYI for those who haven’t been following: Keeping stores even in states with mandatory shut-downs open, lying about providing cleaning supplies, basically give zero… well, I’ll keep it clean here, but they are right there with that casino I mentioned. Seeing both the best and worst of people right now.

I thought people were silly for buying all of the toilet paper. If SHTF, tp is not my priority lol (pun intended). Food staples such as rice & beans that don’t need refrigeration, gas for your vehicle, basic cleaning supplies, basic at-home medical supplies, pet supplies, etc are things people should make sure they have - in case they are stuck at home for a long period of time.

I think this thing is going to get worse before it gets better. There are some people that say “I feel fine, it’s no big deal”, then proceed to ignore all of the advice/warnings that have been given. What they don’t realize is that it doesn’t matter if they aren’t sick or if they feel fine. They can be a carrier. They can bring the virus home to family members, friends, co-workers, etc and it might be fatal for them.

The longer people continue to gather at bars, restaurants, events, spring break, etc…the longer all of this will last. If they would just stay home until the cases start to slow down, we could get through this faster & everything could re-open…and everyone could get back to work.

I love my family to death, but unfortunately, most of them are in the “we’re not sick, we’re fine” group. My mom won’t stop going shopping & won’t stop visiting people. My dad (65 y/o triple bypass patient) won’t stay home either. I’ve offered to bring them groceries and anything else they need, but they are hard-headed lol. I have an older aunt that keeps taking her family to restaurants even though they are sick. She also got angry when my grandma’s nursing home locked down & wouldn’t let her in. It baffles my mind.

My brother and I have been texting about it & to make sure we have everything we need. We are cautious, but hopeful that it will end before long. We are resourceful and would have no problem growing our own veggies, going fishing, etc…if things got really bad.

My household just lost a large portion of income due to hours being cut yesterday. Two other family members might soon be out of work due to everything being shut down. I think there are many people that have it worse though - they have rent payments, car payments, mortgages, etc.

All I can say is that I hope everyone has the things that they really need, that no one gets deathly ill from this, and that this is all over soon.:heart:

This has hit me pretty hard. I live five minutes from the US epic center Outbreak near Seattle.

The biggest thing for me Is getting access to my regular doctors. For example I can’t see my primary care doctor unless I go to the hospital first and it sounds like other primary care doctors have all adopted this policy in this area. I had two specialists cancel on me this week and told me I could reschedule in July. One being my pain doctor / anesthesiologist, so you can imagine how much that could affect me.

Furthermore I consider my mom part of that at risk population with health issues and age. One of my first cousins is one of the confirmed cases here it and did not look good and he went into the ER at first but it looks like he may pull through.

Yep, both my parents are over 70… dad has cancer but is fairly stable, but my mom, I don’t know if she’d even have a chance, she’s on oxygen as it is. :frowning:

Best wishes to you and yours… to everybody here!!

If I can help anybody in any way… well, I don’t have that much, but I would do what I could to help you all here. Even if anybody just wanted someone to listen while they vent.

Exactly this just because you feel fine doesnt mean the other will and people assume to much and think about themselves to much it’s time to think about other human beings and your loved ones and stay out of sight for now if you have any sign of feeling ill

We have empty shelves here to just not as bad o.o
