I did the same back in WoW (Semi-progressive raiding guild, leader of a rated battleground group and occasional instance/raid runs with RL friends) but i never felt the need to be member in several guilds simultaneously.
What i think is missing in most games is a proper way to organize different groups ingame without the help of external tools/websites.(Basically something like an ingame whatsapp group 
)

japp, ONE guild but also optional “Friend Groups” with no benefits next to the ability to allow building or using of portals by a “Friendgroup” token instead of a token for each player … And there should also be a limit of people in such groups to work against pure global trading channels or Looking-for-Retards ^^

Pretty sure you can already create portals to players and allow them to build inside your beacons through the use of individual tokens.
