As you can see this is still under construction: I figured that if I’m going to keep getting this wrong then I may as well show during construction to see where the areas are that are needing fixed before i continue.
As you can see i still have yet to do his left arm, finish his head and shoulders, build the axe head and add some decal to the Armour.
As it always seems to be the head/ face i muck up (along with others things, i acknowledge) I wanted to see if this head was ok shape wise. Other concerns I would like addressing are
Are the hands in proportion?
Does the body and legs look ok?
Is the arm too bent?
Any other things you may find wrong.
I must be tiring you all by now, but the feedback is appreciated.
Thanks.
Well first of all I’m missing some shots from the side^^
Also do you want to have it built with just one color/type of block? Because how it is right now it’s really hard to see a dwarf in it^^
I think the body structure is okay but I find it hard to identify his facial features XD. I don’t know if that’s his helmet or his beard. I can’t seem to find his eyes and nose also (or maybe none since he has a helmet on).
Thanks for the feedback. I stuck with the same block type as I felt that, that would make it feel more like a carven statue? If you know what I mean. Obviously now I know that was a bad move. Will definitely try different colour aspects. Towards side screenshots of it its not much different, and as this will be up against a wall most of the sides will not be visible. Thanks again!
Thank you. It was the face that was more my concern as well. I think by doing that and making it more round(I think) it will improve it. Thanks for the feedback!
I found it very helpful to use cracked stone and slightly different stones to accent and contrast builds like statues. (I hope things like that will find it’s way into boundless too)
Sometimes you have to help the shadows a bit to make it feel more plastic^^
GL with version 2.0 if you improve it^^
Sorry but with the face I find it hard to see your comment as serious or sarcastic? I’m not being rude or anything, if you are being sarcastic and you find it bad then that’s fine! That’s why these are ‘concept’ designs. But if you are then you should if just said you didn’t like it in the first place. If your are being serious sorry for false accusations. Either way appreciate the feedback
really you made one! Super cool, I also had in mind, but then just thought: too much work xD
Looks great. I love the ones who are holding a big warhammer above their heads too. Would be nice to see that somewhen after 1.0 at the entrance of a big dwarven city
I’m actually a fan of carved-style statue which means it mainly uses a single type of stone (or maybe mixed with the suggested cracked stones). I love LOTR (because of hobbits) and your statue reminds me of this one http://i.imgur.com/cRcIGnc.jpg.
I guess your statue can work if it is bigger so that you can properly show the small details which is the face itself.
I also tried building something like that but stopped because of latency issues and my lack of skill for building massive structures ^^
The statues in the linked picture have also 2 types of stones so there is that^^
But yes, because of how blocky a voxel game is, the bigger, the better^^
Slopes only help to make things appear rounder than when you build them with stairs. You still need the same size of things if you want the same detail.
