I’m frustrated that I can’t make these playing in our small group. I understand that I could go buy them, but we’re trying to progress through tech without buying things from other people since the progression is a major part of the fun for games like this. But fists are just off-limits because we didn’t buy the game a long time ago.
It doesn’t seem like there are other pay-to-win aspects in this game, unless you count cubits, though that’s more like pay-to-make-really-big-builds or I suppose pay-to-have-a-lot-of-builds. Beacon auto-fuel from Gleam Club probably saves some coins, too, if you have beacons spread around for regen farms.
I more meant the coin to travel to the beacon, not the cost of fueling.
And I understand why they chose to do it that way. I’m not even saying that they were wrong - maybe offering some sort of real in-game advantage was the only way to get enough people to back the project. But it’s frustrating.
To be fair I hate that I can’t craft wayfarer totems, I don’t think of it as a p2w item or anything, but I would have absolutely backed the game had I known about it back then. Even if I could spend cubits on the recipe I’d be satisfied, but locking items is just kinda major suck.
Is it P2W If the item isn’t OP? The iron fists arent that great. The golden fists are far better but still by no means a top tier P2W item. Wayfarers totems are a little more OP but, it’s not unusual for a game to give early backers an exclusive item or 2 as incentive to back the game. I don’t see a problem as long as they aren’t game breaking items, which in my opinion they aren’t.
That I support. We could use more, better, fists to outclass the golden fists, but I was mostly just making the point that they aren’t OP enough to be called P2W in my opinion. I feel like P2W is something that’s reserved for game breaking items. But I absolutely support making even better versions that are craftable
Oh cool, didn’t realize that I actually have the ability to craft golden fists. Still a slight let down cause
You can join the exclusive Gleam Club to further support the game and to get a few cosmetic perks and keep your beacons fuelled, but everything in the game is accessible without any additional in-game purchase.
I’m a little curious if their reasoning is that other players with wayfarer totems and golden fists are able to trade them? Does it count if the players decided to just not trade golden fists of wayfarer totems? idk I’m not too upset about the wayfarer totem since it just seems like an all-in-one titanium tool, but still. I can craft the golden fist now, but still seems a bit lame that I needed the deluxe edition for it.
just prep ya machines to make them and give shout on forum for a early backer to come activate them @Lesioui does it to when he got the materials he gives me a shout and i activate them for him
just noticed allready ton off people also offered to do it
so def no pay to win just ask to win lol
Going to the very scientific website of reddit (lol), one can see the following:
Pay to win - a situation where the player can buy in-game content or in-game changes, with real money, that give the player a gameplay advantage or advance the player gameplaywise.
Depending on your classification of an advantage, fists and totems may in a way be considered p2w but let’s face it both are less superior than tools/slings. Are they nice to have? Yes. Are they the best in their respective fields? Absolute no. Also the devs had to offer some bonus for players who believed and bought the game before others so consider it a compensation. Plus, technically you can get those by playing the game and buying them from other players.
I totally understand your frustration though. I wished i could create the totem but we only had explorer tier on steam (ill never understand why).
