It’s actually my favorite feature of the game and its what allows me to play so casually. I can be gathering or building or just exploring, and just stop as soon as something comes up IRL. And then as soon as I’m done doing whatever it is I’m doing I can pick up the controller and hop back in immediately without having to re login. I really wouldn’t want them to start kicking people for being AFK because the fact that I can put it down and pick it back up so quickly is the biggest appeal to me that allows me to truly play as casually as I can.

I’m all for that. Objective based rewards I could definitely get behind. “walk x amount of steps for this reward” “mine x amount of blocks for this reward” “die x amount of times from cuttletrunks for this pity reward” lol I would love feat based rewards. Just not play time based rewards because people like me don’t deserve rewards for going AFK

what if after a while you been enough afk you get a meditation emote

I like that idea too :grimacing: I want my character to meditate while I’m AFK

There’s definitely tons of this in game. Though they’re coin/exp awards so not sure if that’s the type of award you’re talking about.

I want more cosmetic options for feat rewards. I think like. For example. When they release some form of armor system in the game. We could have “walk x amount of steps” for a special pair of boots. Or we could have skins to change the look of our hammers (not providing stat benefits but simply to change the cosmetic look of your hammer) and say “mine x amount of blocks” for a cool hammer skin.

I’m just not able to afford buying the cosmetic items because finances are tight :grimacing: so having a couple cosmetic items that are feat based would be pretty cool to give people extra things to work for to add diversity to the games characters even more

I’m personally against pre-order bonuses or exclusivities. If I back or pre-order a game, it’s don’t want it to be because of something I won’t be able to get once the game is released. I would like it to be about the desire to play the actual game and about supporting the devs.
Same thing as with me ranting about the timed seasonal events. I hate all ‘limited-time’ stuff with the exception of “you paid early so you get to enjoy something and a year later, everyone else has the ability to buy it too”. It fits with the concept of Early-access.

If what you got was just a title or a Steam Success, I’d be like “hey, good for you”, I think it’d be fair.
But we’re talking about actual in-game recipes for pretty useful tools and I think there’s a few more things like bonus plots %? Don’t tell me that’s not a BIG bonus!

Pretty sure Batman Arkham City did that to the people like me who bought the Collector Edition, because they were having A TON of issues at release and they had to sacrifice stuff to the angry players. Even I couldn’t play the game for the first 6 months because it needed a lot of patching. ^^

But on the other hand, that game had a pretty decent list of cosmetic bonuses, and depending on which place you’d pre-order the game, you’d get different pre-order bonuses, meaning it was impossible to get all pre-order bonuses on one version of the game. That was scumy.

That being said, in the case of Boundless, again, I don’t think anyone is arguing for the backer’s bonuses to be given for free, that would make no sense whatsoever.

But I do think that there is no sense in holding onto these for a minority of players while these could be an actual paid DLC that could bring more cash to the devs and make sure that a new wave of players can use them.
To me, no valid argument stands against that.

I’m already being called “jealous”, although I’d say I’m more “frustrated”, because I can actually get wayfarer totems if I want.
But really, if you’re against the whole paid DLC idea because you think “I supported the devs before it was cool - I deserve a reward and NOBODY ELSE should be able to support the way I did” that’s not much better.

Black Desert Online doesn’t kick you, and encourages AFKing heavily. It actually has multiple AFK activities you can choose from ranging from training your horses, to fishing, to training stats (and maybe other things I’ve forgotten), as well as being able to afk while traversing the world from one location to another.

the plot bonus gets pretty crazy true but doenst mather since you can buy plots
jelly thing was more joke
but if you can buy the foundertotem and people who dont pay cant doesnt it stay pay to win?
then it pay now to win if i follow your logic

That’s a fair statement.
But at least, you can buy the recipe, which is still an improvement in my book.

Also doesn’t the deluxe edition come with the plot bonus? Or am I wrong. I don’t have the deluxe edition so I don’t know for sure but thought it came with the plot bonus

i cant make the gold fist not sure about bonus plots
just iron fist it was only special for very short time span

Overally I really want more things to be able to buy besides Cubits and the handful of items available. Give us recipes, and clothes, and more headgear. I’ve budgeted around $100 a month to spend on whatever games I want and there just isn’t enough stuff for me to purchase in Boundless.

Seriously guys, take my money! I’m going to end up with so many Cubits I won’t know what to do with them, except maybe amass a gigantic piece of land somewhere.

ETA: Yes Deluxe gives bonus plots, it’s 5% or 10%, I can’t remember which.

With the deluxe package you can craft gold fists and you get a 10% plot bonus.
The EA plot bonuses were much larger.

1 GC month, +10% life, +10% plots, +500 Cubits, the Golden fist, and a super duper title that NOBODY can see. ^^

I always have one on me. I use them during meteor hunts and on Exos. Great multi-tools.

I’d like to point out that it’s literally impossible to support the game the way they did. As someone who wasn’t around during those days I can’t make the wayfarer totems, either. Or a 200% plot bonus.

However I recognize that the early backers funded the development of the game and carried it to adoption by a larger publisher and release, and it was a gamble. Today, it’s not. There’s a huge difference between spending 5k to a small studio while a game is under development, and spending it when the game is already released and has an active community.

I’m all for newer, better tools as they’ve since added newer, better content. and harder things to do. I don’t believe early backer rewards like unique items should necessarily retain their same position in the toolbox forever. However as regards them specifically staying exclusive I’m 100% for it.

With regards to the higher plot bonuses, I don’t think that should be made available to current players period. If there’s ever such an expansion that they need mad money to fund it and the content is going to be totally game changing and they decided to do another round of crowdfunding, maybe? Maybe not.

Again, it’s a huge difference between backing a pre-release and straight up buying an advantage in an existing ecosystem. The risk to reward ratio that existed then just isn’t a thing now.
