Isn’t the law that if the studio flops while in the crowd-funding phase, they have to reimburse the backers? Then, the “risk” isn’t really that big.

I agree that if Boundless wanted to add more items (totems, fists, other gear, etc), that’s fine.
Things promised to early backers are hands-off imo. That’s completely different than anything added after a game releases. They helped get the game off the ground, made an investment, and basically took a large risk.
They earned/paid for those items and it should not be taken away from them just because someone else wants them

At the end of the day, what pisses me off is that the backers bonuses AND the Collector’s Edition rewards the buyer with actual gameplay advantages. Nobody can argue to the contrary.
I would be fine with all of it if these rewards were all just cosmetic stuff, if the Wayfarer totem had exactly the same stats as the regular totem.
Like, PS4 players have some exclusive head-outfits. I have no problem with this.

No, not anywhere in the US nor any country I’m aware of.
It’s not like they sit on that money they spend it. It’s gone to salaries and office rent and whatever the other hard costs of attempting to develop a product are.
I know of one game that failed recently after several round of crowdfunding and they apparently just sort of “gave up” And there’s discussion of a civil suit. But that’s at the discretion, and the expense, of the investors.
If you invest in a startup and it tanks, you’re generally just out some cash. Game, gadget, service, whatever, it’s no different.

In any case the Developers would most likely create NEW DLCs… makes sense if you think about it…1st the legal/ethical issues are avoided by dilluting the totem and explorers fists by offering to all (not an attorney but I can say with some confidence that the Devs would avoid doing that anyways…2nd the new DLCs would be purchasable by both founders and newer players alike which would allow Wonderstruck to benefit financially more.
At the end of the day I care more about the financial well being of Wonderstruck and Boundless the game than I do of someone being #triggered by not being able to make a totem or the inferior explorer’s fist (after all the golden fist is the better of the two IMHO)… Like it or not, THIS is a Business, if you supported the game earlier before release you helped pay to keep the lights on when they made little to no money…Rewarding you for that is Perfectly A-OK… creating new totally different DLCs for all to benefit from new and old players alike is also a great thing… if someone is reading this doesnt want to financially contribute to James and the Wonderstruck team I question your commitment to this game, and to this company…

No that is not how it works. If the company folds or the game never launches then you are out of luck and whatever cash you gave them is gone After all they spent it, how could they give it back?

Yeah, I also remember hearing about the case where the backers filed a suit, through the Youtube channel of either Bellular or YongYea. Must be what induced me in error.
I want wayfarer totems! So I had someone make them or I buy them. Now don’t care same goes for fists. Backer items stay backer items.

The iron fists are cool for loot attraction, glow, and armor but I don’t think I’ve ever actually sold one. Either they’re not popular or my prices suck. 
I mainly use iron for bird hunting it has more dura than gold and I can pretty much one shot birds when I get a nice forge lol.
I use the golden one for hunts.
