Fists are pay-a-long-time-ago-to-win

The golden fists are great, I use them constantly. They are very versatile (for hunting, gathering and mining) and easy to forge, allowing anyone who pays for their recipe to forge them to their liking and need.

I love them and I hope they continue to be p2w, that’s why I paid for them.

I am not against them pulling out new fists and totems, but I hope they are lucent type and cost to be forged as such.

In a game like this, an “hour spender” with very limited inventory wins when you save time and inventory space to load more resources, essentially.

So these tools are a p2w, because it allows us to save inventory space and time essentially at the beginning of the game, when you have a low level.

This is my opinion, and I don’t see it as something negative or bad, because this is not a game with a defined ending. You practically pay to get to the same level as the rest more quickly.

Wait people who backed also get +10% life? Meaning they have 10% higher health pool? Wow that’s even worse than fists.

They do not get a health boost. There are no backer tiers that give a health boost.

Whew, that’s good to hear. I’m confused by @anon34275467’s comment, though. What does “+10% life” mean?

I do not know. . here is what you get if you buy the deluxe edition. Which anyone can still buy now on steam so it is not an offer that anyone that wants to spend the money cannot do so and get the bonuses.

Boundless Digital Deluxe Edition includes:

  • Boundless
  • An exclusive in-game title
  • A 10% lifetime bonus to your total beacon plot balance - build bigger and better!
  • Boundless Original Soundtrack: Complete Edition – 200 tracks, over 12 hours playtime!
  • A Wood Coffer containing 500 Cubits to exchange in game
  • 30 days of Gleam Club membership
  • An exclusive weapon crafting recipe: The Golden Fist

Ooooooh. Right, mis-reading on my part. On my Steam, it’s translated in french, and I saw “Un bonus de 10 % à la vie” instead of “Un bonus de 10 % à vie”. Totally different thing.
When I wrote it, I did think “uh, never noticed it before :man_shrugging:”.

Little late to the party on this, but for warframe the 50$ frames are purchase early access to those frames. the backer/founder frame was Excalibur Prime frame, which as far as i know (being a founder for that game myself) is still founder exclusive and not up for grabs by playing/paying now. not arguing your point just clarifying that part of the statement.

Gem and lucent totems and fists please!

The Deluxe Edition gives you +10% plot bonus, so every 300 cubits you spend on plots you get 110% of 10 = 11 plots. It also works retroactively, the game knows how many plots you should have without the bonus, then calculates the total plot amount using the plot bonus added.

Early Access backers tho also got a plot bonus. Adventurer backer level is +10% as well and stacks with the Deluxe Edition bonus, so then you get 12 plots for every 300 cubits spend.

There were many different backer levels, the highest one, Oortian, actually gives you +200% plot bonus and it stacks with Deluxe as well, so every 300 cubits nets you 31 (!) plots…

It’s how people can take over Biitula, ehhh, planets…

Then there’s no risk at all anymore! I don’t think there’s a law for that. And most certainly not in all the countries in the world.

You’re basically an investor, they are trying to get funding for something and you invest in them. That you get something in return as well is just the newer part that Kickstarter and co have added basically. If it flops you lost your money…

Many cases out there of people who feel cheated out of their backer money after a project didn’t go through.

If you want to play it safe, do not back a crowd funding…

P2W stands for pay 2 win, yes, but it has started to mean more than just the literal meaning of the words. Just see it as ‘pay for an advantage’. Having a higher plot bonus is an advantage in Boundless wouldn’t you say? Not having to fuel your beacons with Gleam Club is as well. Having tools and weapons others do not is too, etc., etc.

Disclaimer, not intended as attack against you Aenea, just the P2W argument in general:

While I can’t argue with that, it is introducing shades of grey into an area where people (especially opponents of micro-transactions) still bring an oddly black and white mindset to the table and seem entirely unable to make even the smallest of compromise.

I was recently gladdened to see that, in an unrelated game, when a few people complained about the developers doing away with auto-complete tickets as something you had to buy/earn in favour of just giving infinite tickets to anyone who had ever bought even the cheapest of in-game purchases, almost everyone had the prescience of mind to point out that their ‘moral principal’ (their words) of never paying for anything and getting as far as they like was all well and good, but this change had actually made the game better for a lot more people, and that maybe free-loaders just weren’t the target audience.

Sometimes supporting the developers or paying for bits here and there is categorically better. Sometimes cosmetics aren’t enough to drive a game’s income stream. Sometimes it’s genuinely a bad thing. Sometimes it really is predatory. My dream though is that more people realise “It’s P2W” should never be a conclusive argument against something without first considering the impact of doing the thing vs not doing the thing.

Wait wait wait. You’re telling me the deluxe bonus stacks with the Early backer bonuses? I backed at the explorer level. And one thing that’s been keeping me from even considering the deluxe edition is because I thought I already had the plot bonus. But it stacks? So I’d get even more plot bonus?? Now the deluxe edition sounds far more tempting

better not talk about our tax write off’s
and 5procent regen bonus but thats not much though

I use goldfist for that( magnet/hard as nail/glow) and I always have with me , sometimes i use also the powergrabber with max range when building

Hard as nails is probably better ron iron tho

Why you say better on Iron? @Cuetzpalomitl

Edit: maybe i understand, you mean cheaper, for the extra flexibility, my is more an aesthetic choice, as long i don’t have a shop it is a lootsticks than is endless i don’t need to forge as much
EDIT2 : i forgot it loose dura when you take dmg

Most games that only sell cosmetics do hefty business.

And I would agree with Aenea that p2w really means pay for an advantage - ie anything other than cosmetics.

No 1 will ever see excalibur prime though, a founder frame along with Lato Prime and Skana Prime.

One of my friends was a founder, and forgot that he had Excalibur Prime and that it had any significance at all.

Suited up as Excal P, walked into his first mission in two years… Another player offered him US$800 on the spot to purchase his account.
