Founder stuff is how people who don’t have money to throw around can have something that feels pretty rewarding for taking a chance on a dreamy-sounding game.
Yes, it definitely does!
If someone did not have money how could they afford to back a “dreamy-sounding game”?? How does that work? lol
Seriously, Founder or early backer offers from various game companies are an opportunity for you to Vote with your money on the value you put into a “potential” game project… there is no guarantee that the game will ever really “BE” so there is a huge inherent risk… backer perks is a way where the gaming company “rewards” those who took the risk to back the project…
Sadly later if a game is successful the general population feels “left out” but as stated earlier in this thread the Developers could create New “stacking” DLCs to sell to both older and newer players alike with all new or stackable perks or rewards …
Tomorrow is 2-years and counting.
Very much so, yes.
– So I have the Digital Deluxe, and I am also a “Master” level so I get 110% plot bonus.
Dang I missed my chance
If only I had backed boundless on PC
Also congrats!
Oh boy can’t wait to craft my exclusive wearable one day
Except that games that actually do good business selling only cosmetics have such a vast commercial reach that they can afford to only sell cosmetics. They almost always have strong, fast paced, skill based competitive elements where it matters that everyone is as balanced as possible, because there is actual ‘winning’ to be done. A lot of the business model is based on churn.
But then look at Boundless. Limited reach (because it’s still not really ready for a proper advertising push) and little to no competitive elements that aren’t just ‘grind until you have the most’ mechanics. The gameplay seems clearly based around players taking a long time to gradually achieve things… so the opposite of churn. That’s worlds apart.
How many Gleam club members would instantly stop paying if the auto-fueling was removed? I only kept mine going because of it (although thanks to beacon reclaim, I’ve been able to drop that now too). How many people buy cubits just for cosmetics (we should exclude plots here, because they’re advantage and by your rules should be removed)? Don’t most people just grind an of hour or so for cubits with over-forged tools for their next cosmetic nowadays?
If you genuinely think it realistic to compare like this as if it’s just black and white, or if you really believe that Boundless could be a profitable game only selling cosmetics, then I guess I have nothing else to say. I must just be too limited, because I can’t even imagine the thought process required for that.
I’m not even convinced that Boundless is a profitable game right now based on the dev team hiring for another game. But if it sold cosmetics, for money not cubits, it might generate another source of income. I think the problem is that way too many cubits are rewarded for leveling and after you get your character to a certain skill level it only takes a few hours of play to get any cosmetic you want. I understand your point about the types of other games that use the cosmetic model successfully but I think you’re underestimating how much the dedicated players would fork out for some exclusive eye candy.
A little bit aggro there, friend.
Sell some cosmetics for cash only, like other games.
I don’t know how boundless is profitable in general btw.
Also obviously boundless would sell fewer cosmetics than fortnite. But it is also a smaller game with fewer users and fewer devs.
i think the adventures crest facemask is the exclusive wearable
I just assumed they would give us an exclusive wearable to craft when an armor system came out. Can’t anyone buy the adventurers crest? If so then the wording in the early backer package would be a lie as it’s not craftable or exclusive.
Arguably the exchange is crafting, where cubits are the mats?
cant answer that but i think the dev’s consider the perks done
but also not sure about it
maybe one day they create a dev world to visit not sure lol
but i can understand they dont have time for it
i can just visit not build like oortian so doesnt mather much
Lets hope not because with so many of the perks still missing that could be a problem for them. We are getting to the two years after launch mark and several of the perks have never been provided.
New prime warframes are in the relics the same day as their prime bundle is released, same with the prime unvaulted bundles
