I know I am far from any of the servers, so I expect some connection trouble… but I play many other games with servers as far if not farther from me with no connection issues at all. Boundless seems far more sensitive to even the slightest of bad connections compared to other online games.
Love the game, just wish I was not limited on when I could play so often by the sensitive connection. Not sure if there’s even anything that can be done, but just a bit frustrated at the moment being unable to play on my Saturday morning off.
Probably no help, but here is a snapshot of my latency graph at the moment
First thing to try it setting the Chunk Download Limit to Minimum. This will slow the chunk download so that there is more free bandwidth for the important movement and entity data.
I have tried messing with the settings but I think its something else as even parked in a corner away from everything else staring at a wall doing nothing I get spikes of unstable connection.
wired connection to router… fibre optic in the building I live in, with very good speed for everything… and stable connection to every other game I play. It is something with my connection to the boundless servers (or steam).
Nothing else using the internet at the moment, even my phone is on LTE instead of wifi.
its a connection issue of some sort, just not sure where… and as I said, I would point the finger at my ISP if anything else was having issues, but its only boundless thats not working well.
it used to be occasional, now its every day… and not saying its boundless itself
… I think its some connection point between me and the boundless servers or something.
Out of curiosity, since I am unsure of whats going on in the background. If I am parked in a cave away from a portal or anything with no one else nearby, facing a wall, not moving around at all would the game be continuing to download things or would the downloads be minimal and my unstable connection not Chunk Download related?
