Game crashes at login?

So I have not played for a very long time. When I try to open the game, it crashes immediately after I get to the “CryBloodwing logged in” screen."

I was on Solum and I did see to delete the cache, however I do not know how to do this on a Mac.

Any ideas how to do this? Or is it a totally different problem?

If you browse to the path below in the Finder (from within your users home folder). I think you should find a chunkcache folder which you can delete, note replace the YOUR_STEAM_ID folder with whatever you find, there’s probably only one folder there if there’s only 1 user signing in to stream

Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/YOUR_STEAM_ID/324510/local/chunkcache

It may not be the chunkcache issue though if you’ve not played recently, I think there are some other Mac startup issues so if you can share a game log if it’s still not working.

I tried going to Userdata, but I only get a folder that is a random number. Inside that folder, are more folders with random things. Like 324510, 7, ugc, etc.

Also, how would I access the game logs?

So I did see that the folder existed in the Apple Report, but I could not find a way to access it. So I copy and pasted most of the report into a message that I sent to you.

The address for game logs should be referenced in this thread.

324510 was the right folder

I think I was able to find the right log…

@blake Another crash compiling shaders

CryBloodwing, is this the live version or testing? if testing, does live work? (or vice-versa)

It should be the most recent update…I have it on Steam and my games update automatically.

and omg, your picture is Yuno! You are awesome

Testing, as in the beta version. You can enable it by right clicking boundless in steam and selecting properties at the bottom of that menu. Then select the beta tab and the top, and testing from the drop-down list.

That’s correct when looking in the folders the first random number you found is your personal steam user id (so there’s a folder for each user, should only be one if you sign in to the same steam account all the time). Inside that folder there will be a folder called 324510 which is the steam application id for Boundless. Inside that folder will be a folder called local which will contain a folder called chunkcache. That’s the chunkcache you would’ve needed to delete.

However looking at the crash logs it’s a crash we’ve seen from other people where Apple’s graphics driver crashes trying to compile one of the game’s shaders. We’ve not worked out what made this start happening yet (change from us or change from Apple), however it’s definitely worth submitting that crash to Apple if their crash system lets you since that has a chance that they’ll fix the bug.
In the meantime we’ll need to try and find a workaround.
