Game is crashing very frequently multiple times a night for multiple people

I would think it has to have something to do with the tick rate change or the server move as these crashes weren’t happening previously. Sadly, I can’t make them happen at will so we can see if upping the tick rate fixes it.

I don’t know a solid solution other than maybe upping the tick rate some to see if the crashes stop.

If it’s the weather particles. Maybe we could get a clear weather item on @Ovis and you can put on the clear weather glitch in the sanctum and see if you continue crashing with out the weather effects.
If it’s particles from hitting blocks. Those are more integrated in some of the files. I did mod some files a couple years back that removed the smoke from hitting blocks.

That could test the issue, but I think upping the tick rate would be an easier solution to try.

Thinking it out some, the only changes I’m aware of since Monumental took over was new servers and lower the tick rate.

Lowering the tick rate is causing me issues with blocks where some blocks reappear when broken, they change back to their original state when chiseling and even disappearing when placing fast.

I have a little server knowledge, but I think some things are happening too fast on the client-side where the server can’t keep up such as breaking blocks too fast with a speed hammer. Then thinking it out further the particles could be trying to generate faster than the server can keep up with, but a particle issue would seem like it would be more a client-side issue.

I’m unsure, but if only a server upgrade and a tick rate change have occurred one of those are the likely culprit. I’d like the block breaking to be fixed because when breaking said blocks and they reappear, the tool still loses durability.

I did notice the block breaking thing happen while mining on PlayStation the other day as well.

@Ovis did you happen to have any modded files that may have caused this?

That’s my hunch right now, that when particles appear then disappear, it might be accidentally using some uninitialized memory, where it usually isn’t much of a problem but occasionally it really is.

That would be a lot of particle effects happening quickly. With a speed hammer and speed brew and with max control(distance your able to reach which I believe is 9 blocks)

That’s easily 99 particles effects in less than a second. Probably more if you’re running straight and smashing blocks.

Nope, I did have an augmented 3rd person Z axis view. But that went away when I reinstalled.

Wonder if the newer GPU drivers are causing issue these days. Who knows. Just trying to think of things that could have changed or grown worse over time.

EDIT: Seems it occurs on PS too. Wonder if it occurs more frequently on PC or PS and PS4 vs PS5.

My 1660 can vouch for that not being the case :joy:

Do they even update drivers for that?

EDIT: this was a joke

I wonder if the crash is more likely if you’re low on vram, just a guess.

I added a guard around where it was crashing and pushed an update to Steam. :crossed_fingers:
