Game launches as black screen after Win 10 update!

Hi all. So, as the title explains, i got the latest Windows 10 update and the game stopped launching properly. I can hear all of the game’s sound effects when moving/swinging things but the screen is black. I did get this update earlier then rolled it back and the game worked fine but i can’t keep doing this forever (running from Windows 10 updates i mean :D). I tried reinstalling the drivers, verifying the game’s files, changing native resolution, and running it in compatibility mode but in vain. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot!

EDIT: I tried uninstalling the game then installing it again but that didn’t help.

EDIT: Log file and System Specifications.

I hope this helps

do you know when the update hit?,as i updated this morning and have been able to play boundless all day.

I am really not sure. I got an update a few months ago and as mentioned, i rolled it back. Yesterday’s update said “April update” so i guess its the same troubling one that i got earlier. After getting it, i tried checking if the system had any pending updates but it said it was up to date.

that is definitely odd, take it you also tried running as admin?

I didn’t find the option to run the game as admin. I just tried running it as windowed but it still didn’t fix the problem.

Can you share a game log just after booting the game by following the instructions below?

I edited my post up and added the log and system specifications. Please tell me if something is missing :D!

I just tried forcing the game to launch on my Integrated graphics and it launched (at 18 fps lol). I then launched it using strictly the GTX 970M and the problem came back. Other Steam games run well though :frowning:

ahhh i see, that may be the problem (not familiar with laptops) but my bro updated windows 10 and runs a gtx 970 gpu and it runs fine for him.

Using another laptop with an updated windows and it works fine. Haaalp i want to play haha.

The Windows update probably contained a 3D card driver update in it. Try installing an older driver - that should sort it out for you until they fix the bug.

Older driver for the dedicated graphics card only? If yes, where to find this older driver? Thanks!

NVidia’s website
