Gleambow 3.0

Ok, sounds good. I hope you are also moving it out of some empathy for the person(s) and their bases below.

thank you

Interesting take. Some people were simply trying to point out that GB can be spawned on other planets & after the event.

People were saying that their augments weren’t spawning GB meteors. James said the augments spawn a GB meteor 100% of the time, unless the planet is maxed out on meteors.

By spawning meteors on an event planet (the only place/time players can get natural GB meteors that have mutated sacs), it was causing some augments to fail & preventing natural GB meteors from spawning - on the entire planet for everyone.

As far as trolling - I don’t believe anyone said the players running the platforms were being verbally abusive. Just like in previous GB events, people trash talk each other on the ground…some go too far. Not sure there’s anyway to prevent this behavior. Yes, players were being verbally abusive to others.

James made it clear that GB belong to everyone. No one can steal a GB. If you don’t agree with this, then you should send the devs a PM or start a suggestion thread and state why it should function differently. I personally think they should function differently, and I messaged James about it.

Just fyi, I am not a builder, I spent 2 million to buy the platforms and meteor meet hub so they could be used publicly for the community. So to be asked to move and rebuild during this whole event, is apathetic. He and I both own plots there. Neither of us should be told to move.

I know the official rules. Let me rephrase the meteors we spawned were looted. Glad you made it out majorvex was a lot of fun mostly.

According to the current rules, that’s how it works :woman_shrugging:

? I’ve been on every event planet everyday.

Yeah it is a great event with obvious flaws which I’m not even sure how they would fix.
Disrupting a normal meteor hunt ruining the game experience for the group? Considered griefing and bannable
Disrupting a gleambow sac hunt or platform hunt ruining the game experience for the group? Perfectly okay. Sac hunts are especially vulnerable to trolling. One person can literally shut down one of these and it fall within the rules.

Regardless, I usually don’t point out things in this game I don’t like because overall I think the devs do a fantastic job and put their heart and sweat into the game. That’s pretty much all you can ask for.

EDIT:
There are two groups of people that were looting meteors.

  1. Random people who didn’t know what was going on who we often got involved in our group. Zero issue with that.
  2. People who were purposely chasing spawned meteors over and over again using our platform and portals to do so. At times taunting and laughing. These people are not okay.

 I think there’s a few things they could do:
Spawned GB meteors can only be harvested by the person that spawned them (before they go dormant).
Spawned GB meteors and natural GB can’t happen on the same planet (since one impedes the other).
Or everyone can collect all of the items, just like in regular meteors.

No. People were reporting that they were being bombed and verbally abused - which are the same issues that happen at some regular meteor hunts. It’s not acceptable during any hunt, anywhere. It’s not tied to platform GB hunts.

In the case of gleambow hunts I wasn’t referring to bombing. My point I guess is that you can disrupt a gleambow hunt in other ways than bombing which are even more disruptive than bombing. Sorry I was not clear before

I did not say that any of this is coming from you. Many players were complaining at the start of all this that they were being bombed, harassed, etc. That’s not okay and needs to be reported. This is about all players & meteors, it’s not tied to platforms or you.

Yeah this is all true and I did see some people with negative responses across all planets

This gave me a bit of a chuckle because even after this was pointed out some refused to accept the facts and kept insisting there were duds anyway. The narrative was too good to let go I guess. lol

I agree with that and never asked anyone to move. Just asked @Fante if what @Kaplah said about the base below was true. Then I responded to @Fante’s remarks that it would be moved.

Oh, can I get a loan?

Sometimes, people looted my spawned meteor some, but I just accepted it, because I figured they were kids. All good really. Hopefully they had some fun gathering.

I know I was kind of harsh in some past posts - like I said then, love y’all as much as ever  - but really do want to throw out a big thank you to the groups for all the Oort I’m currently sweeping up. Running around Circ gathering… between my two characters pretty sure I’m over 400 now in a pretty short time considering.

Perhaps this will lower the price across the board… since I’ve also got lots of coin now from sacs, maybe I’ll load up.

One more day of gleambow so let’s put the negative aspect of this event aside. Both sides had valid arguments and concernes. Now I know there is probably much more to say about what happened but and I might be wrong but I have a feeling @noniethepup created the thread not to have another debate about the issue but to bring positivity. Not saying anyone did anything wrong by having this discussion in this thread either. @the-moebius made me remember something I forget sometimes and it’s about the passion we have for boundless. Which ever side you were on in this debate the passion people showed for this game was on full display. Passion is good.

I can only speak for myself here but I’d love for this thread to continue and focus on the good experiences people had during gleambow.

When have you ever been harsh? You are like the most positive person on these forums lol

I was just about to say that too. Couldn’t think of anything negative from @bucfanpaka

That’s the part that most of the “namecalling” also refers to. Basically calling people thieves.

The whole thing wouldn’t have pee’d me off so much if…

  • people stick to good manners, PS4 or PC… you have time to write “sorry would you mind” instead of “ey you steal” “mine mine mine go away” “you thief” (and I’ve also heard of insults… I am not going into these…)
  • people stop claiming something is “for the community”. I understand the community is all people playing Boundless. In my example I have not been asked whether I am OK with this. I have not been asked whether it’s okay to hijack the land around my base for platforms and trash the area with manually summoned meteors. I was not asked, if I would forfeit on chasing meteors in front of my house in favour for (only a part!!!) of a community (which makes them privileged as they think they have more rights than the rest of the community - as in me)
  • people twisting other people’s words for the sake of being right.
  • lazyness… people manage to build up a big platform and loads of small blocks and miniplatforms with portals on them, “guards” on these platform and chase meteors for 24/7. But apparently there is not 1 hour of time to quickly raise a platform on a less busy planet in a less busy area.

I think the biggest part that really annoys me is the “it’s for the community, it’s for all” when in real, it’s only for a small group of people who wish to participate and the other small group people who wish not but are either FORCED to participate or are FORCED to not participate if they don’t follow that “privileged” group of people that organised this event. I wasn’t asked, yet I was made unwillingly part of this. Am I not community? Have I no say? So it’s not for the community then? Just for a part of the community that a small group of people decided are allowed to have fun and the others have to go away or live with it. That’s a community spirit.

As I said so many times, it’s a conundrum. There’ll always be someone you can’t make it right for, but it’s also about respect and maybe even compensation after one realised what a backlash this caused. Yes, it’s always easier to blame the developers (they’ll fix it next time, until then we knock the planet - and lag - out). So it’s basically only convenient to be “a community thing” as long as one doesn’t have to stand up for what the community doesn’t like and then can blame or push responsibility to the devs.

Also, and I can only refer to @majorvex’s comment over and over again: people shout “you steal” “wtf” “ffs” “stop stealing” and a major drama breaks loose, but when the planet is maxed out and people get a “dud” (whatever that stands for, but basically no meteor comes down) then all people shout is “lol”. Really? If someone gets to the meteor first, it’s drama, but if a meteor is lost because one cannot fathom the idea that the server’s meteor limit has been reached for the 10th time in 15min (and people having major lag and rubberband through the area) then all that’s said is “lol”. I can’t possibly be the only one to see this as an absurdity?
