Hey, a stange thing happened earlier today, our guild leader had plotted out a town for us and we have been builing since launch. The town was thriving and game progress was smooth and underway. Our guild leader must have spent over 100$ in plots to provide roads in between our personal homes. And just out of the blue today decided to uproot every plot and unfriend the entire guild and left with much of our shared loot. Has this happened to anyone before? Im not really salty about it and i look forward to perhaps a new build elsewhere, but this has all been very strange and i just wanted to share this very Boundless event
Our town roads are deteriorating and worst of all, we built on water so it might be over. Any suggestions on moving forward? We dont have enough plots to cover the roads and some folks have already moved out. Best wishes Boundless buddies!
UPDATE:
Wow this post blew up, i just posted before i went to bed and now waking up to this! Id like to say my heart goes out to all those who offered to lend plots and help out, you guys are great and hope to see you in game.
But id like to point out that this is NOT A SHAMING POST. I havent posted any names and intend not to.
My only intent was to tell my story and see what people think about this situation, and im thankful that this conversation has evolved, providing good MMO insights (making for a good morning coffeee read ).
So please put the pitchforks down because this was never intended to be a revenge post. Im wholeheartedly looking forward from here on out. Ive learned not to trust someone just because they dumped tons of IRL money in game which was my mistake. But i do hope i will find players i can trust, this game is a collaborative one and teaming up with good people is fun! So screw the past lets keep on building.
And again thanks to people for offering to help out You guys are heroes
How many plots do you need to salvage the situation?
I could lend maybe a couple hundred that Iâm not currently using on a temporary basis, provided that the people living there slowly work their way up the levels to return me those plots after a while.
If the guild leader is staying around it should be made known what he did so people donât join another of his towns or guilds. Iâm not sure if thereâs anything specifically in the CoC about this kind of behaviour but you canât help feeling he should be prevented from starting up another. Especially if he basically robbed you all.
The reasonable way to sort this out is to report the person to the devs so they can take whatever action is appropriate, without violating the code of conduct because âthey did it firstâ.
And in the meanwhile, some people such as myself and @Pseudonym84 are volunteering to lend plots so that all the stuff theyâve built doesnât regenerate while the situation is resolved.
On one hand yes, devs has quicker chance of stopping such behaviors.
On the other, this is internal player problem inside guild. Iâm not sure if it should be handled by developers.
Yes, it was â â â â move, but truth be told he actually did what was actually recommended when you are feed up with your neighbors. Pack your toys and move somewhere else.
Yeah, but thatâs another point in favor of bringing it up to the devs, since theyâre better equipped to determine if the toys that were packed belonged to the leader or to the guild members.
Itâs interesting (and sad) that no one is considering that the leaders beacons might just have run out of fuel and a random stranger took the loot.
That wouldnât explain the unfriending though.
Maybe someone with access to their account deleted their characters, that would remove all plots and friends instantly.
Itâs not always malicious intent of the account owner.
Well, they were on his plots or plots where he had permissions as far as i understand itâŚ
Imho this is trouble with too much trust on the internet.
Hmm, actually you may be right. I still think devs should not act as police for the in game actions, but I also donât want to play eve online style game.
The unfriending is what led me to believe that this was intentional shenaniganry rather than just an expired beacon. Deleted by hacker could be an explanation I suppose, since it is heavily implied that the leader spent real cash on cubits for plots, it seems unlikely theyâd just throw that money away on purpose.
Edit: I still find it more likely to be a case of âI just came here from playing rust and thatâs how itâs done over thereâ type of situation, which shouldnât be condoned really, but since the OP hasnât replied yet itâs all speculation at this point.
Itâs also a common misconception among newcomers because of the way the game used to present plots as a cash shop item. You can earn plots worth of $100s of dollars in a reasonable time trought leveling, but iâm sure you know.
I get asked a lot about that because I also provide roads in a Town, but I just used alts and leveled.
