Here and lurking but don’t play anymore. A beautiful, promising game that is now dead and being kept on life support. While I’m grateful Monumental is keeping the lights on for folks who are happy with the current state, I won’t be back or be supporting the game until a plan with dates is put forward.

I said I’d never go back to WoW Classic, but I did. Same ole game from 20 years ago zero updates in 20 years for the most part.

I always find the whole game being “dead” and “on life support” odd. The only thing on life support is the community really. The game itself is as much alive as it was 4 years ago it functions just the same.

I know a good number of old players that won’t ever be back, but that’s for various reasons be it boredom, no updates or just a dislike for Monumental.

fingers crossed for a shocking, unexpected surprise of things changing for the better!
…i guess that still fuelling beacons is a form of optimism

and a happy, or at least broadly acceptable 2025

I’ve got thousands of hours in Boundless. It made me very happy for a very long time. For me, it’s the sting of what was an extremely promising game that needed a big marketing push and a revamped NPE being purchased by a company who promised big plans and updates down the line but then have repeatedly refused to answer or outright ignored asks for status updates. Any given game, unless it is a MASSIVE single player experience like Skyrim, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, or the GTA series, needs something to keep the community invested and spending money. I’ve long-since exhausted every possible aspect of Boundless and it has absolutely nothing to offer me anymore and, despite Monumental’s promises early on, it is clear to me that the game has no future beyond its current state. For some, like yourself, that’s fine. For folks like myself, there’s a sadness and bitterness associated with the idea that a game of such promise/potential and that brought many years of enjoyment is now officially over and behind me with absolutely nothing about it calling for me back.

You revamp the NPE, introduce a handful of new blocks, and put a marketing campaign behind Boundless and you will have a massive, thriving community, economy, collection of guilds, and significant ROI for Monumental but it’s clear they have no concrete plan.

Would a handful of new blocks replace the bitterness and sadness? Really the community overall is maybe a few hundred less than it has ever been, it’d be a far cry from what I would call thriving…but totally get it.

I’ve never been fully optimistic on either side of the coin. I was just mentioning this to a friend that there is a huge crowd coming back to Classic WoW …its over 20 years old …and that version has had no updates in that time (aside from the graphic update IIRC). Yet, with no updates people are playing it again.

I guess my point is, the only real change is the community, Boundless is still the same game it’s been for what, 5+ years now?. I’m in the same boat though, I’ve done all it has to offer me, other than some builds that I had hoped I’d finish. Other than that, not much else for me to accomplish. Adding some new blocks isn’t going to change anything for me, nor would swords and shields, titans or any of the mutliple other things that were shown, hinted at or in the works. The base game will always make up about 95% of the game no matter how much new is added.

All that said, focusing on bringing in new players, making the NPE better, having a free weekend or two, throwing up some ads on Twitch and YouTube and other avenues would be a better use of developers as it would be a longer lasting ROI for Monumnetal.

I’ve hit that burn out point more than once. I stay because I like chatting with people in the community and going on the Gizmo Hunts. I keep my two portals filled and fuel my beacons. But I’m usually only logging on once a week for the Sunday hunt. Otherwise I don’t log on unless someone needs something.

I’ve been playing Elder Scrolls Online since May and there’s still so much to see in that game.

I love Boundless. I wouldn’t still be here if I didn’t, especially after the recent fiasco.
But it’s going to take a lot of effort to revive the community.

We need an updated NPE, revamped skill page, new blocks, new chiseling options, advanced portal fuel setup with the ability to use all oort blocks (even decorative) as portal fuel, as well as pretty heavy advertising.

I keep popping my head into the forums to see if anything has changed. Wonder if this game will get development before Hytale releases.

I would still play if it was on Xbox. I’m not that big into pc games and no desire to get a PlayStation

I’m sure Playstation had them sign an agreement to only release the game on PC and playstation. It’s the kind of thing I’d see them doing.

I still check in once in awhile, consider me a lurker. Probably won’t play again unless there’s news from the Dev team. @Zephidyon and I have kept Autumn Dell on Trior from ashing completely, though if nothing in 2025 that’ll likely be the end for us.

I should probably check if my GC ran out, though I’m not sure I could ever go back to finish my old builds, as much as I always want to.
