From what i read so far you made a decision based on a couple of months without progressing to the point when everything gets actually easier. Feels kind of like a rant over 5 min of gameplay.
Again sorry but that is how i see it.
Its in the end your choice and the decision stays yours.
Your post contains absolutely nothing constructive to the OP either? At the very least, I wished them well and directed them to an appropriately related feedback topic. That image may have been a poor attempt at humour, but it was not posted with malicious intent.
Thankfully you were here to put me in my place, so at least there’s that. No worries everyone; I’m done here.
P2W is a spectrum, not a binary. Any designer should be able to recognize that. Anything where you can use RL money to increase your standing in a game lies in that P2W spectrum.
I would agree with you however Boundless allows everything in game to be earned with cubits through leveling. I have over 65k cubits from leveling alone which allows me to buy tats, the gear candy and plots. Sure you can buy cubits but with me.leveling 2 and 3 times a day with just mining and ceafting buying them is rather unessacary. There are players on here with huge builds that the plots were earned through leveling and earning cubits. So Wonderstruck makes it almost pointless to buy cubits.
Gleamclub just gives you x months for bot6 having to fuel your beacons, emojis and color text which really have nothing to do with winning or advancing in the game.
So no I am sorry I beleive we are going to have to agree to disagree this time and no hard feelings! You arent wrong. But, Wonderstruck has done such a good job at making large amounts of plots easily attainable if you continue to level. Thereby nullifying the notion that the game is pay to win. IMHO cubits are easy enough to earn that buying them just seems greedy.
I dunno. It’s a gray area with Boundless. Not sure there’s much you can “win” with color text and a plot of air. It’s more of choosing to support the game financially.
All of P2W and monetization ethics is grey areas, which is literally what I’m saying. There is a monetized feature that allows a player to gain advantage (land ownership and/or beacon renewal) through real money transactions. Pay To Win is a term of art, not to be taken literally “you win”, but you gain advantage.
A player with a new account can buy and plot 10,000 plots on day 1 with cash and buy a year of GC to hold onto them. You may not define that as winning, but it is an advantage a player not using RMTs does not have, so it falls cleanly in the P2W spectrum.
Further, and in more real terms, the presence of these mechanics is an active deterrent to new players, and is one of the leading arguments I saw against the game before I bought it.
This entire response line nearly is what is wrong with this community. Someone who was a new player is offering valuable feedback about the game. Why is the game unable to keep them and their friends that left earlier?
If people don’t like the post, topic, or content then just skip and ignore it. Because the OP didn’t play the way someone else thought they should have to be able to find fun doesn’t mean the OP’s feelings and points are not valid.
OP gave a lot of good constructive and relative feedback. A lot of the points have been left by other similar players going back in this forums history. Clearly the majority of people who try this game end up not liking it. Dev’s can’t address all those concerns and add content at the same time though it seems
I at least appreciate the OP. Feedback is always helpful. And we know the NPE isn’t so great.
IMO we should take his advice and think of ways to improve the NPE, rather than talking to a wall (I doubt he’s planning to re read these responses anyway)
No it’s not, that topic doesn’t allow discussion. Creating a new thread does allow that.
The same way every other MMO makes grinding exciting. By adding rare, high value, drops. Let’s say a mushroom has a 1% chance to drop 20 Rough Oort. Or a forged Hammer.
I have shadow epic on each and every char. Spitters freak me out.
I don’t think that was his point - you can’t even stay under level 20 as there is no XP lock.
The talent system is bad because a level 19 char can do everything and as soon as the char dings 20 it gets very very very limited and you’re better of with alts. But we know that the skill tree is the worst part of Boundless.
I think his points were excellent. Boundless has a terrible market. Most of the time it’s easier to just farm what you need instead of trying to find it to an ok price, especially if colors are involved.
The shop scanner and BUTT is mainly useful for people who want to exploit price differences for some bucks. It’s not really a good system for people who just want to trade. A trading post would be way more useful then these millions of shops for most shoppers.
I disagree completely. I shop using the scanner & shop stands almost every day. Makes things 10x easier than it used to be. Especially for players that can’t spend 3 hours running across planets.
It sounds like he was having issues with progression, so some of us offered tips/suggestions. Anyone can chose to play however they wish of course.
I agree 100% OP. Thank you for your post & we hope you’ll check back soon
Oh man…You could have done a 2hr hunt in the time you wrote that. After 7 characters and 16+ skill sheets 40,000+ cubits 2000+ plots on PC and PS4 I’ve quit and re quit countless times. I manage always to return by the 15th week. Your character/characters are always there so take 12 weeks off then see how you feel. I still have not been to every planet. It is a great game that does grow…maybe not fast but it does. I remember a time before weather when every day was sunny and you made food from just seeds.
I gotta agree with @majorvex here. I almost exclusively sell my things to request baskets for coin right now and subsequently use that coin to buy all my tools, building materials, storage, etc. I’ve never made marble or brick or concrete and still don’t even have a basic farm setup after 1000 hours in game. I exclusively use the economy to get coin and use my coin to buy all my things I need.
