If there are any Devs that still check the Forums please Read This

If there is any Dev that is reading this, I ask that you may reply to this and let the community know if there are any content updates being worked on for Boundless. This is a game I love and have great memories on. Seeing the player count having dropped so far scares me and that makes me feel that there is definitely a content update needed soon or at minimum some clarity from the team. So I ask kindly that someone from the team at Monumental can reply to this and tell us if something is currently being worked on. Thank You

unfortunately what’s happening can only be described as, well… little entropy

I’m in this constant battle in my head about the game and what has happened and how to stop the bleeding of players and its a tough one.

The battle is:

  • If any update did come out would it increase the playerbase?
  • Would it bring back all the players that left?
  • Would it bring in a bunch of new players?
  • Are people just bored and would an update even matter?

My thinking is if I were Monumental, I would have already researched that the game never reached more than 1100-2000 players at maximum and just pushing out an update for the current players or previous players wouldn’t really be worth the time it would cost to develop.

What I would do is push out a large update and do a fairly large marketing campaign to advertise the game to attract new players as those players would be the ones that stick around for a longer period of time, I think many people that have played a long period of time are just bored though.

I asked several people that quit and most said they wouldn’t come back and play even if they did update the game, but who knows. It definitely wouldn’t hurt.

I don’t think the vast majority of people have ever even heard of this game. I hadn’t until it showed up in a Steam sale on my front page of Steam. There is probably a pretty big untapped market out there. Marketing without updates is a waste of money, though. The game needs to look like it is going to be updated for anyone to actually play once they hear about it.

What major updates though? I don’t see any of the missing pieces that we already know of as being a big draw, other than maybe Titans. (Which, frankly, I just see as being a “bigger meteor” and drawing in some people for a bit, but essentially not the numbers the game needs.)

Everyone I’ve tried to get into the game has quit because “not enough players”, or they didn’t want to put in the grind.

Updates, in and of themselves, are a major draw. In themeparks you add new content by adding new zones, raids, pvp maps. In sandboxes you add new content by adding new systems. MMOs with no updates are dead MMOs.

Doesn’t look too promising 1 year later :frowning:

First of :waving_hand: hi it has been a while.

I believe i said it before but in my opinion was even though sweet at the time. Sovereign worlds at that time was a mistake. Don’t get me wrong it was a nice addition but for an already shrinking community it had the wrong effect.

Perm planets just ended up feeling devoid of life.
As a result new players where just left on their own.
The lucky few found people but most… had to figure it out on their own and once they hit that “progression wall”
They just gave up.

Have seen it with most new players.
As it was hard to understand for some that all they just had to do was ask in our community (chat).

After the communication stop the community kept shrinking also because… well everyone was to far apart… and well people got fed up with the lack of communication and honesty help. Because even this started to fall on deaf ears.

Monumental gave hope… but… the promise of a year….. almost 4 years later and still maintenance mode… just saying.

There should be an update that was “almost ready or being worked on” as they said before the communication stop (swords and schields)… what happened to it with the transfer to monumental? Maybe this has been said of maybe it hasn’t….
But…

Yes the game is complete. Mostly. I hope some better news comes still. I really do… but for now im not sure (as i see it) if i want to spend time on my own on something that ill lose in a month without having a choice. I realize this is very negative to say here als all these marvelous players that still are here keep going.
And i miss visiting the creations all around.

Just like i miss the community.

Again i hope for a better future as our predecessors (oortlings). And i hope Boundless will survive and grow to it’s potential. (Because i still think boundless just has potential in being big and better then other similar games).

But for now I might visit and look around if i really want to but ill probably keep other activities in other games for now.

[edit: just see a post excactly about what i was refering too :face_with_hand_over_mouth:]

Funny thing is there is an update there that doesn’t need as much time to finish as building a new one. That is if it was included in the files they got. Guess we will never know.

You aren’t wrong. But we don’t know what state that is in, if Monumental even has that code, I mean there are all sorts of variables there. It would still take some development though and paying someone to do that … and in the end is there any promise it would bring in new folks or bring back old ones, I don’t think it would, not much anyways. And there a whole Sony variable…

If Im being honest, I think it would take a large effort and a decent amount of money to ever get over that 1100 on Steam again, I think it would take a rebrand, heavy advertising, a new launch, and quite a few updates.

Sadly, even doing that guarantees nothing and that is the issue. You need a company willing to take a risk on the game and can afford to take a loss if it doesn’t pay off.

If only a company with a CEO who brags about their “deep pockets” would buy the game.

I can’t say if they have deep pockets or not I mean they do have a game pulling in 300k a month or so.

That being said, they may have deep pockets, but unwilling to take a risk on Boundless.

Yeah, but he said more than my prayers is my point. But, if someone who actually has a love for the game and deep pockets, filled with money (in fairness he didn’t actually say there was any money in there.) would buy the game that would be great.

The only system in the game that is actually finished is building. Some of the systems that are the most easily monetized, i.e. cosmetics, are missing completely. I don’t know why people think the game is completed. All you have to do is look at what your character is wearing to see that it is no where near finished. Combat is nothing but a placeholder, and without combat there really isn’t any group content that makes the game an MMO.

They aren’t going to do anything with the game. That is obvious. It just makes me sad.

At this point, they literally abandoned the game. There’s no hope for this game at all. We’ve been in the dark for almost 6 years and still nothing. The only thing they do is maintenance and fix little things. if you’re expecting any content update, they won’t we’ll never see anything. This game is gonna die off you can show statistics all you want still doesn’t doesn’t help that this game is going no where
