Nope, just that all the concerns with cities and malls plotting this way would go away if it’s ok as long as you don’t reserve the land in between.
Sometimes I use reservations. And Aenea and iLLn use reservations.
Yes, malls use this pattern, some mines use this pattern, some farms use this pattern, some portal towns/mini towns use this pattern…
My guess is it’s the snake pattern that’s banned not the grid pattern.
Either that or they’re gonna pull a Fallout76 and banthesda us all
You can’t plot a snake pattern, within your other plots? All of the plots shown belong to one person. That’s why I was trying to get a little more clarification as to what exactly was being banned.
What did malls look like before the reservations system existed? Just curious since I really never paid attention. Was the whole thing just plotted, or were separate beacons used or something? An honest question.
I think Aenea plotted her whole market and gives out spaces…I could be wrong.
I plotted in that manner to allow other people to connect to the main walkway. It started out as one 3x12 walkway. It expanded from there to allow more people to connect.
Since this game is an MMO - people are not always online at the same time. I didn’t want them to have to wait to contact me for a space, so I left them open so they could freely plot spaces.
Gotcha, makes sense. I remember some talk a while back about transfer of beacons the devs asked about. Maybe that could be a solution as well, using separate beacons for the shop spaces then being able to transfer them to the new shop owner somehow… but that would not help with the everyone is not online at the same time I guess.
The amount of space reserved that way is insane. And yes, I’m sure a lot of people don’t mean ill if they reserve some resources, but one players resources are the other players preferred location to build.
If people want to reserve resources they will now have to fully plot it. Which is good because that way we might finally be able to spawn new planets. (And with some luck it’ll contain black gleam.)
I think James said spawning of new planets was tied to player count or players accessing portals/worlds and not to plot count? I could be wrong.
The system looks at the world as a flat layer. So it only basically does the math of reserved versus filled in plotted area. Once the ratio goes too high you can’t plot more and have to fill in the space to lower the ratio. There will be warnings and as long a person doesn’t use the pattern James talks about they likely will be ok within reason. They are still coding it so there might be some adjustments to things obviously.
Since it is a change time will be given for people to fix and work with the Devs. They aren’t that harsh really. In my view (and not meant to point fingers at anyone) but the players clearly caused these issues by taking advantages of game systems –
- people fought over being mayor/viceroy and claimed other people’s prestige for their own so they could become the top city - resulting in fighting among players
- people annexed more settlements and didn’t respect other players or their wishes to be alone in the attempt to be the top city/person - resulting in buffers
- people abused the buffer system WAY BEYOND reason even after it was warned to not push the limits - resulting in this decision.
Just like the rock XP nerf, players that abuse systems cause pain for every person in the game. At some point they need to learn how to use something without abusing it or taking excessive advantage of is…but then again maybe it is too much to ask from humans that seem to be ruining the 1 planet they do have. lol.
Indeed I do but when shops leave or Regen they will be empty. Therefor I also have protection on so someone else can’t easily take that spot…
So if I wanted to claim the small mountain where im building, its fine as long as I actually fill in those gaps then right? with using the reserved slots allot less
Yes as long as you fill gaps you are fine
would something like this still be okay? https://gyazo.com/ad0f80ced0ccda5fe857a554eb48b6b2 mostly filled in but afew gaps?
That’s fine
I’m glad this is being addressed… It took me forever to find somewhere to settle a particular planet because half the area i was wandering around in was covered by land reservation plots like this.
