In defense of the "noob"

Heard two players today mocking a new player and dropping the “noob” title on him. Went on and on… I’ve even seen the “noob” term tossed at someone on this very forum.

As with every game, everyday a certain number of players get bored, distracted, busy, etc. and quit the game.

Every game needs “Noobs” to stay alive.

If you see new players being trolled please come to their defense and welcome them to the game.

I hated this nonsense in Fortnite and now I’ve seen it happening on Boundless

Everyone was a noob at some point

I still have my noob days.
I am especially absent-minded, but everyone has a moment where they forget something that they did 50 times the day before.

I hear ya. I’m at a mid level (40) and still learn new stuff every day it seems.

I’ve seen it happen far to many times that’s why if I ever see new players I stop and help them out

Noob isn’t a negative term unless someone is trying to be a jerk. Or if someone stacks 200 sand, falls off and dies (like I did) I may call n00b :joy:

Last time I helped a new player out it was me showing him a project I was working on and threw a ton of excess materials at him for free to help get him started.

He used those materials and other stuff he gathered to create a Starcraft Terran Battlecruiser on an ice world. This was back in Beta.

Typically I keep to myself and generally do things solo since I find relaying on others to be disappointing most of the time. Hard to find like-minded people who don’t irritate me at the same time (like getting pissy with me cause I am not gathering enough Copper Ore for them with a Forged Hammer they supplied me, as if it’s some how my fault).

The reason I don’t normally help out others in general is because of that. I’ve had more negative interactions from those newer players than positive ones so I figured I’d save myself the trouble and just not help people anymore. Not worth it for the chump change of coin I was getting anyways from mining contract jobs.

When I start playing more consistently I think I’ll think of a way to help out others in a more effective way.

But if I see two people harassing another person, I am gonna use some pretty strong language towards those two assholes (not censored? what?!). I don’t tolerate that ■■■■ no matter where it is. I’ve had to experience putting up with it myself, I’ve done it to others, and it’s nothing but 100% horse ■■■■ to have to deal with. So I don’t tolerate it no matter what. Nobody should.

I give away free refined rock at my base, minimum 4 smart stacks everyday, edging closer to giving away 100000 now! It’s the proceeds from leveling, but I figure I might as well try to help someone else out with it if I can.

I leave stuff on shopping stands with 0 cost, and have also included 100s of glass, some doors, lanterns (Inc gleam) and others. I even left 4 free advanced power coils on Xmas day.

If anyone wanders into my build while in there, and they seem like a newish player, I’ll give them freebies if they are looking for something, or advice if they want it, I’ll always answer any questions the best I can.

I’m by no means the most experienced or knowledgeable player, but I think everyone that wants the game to continue should do their best to help anyone who is struggling, or just unsure about how to do things.

I gladly take advice myself from others that have found ways of doing things I maybe had not thought of, and return the favour if I can.

So bring on the ‘noobs’, and to all the new players, don’t be afraid to ask for advice, there will be those that won’t help, but there will be plenty about who will.

I’m not fairly talkative when I’m game but I do like helping out “noobs” as well. I just don’t talk to them tho. They happen to be in the areas I’m farming and don’t have regen bombs or aoe tools so I just throw a bag of bombs and whatever tool it is we are using at them. They usually say thank you and ask what they can do for it. I just tell to have fun.

Too many letters.

I always try to help if I can. I’ll give out iron tools and machines. I try to keep my macines pretty low price so they are noob friendly and keep low level/cheap food in stock.

Though, I think it’s the vets who buy up my cooked meat.

What were their names. I will legally take control of all of their territories simply through expansion. I have a few thousand plots to spare.

I vomited a little in my mouth from that comment.

Open your heart and let the love in… Don’t be afraid to embrace your cosmic innerself and show others that you care. It’s easy to hide behind a wall of cynicism but a lot braver to express positive emotions.

As far as I’m concerned everyone is a noob until I start to see properly sculpted sculptures, including myself. Sure maybe there’s a few out there, but most of what I’ve seen is 2d pixel art and non chiseled sculptures. Level 100 is easy. Bringing out the true potential of the game is uncharted territory.
