Independent players punished by meteors

I’m not worried about meteors.

So if someone dies on a group hunt they can’t return unless someone revives them?

I hope that they are not going to change the hunt mechanic in a way that it doesn’t matter if you are solo or not. Most of the gameplay can you do on your own. You dont have to group to go mining, gathering or building. Before the hunts it was even that the boundless player experience was very solo like.

Since the hunts there has for sure an increase with player interaction then before. If you can do the hunt on your own and and will be the same as a group then there is no point of grouping up then.

Also I want to say that the meteors stay hard when you are with a smaller group of 15. I had with my hunts and small group a few times we lost the meteor.

I don’t fully understand this post or feedback. Is it just because you can’t go on hunts you want to change the meteor system? You can run them, you don’t need to just attend one.

Comparing individual parts of a hunt and calling it unfair looses the big picture. Individual hunts and group hunts are not identical in all ways except for the revive mechanic.

Group hunts have a number of disadvantages to them, with a few advantages (including them being fun once they get rolling). They require someone to lead them, you have to keep the group together to get larger meteors, you can’t ‘hunt when you want’ because you need a group so you can only hunt for as long as the group is hunting, unless you want to exclude people you can’t control what level of DPS is going on the hunt - therefore some hunts take huge amounts of time to kill a meteor.

Also, the same issue that happens in this thread impacts group hunts. If one person gets ahead of the group and starts the meteor, then dies before the group gets there, the meteor dies. Hunt leaders need to keep everyone together, but stay in front to avoid this (I have been on hunts where it happens many times in a row).

I think it breaks down for me like this:

Solo hunts pro: Higher Oort per hour, can hunt for as long as you want, no need to communicate/organize allowing you to control start/stop

Group hunt pro: Faster Higher Tier monster loot, Higher tier loot table from the actual meteor, More exp

Risks for Solo Play - Don’t die

Risks for Group Play - Keep group organized to prevent meteor spawns from being too low level (you will loose people in the group if this keeps happening), Keep group together to prevent meteor from being lost, Need to know route to spawn meteors ahead of time (requires prep), Need to organize the event so people will show up, Need higher tier weapons to fight on the planet so you can actually beat the meteors.

I would not support any changes to the number of deaths for solo. It is already OP for Oort collection, it shouldn’t also be easier.

Revive brews don’t let you keep the meteor? I didn’t know that actually. If that’s the case, then the meteor closing must run checks for number of players alive. If everyone, or in this case, both, people are dead, then the meteor must assume it was purposely abandoned after it runs the check.

Maybe we shouldn’t get three chances to die, instead, what if it was a timer? Like you have X amount of time to run back post death before it closes? Similar to the timer we have when you walk too far away from it. This way, you won’t be walking away angry cause you spent 20 minutes fighting this thing, only to spend all three death tokens back to back from wildstock and those groups of hoppers. And it closing on ya.

Being on a timer would still allow you to walk away from it if we are having a bad day with them and choose to go do something else.

You guys /gals thoughts please?

Ok, I see what we’re doing here, I say left, you say right. I say up, you say down. You just want no death penalty and no lost meteors. I think we’ve firmly studied the shape of this.

I have a better problem. When two meteors are close together, it’s easy to lose one while fighting the other, I think because players get close enough for a meteor life and then get far enough away to abandon.

If you want come an join the shrireling (hubbit network) hunts, gathering at 16:00 UTC starts at 16:30 UTC (Sundays), we run tier 4 hunts and not stress, and beginner friendly, wait for people to regroup and if you die you die, no worries.
Just by being there when the meteor triggered the meteor is bigger, i.e. more loot for everyone.

I was under the impression that if you die on a group hunt you can return to sanctum and then return to the hunt I didn’t realise you could only join back in again unless you were revived. It was not my intention to sound like I was complaining or trying to change anything it was more a case of trying to understand the mechanics involved and I have to admit sometimes I play devils advocate with my questions and comments. I appreciate there is a huge amount of organisation, planning and logistics that go into these hunts and was certainly not trying to take away from that.

On topic, i get that higher tier and then higher level meteoroids are harder to hunt alone than in a group.

But in my opinion that is just fine, it is an MMO, so it is targeted at multiplayer and group experience.

The main question is can people in a group get something a solo player can’t, and with meteors that is a definitive no. Since lower to mid tier planets are easily solo-able.

You can join back in, but you don’t get a new meteor life. The meteor stays active as long as someone still has a meteor life.

I’ve absolutely no problem with the death penalty, and I apologise if you feel I have been too argumentative with you, I thought we where have a discussion and bringing up different points from different points of view.

Excellent point! Yeah that’s an interesting situation.

Thank you for the offer, unfortunately I usually don’t get to log in during the week until at least 8pm GMT and even then it’s usually just for about an hour.

Edited it in the hunt is on sundays, should put day of the week there it helps

Well, take your time. It is cool to just chill and be solo, I do most things alone. There’s some things you just can’t go back on, like portal networks and hunting parties.

Thank you, I would be honoured to attend one of your hunts, I can’t guarantee at this point I will be able to attend yet because things crop up but I will certainly try and make the effort… is 16:00 UTC the same as GMT?

I’m not too sure what this means.

GMT is UTC+1, so it is meeting up at 17:00 and start at 17:30 GMT.

Cool :slightly_smiling_face: thank you
