Although I think you’re 99% correct on this, I might also suggest that some of them are making their presence (and this same attitude problem) known by blatantly abusing the Report function against… someone in this thread.
As an addendum to this, I just remarked about the unchallenged use of an alt-right symbol in another thread… to be trolled by an influential member of the community and told that pointing out a giant dumpster-fire in a non-dumpster-fire-themed thread is off-topic.
You mean the post when i said i wasnt aware it was an alt right symbol (that i didnt post myself) and then said i didnt agree with it’s alt right uses?
… and this is quickly heading down a rabbit hole from which there will be no return
Can anyone point me to anything constructive in this thread that will save it?
You sure you don’t want to regulate the other issue first?
I have limited powers - locking threads or typing stuff to try and get people to talk nicely with one another is pretty much it
People have different opinions. When someone else’s opinion doesn’t match theirs, I think people generally use communication in an attempt to reconcile the difference. Opinions are subjective and aren’t always able to sync up. People want to get the last word in because they think it means they won the argument. but then the other person comes back…
Posting this thread I think is doing the exact same thing you have a problem with to begin with. being super defensive about your opinion. so defensive you made a separate thread to defend.
I’m not trying to trash talk here. I think everyone (both sides) just need to take a step back now and then and just let other people have their opinion.
You’re going to do what you’re going to do, regardless.
i bet he wont
where am I?
To be clear, I wasn’t the least bit bothered by your unfamiliarity with the meme. But I strongly feel that something that’s potentially inflammatory should be addressed immediately, precisely when and where it appears.
As a hypothetical… If we were at a town hall meeting and talking about how to decorate Main Street for a New Year’s Day celebration, and someone punched you in the face while you were speaking… I’m not going to suggest that we defer on addressing that until our next violence-related meeting scheduled for next week.
Can we please put the thread back on topic… instead of creating the exact scenarios this thread was wishing we didn’t have.
Gotcha, a hypothetical like that would be addressed the moment it happened to me. You’re right.
the same problem since over 2-3 years, thats why i am inactive here. it make no sense to write anything here, dev ignore most post and a few player only against everything.
and if anyone will cry now, have fun
see you again in maybe 1 week ^^
Maybe if we keep asking for a proper Mod Team and Community Manager we will get one. This thread is yet another reminder that we need some structure added to the forums.
I may have had my disagreements with Havok, but overall I think he has been doing a good job all things considered. All he can do is manage forums, lock threads that are inappropriate and flag posts - like any of us.
This topic and many of the people who replied here is clear evidence of the topic. Some got really mad and went after moderators for bulls*** reasons.
Instead of locking this thread, you could temporarily hand out mutes
This topic is temporarily closed for 10 hours due to a large number of community flags.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the power to do that - but the community can trigger a temporary pause on threads like these (as we’ve just seen)
