For me it isn’t about existing players losing XP from a crafted item. In fact, it wasn’t stone xp that was only lost, it was basic torch xp that was also lost. At least in those patch notes that’s what it’s saying and I’ve already thought of a work around for this; which shouldn’t be necessary but it is for those that don’t want to spend money to get more plots.
In fact, I don’t think you’re understanding one of the issues involved with removing xp from stone crafting and that’s how new players are going to level that much slower and if leveling is slow then it’s a negative towards player retention and the game’s overall growth.
You’re saying spend $20 on plots or get gleam club (which last time I checked didn’t award any plots) so the devs can continue making and upgrading the game; which I find a laughable argument. Not everyone can even afford to buy the game straight up at the full $40 price tag. On top of that, shelling out $20 for cubits to get an extremely tiny amount of plots is a horrible solution too. In addition, getting Gleam Club means nothing in the grand scheme of leveling up faster, acquiring plots, and retaining players.
This is why I hate leveling systems in games. They cause issues of people feeling like the game is grindy because things are stuck behind some sort of progression wall and that’s exactly what the skill trees are behind.
So no, people shouldn’t get over it. This is a trend of decision making that is bad for the game. I think everyone can agree that they want the game to be a success instead of staying in the rut that it currently is in.
I’m not say everyone should spend money. If can’t afford it don’t. I play on ps4 I paid full price $60 after taxes in October. Played a ton… I mean a ton! Spent $20 on cubits in January for some plots and I fancied up my character. Played even more. Then spent another $20 on gleam club for the beacon refill convenience. And I will be doing gleam club again because I love this game. I don’t think I’ve spent this many hours on any other game. And I’m pretty sure wonderstruck isn’t some multimillion dollar company with hundreds of employees. More likely a handful of 10-20 people doing there best to keep a business going and a bunch of players happy. Which is pretty hard clearly. I’ve probably put 1000 hours in this game. Maybe more. So $0.10 an hour is cheap for the fun I have and the friends I’ve met. Who knows maybe they’ll listen and not change it. Either way I’ll keep building cool stuff and moving forward. I hope everyone else does as well.
Ok guys so here’s my secret to not getting mad on the forums. I imagine everyone prefaced their post with the following disclaimer:
“I’m not complaining the game sucks, I love this game, as evidenced by hundreds of hours on the game and hundreds of posts on forums. I want it to be amazing. I hope that my opinions help the games continue to make the game amazing. Ok here goes:”
And then I don’t feel the need to go full fanboi on people
People don’t get frustrated because they dislike the game. they get frustrated because they LIKE the game and they’re struggling to progress or understand something.
Otherwise needing to flash some credentials to prove your engagement (game time, supporter status, ‘evidence’ of work ‘for the community’) is in fact one of the most mentioned problems that seems to discourage people from joining the larger community here.
