No grudge, Just providing a reality check
James has lied, mislead, and changed things on a whim. So my trust is gone…hopefully monumental doesn’t go down the same path.
I really do hope that James won’t be heading the PR team, as his knack for radio silence in the face of criticism and questions from the community has been one of my major problems I have had with him as a developer.
I think james’ creativity and vision still has a lot to offer the game and his input is a huge bonus for the team at monumental
However, they need to have a plan and timescale in place that DOES NOT rely on that input - but uses it to enchance or provide insight.
He is clearly busy and has let this game fall off his radar while doing other things, and been appalling at communication as a result.
I can’t imagine that James hasn’t done alot to keep the lights on the hamsters fed even under the duress of low server numbersw, lack of time and lack of inflow of cash. It didn’t work out and I’m glad there is some path foreward but I hate that there seems to be a notion that tearing him down is part of that path foreward.
If James isn’t part of the future then you can’t call me a suck up for /saluting him for the journey up to this point.
@monty1 I know it’s early stages, but do you guys have plans to update the game long term for ps5?
This is good news for my favourite game!!
@Awesie I wasn’t Sure if you saw this but I tag you cause i would love to see you make a comeback Boop!
That explains all the things I wasn’t certain of. Thank you for the response.
aren’t free to play players usually gone within a couple of months unless they end up staying?
You may have (hopefully) hit the jackpot with boundless. It’s hard to say personlly I’m dissatisfied with this game and have a meager 1300 hours of game play in the same sentence. But I just did. It is quite repetitive with little variation. Although, It is my most played steam title to date aside from insurgency sandstorm and escape from tarkov.
However, The attrition rate is quite steep for those that just never get past their expectations of what they think they are playing vs what they are actually playing. In my eyes the way this game is portrayed to be like vs what its actually like, it is ambiguous and some might even interpret it as misleading. The same trailer and screen shots have been used (at least on steam) for 4 years, a lot of people that play these types of niche games have already tried it and left. I’m probably not saying anything you or your team haven’t already had discussions about. This is probably on the butcher paper taped to the wall already.
With that, I am curious to witness how your team starts to shape the future of the game when that time comes. Actually, looking forward to it.
I never felt this way. But I came at release, and looked around a bit before I bought. Seemed like a perfectly decent little MMORPG.
It took a while for me to put it together, the number of complaints about this matter. But over that time I’ve come to see how this is really, really true. To begin with, in that prior paragraph, turns out it wasn’t supposed to be an RPG at all so, yeah there’s that ![]()
I love the game I never got bitter about how it was represented, but the marketing and materials that existed were in fact fully schizophrenic, and it was just lucky for me that the genre the game isn’t supposed to be in, but is mostly in, was the genre I wanted to be in anyways.
There are definitely issues with this. And they are easily addressed. The big questions is just, do you present the game as it is and document to support it, or move the game towards what was implied by the original documentation/presentation.
I will venture to say that most many of the people who have really stuck it out would love to see this nurtured into a more RPG oriented universe rather than pared back to being more of a sandbox environment. Changed to many because I’m just speaking on my own, really. Nobody even knows how many people play ![]()
Cool I hope they push out the single player offline stuff soon. I am looking forward to seeing that!
