No beard on profile. Me disappoint. ![]()
Boundless as banner. Me hyped! ![]()
Skepticism is healthy, especially in this case since depending on the day we’re pretty full of either hope or dismay over the state of this game. But my two cents are: Nothing was happening when the game was run by developers (debate the experience level, I guess). So my hope is that this is a change up with some marketing included in the leadership group.
Am I misreading this, or does this mean Turbulenz is no longer the owners of the game, or will they still be working on it?
Genuinely asking out of curiosity here, since I’m not fully sure if I’m reading things right or not.
My understanding is the Turbulenz are no longer owner of the IP, meaning that Monumental have ownership and IP for the game now. I would assume there will be a transition period where the old team will do a handover for a period of time which is normal practice for a sale such as this.
WHO KNOWS lol- just as long as the new owners deposit 1 billion coin to my toon im happy hahaha
Turbulenz sold the game, in its entirety, to Monumental. James and team no longer own the game. Monty and Monumental do. As @kemyobra said, there is a transition period (actively happening right now) where James and team are gradually transferring ownership of everything over to Monumental. Meanwhile, Monumental is working on building a fresh development team to support Boundless - which Monty himself said can take a while and that we may not see ANY updates to the game until at least 6 months have passed.
Involvement in developing the game doesn’t need ownership.
Owning and developing are two different things. Of course an owner can be a developer of the game he owns, but equally losing ownership doesn’t mean lack of further involvement in the developing process.
Long story short:
Ahhh so I won’t be returning after all. Sorry but Lied to once and deceived by James, won’t let it happen again.
Yeah. The evil James lol.
The developers have always done a great job, update after update it’s been good (except nerfing teaching pies, still mad about that
(jk)). I hope the current devs have a chair at the table. Give them the extra support, time and money, this game will flourish like never before!
LOL. Sometimes people are funny…
I pray that you can make this game the Minecraft killer I know it can be!
Ok wow this is spectacular.
Confused. Isn’t this good news.
We have had many discussions on here about our hopes and dreams for f2p supercharging the universe and/or ruining it.
Make sure to learn from the plotting disaster of the free to play weekends please. Free to play players should only be able to plot on free planets probably.
I was sarcastic.
One can move on and enjoy the game being in new hands or keep old grievances.
It was response to the post above mine although somehow it didn’t show who I replied to.
In-house, we have Mythgard, Crowfall, Boundless and an unannounced CCG.
We are working with an amazing partner in Argentina to rebuild (remaster) Little Alchemist and Storm Wars.
We also have two mobile games that we purchased but aren’t actively developing (yet): Looty Dungeon and Rift Heroes.
I’m always happy to answer questions on my background.
Being an entrepreneur in the gaming space is really hard; I’ve been luck to have a few successful “exits”.
There were points in my career where I wished there was a Monumental to come in and help me. That’s one of the reasons I chose this model.
We aren’t looking for failed games - we are looking for amazing games that should’ve been massive hits - but missed their market. Like Boundless.
Over the next few months, Boundless will transition fully to Monumental. We have visitors in Austin all week helping us kick that process off.
Despite my best efforts, we’re building a new team for the game. I’d love for ALL of them to join Monumental but I haven’t been able to pry them away. We have great relationships with the developers that we’ve acquired games from; we ask for their advice and feedback.
Boundless will always be James and team’s baby. We’re trying to continue the hard journey they embarked on. We’ll always be seeking their approval and trying to honor their efforts.
James is still going to be a part of boundless, in case you missed that part (Its in the last part of his post). If James wasn’t…I would be more supportive of Monumental but considering the past and how James has been…there is a reason why History is taught in classrooms. To not be repeated. Because of James’s decisions, lack of care for those who actually contributed to his team but failing to even thank the early backers (name will be in credits, anybody?) or even thanking the early backers in his post… He has shown no appreciation to the playerbase.
I haven’t missed it. I quoted it, for a reason.
All I’m saying is judge the game and its performance NOW. So pay attention to how the new team interacts with community.
But yeah, it’s your decision to still feel hurt and disappointed as well as not playing. Fair enough.
