I was recently given a friends old laptop when I was in hospital, so I decided to get an alt account to bring along on hunts. I was levelling them up a bit to get some health and luck by mining gleam, when I realised I could easily mine gleam with both accounts at the same time, as my mining setup for gleam is bottom up, so I can use the mouse in one hand and a controller in the other. I did this to get the levels and didn’t think much of it, but I have been wondering since weather this is against the rules. I know of others doing this for orb or gleam mining, but one of those people has been banned, and I am not allowed to know why. I’m sure for some of you this is a clear moral violation, but is is against TOS? I am controlling both the characters, I have bought both copies of the game and it is even less afk than bringing an alt on a hunt, as I don’t think I have the dexterity to use a keyboard mouse and controller, whilst also watching both screens to hunt successfully.
Also if this does raise moral issues with anyone feel free to let me know as I’m a bit on he fence about doing this again, but it got me lots of gleam to sell and I’m technically playing the game with both accounts (even if only one has to use regen bombs).
This has already been addressed. Regardless of what others may have been banned for which isn’t something that is discussed, if you want to risk being banned for something that is obviously against TOS then by all means.
Most people that run hunts do so on their Sov. So I would ask the hunt leader/owner if they allow it. It does not break TOS because you are not fully AFK the entire hunt.
Redlotus is quoting a thread about an AFK XP farm NOT hunting.
You are controlling both characters and collecting loot. Those that have a problem are upset they don’t get extra loot and don’t think it’s fare they are using up their forged gear so you can reap the benefit.
Personally, as a former Hunt Leader I did not care if people had an ALT as long as they had one character helping kill things.
MORE PEOPLE = BIGGER METEORS
BIGGER METEORS = BIGGER CREATURES
BIGGER CREATURES = MORE LOOT
For the record, I agree more people bigger meteors… I could easily run 20 accounts and solo bigger meteors. But that doesn’t make it right. Ive been in many hunts where people bring alts… the alts AFK during the meteor … then the player switches to the other gathers the loot and moves on… I am very well aware how it works.
I am quoting what was said about AFK… period. If you have a toon AFK during a 15 min meteor it’s still AFK. So as I stated if you want to risk that… that’s your choice.
Yup I am good with that as long as there is space. If the planet becomes full it usually just takes an ask to remove alts to allow other players in. In most cases you only have 1-3 alts at most.
I’ve basically asked the same question about hunts and was referred to the same post. As I said, do as you will, just understand it’s a risk and against TOS.
Couldn’t find anything from Tiggs saying no ALT’S on hunts, only about Macros Farming AFK. Which is why the “FULLY” AFK Xp Farm that was built, was against the rules.
Being on a hunt actively controlling multiple accounts is not considered AFK despite what others say. AFK means Away From Keyboard and the person is not.
Tiggs stated it many times that if you are AFK it’s against the rules. Take it as you will. When I specifically asked about it in regard to Alts on hunts, I was directed to the AFK thread stating that AFK is against the rules. A timeframe isn’t discussed.
As I also stated, I am aware of alts on hunts I used to do it on my son’s account and was the whole reason I asked about. We have all seen it, but there is no sense in arguing that the alt isn’t AFK, as it is while you shoot at the meteor on your main account. 10 meteors, 15 mins AFK per Meteor for it to be cleared (give or take) is a little over 2 hours AFK.
I’ll close this thread the same way it was closed in the other thread asking the same question.
