boundless needs new ways to get coin (quests, converting blocks to coin) has of right now footfall is the only means to getting any coin and has it stands right now the sinks(guild buffs) are adding up to more then coin generated by footfall and i get footfall right now is being “fixed” but that just screams that fact that footfall overall is just not a reliable source or income for a average player or for generating coin into the game.
it would be nice to see quests in the game or maybe a machine that converts items to coin it would also premote the other types of gameplay (mineing, hunting) and not make the game so build focused.
I have seen it mentioned in other posts, but the sanctum guy has no job. So let him buy at least rocks/timber/foliage ect. even if its limited to only a few basic things so other will have to be sold in game. Itll help fill a gap that FF has created. by the way my FF is about 50% now, better then the <10% last few days.
There are also the feats in-game to help make coin. I just use the feats, farming materials, and light footfall. No issues here, but I’m not pumping out guild buffs lol
Feats only last so long. once you get up in the rank of them. its not that easy lol. They do help when you are first starting out on a new character. But my main has got just about every one up to a certain rank. They have slowed way down.
yea my self i would class feats as being even less reliable then footfall it would work if we where getting in like 300+ new chars a day but other then that it gives varly little coin
Footfall will never be the answer to the coin problem until they give people more reason to explore. One way is
if they tweak the current Method to also give the person exploring a % of the coin also. And you get less coin the more you frequent the same settlement.
If not it would have to be
2. Real quests, not just feats.
And/or
3. Mobs/blocks drop coin
Of course well established shops can bring in coin but theres a large amount of work that comes with that (especially since a lot of people dont have the coin to buy in the first place). Ultimately this also leads to shop owners not having much chance to enjoy the rest of the game and they either get burnt out and quit or shut their shop down.
I really believe that giving us a % of the footfall we give people when we enter a beacon is the best way to go about this though. Even Bonus coin for finding those random beacons in the wild would be good.
Money is the ultimate motivator, how can we expect the common player to explore without incentive? How do we get someone to go searching for unseen builds if they get nothing out of it?
I like the idea of daily feats, but I don’t think I dig the idea of quests. That kinda goes against the whole boundless thing.
I mean, who is giving the quests? The citizens (us) are supposed to be the only ones around.
It’s the same reason I’m not thrilled about the idea of ancient ruins or something like that. Part of the appeal of Boundless is that every “artificial” structure you see was build by the players, not the devs.
dress up as a fat roadrunner and run around town
our something like paintings our pixelart drawings something ya can put ya own twist on and make unique selling product
also painted furniture
clothing shops
hat shop
specialized colors =paints
specialty items that are good sellers but take more specialized gathering
sanctum guy could give the quests, and the ruins could come from degenerated builds of players who quit
Edit: also in the lore aren’t we left after an older civilization? so theoretically there should be remnants of that civilization and their builds. it would be really cool if the old alpha worlds are saved somewhere, or old test server builds that are still player made and can be put somewhere to find as ruins
I agree there shouldn’t be quests, but ancient ruins and/or treasures make sense. I mean, obviously there was/is something else because we find ancient technology while digging.
We already have ruins, they just don’t give us anything for exploring them (plus they are limited). I have found stonehinge like structures (i have a pic on my old laptop since i bought a new one like 3 weeks ago), and I know on besavrona there are remnants of houses in the form of sporadic areas of refined meta blocks that are chiseled flat.
I have actually considered starting a guild that tries to preserve some of these structures of the ancient Oort, so us Citizens can study them…
If you’re gonna put 4 weekly 160k coin sinks into the game there HAS to be a way to make that money. And not just “Oh, just have a guild with 100 players who each donate 6,400c per week.”
A couple of times i had suggested a recycling machine. I still think this would be a good way to actively generate some income, also would kind of produce some base line values for in game items.
It would have to be a very low value income, ie 10 rocks=1c, something like that.
And each time a base item is processed it would lose value, to avoid the refined rock xp machine, then recycle the ref rock for same amount of coin as base rock.
Using that for an example would give people a choice, do I grind up my rock for coin or process it for xp.
Eventually the servers are gonna fill up with people’s junk they hoard. Maybe not within the next 100 years, but it’s gonna happen. This game needs a junk sink.
