I am not saying it was okay to use. What I am saying is that we are not taking any of the coin away that players received from Spark in the Chrysominter whilst the prices were inflated.
There were a lot of people concerned about it on this post, so I was clarifying that for them.
But by not taking it away, isnât that setting an example that future potential bugs that could be exploited can be without repercussion as long as there considered âbugsâ?
Regardless I want to offer my praise for fixing the issue quickly. Iâm sorry if iâm being a downer, but I just donât want to see instances in the future of this basically happening again, which is why iâm concerned about this corse of action.
Forgive me for saying this but Iâm not sure this is clear as mud. The posts in this forum make this topic even more confusing for me personally. It almost sounds like it depends on how many on the forums complain about it.
I wish the dev team would simply ignore the loudest forum complainers and be more clairvoyant of this with regards to how they envision the game should function and be played.
This might be a bit of a silly question, but did the minter/spark price oopsie come back again, hence the quick patch that just happened, or was it just the once.
Just wondering why we got a patch with very little info other than a post saying dont exploit
Perhaps, as this will continue, we need something like the modding section of the forum for scripting.
With no intention of coming off rudely, âdisabilityâ is anything from mild RSI to a lack of limbs. Perhaps we can make moves to bi-directionally level the playing field on this one by bringing it into the open and thus having clear definitions/discussions on what is acceptable.
If it is acceptable for one player to have a script or macro that moves their avatar along a line and plants seeds at specific intervals (one extreme) or simply clicks the mass craft button XX times in a row (the other) should this not be acceptable for all players?
At risk of coming off like Iâm trying to be obtuse here (Iâm not) I donât understand why something like a complex planting/harvesting macro should be available/allowable for some players and not others.
IDK this reaches perhaps into some larger sociological issues however as noted here and in the other thread I started, âdisabilityâ is a term that covers a broad spectrum of situations and conditions. It seems like in a situation where having (or claiming to have) a disability provides clear advantages, perhaps itâs best to seek some balance in the overall situation.
maybe the game simply needs:
craft 10/max button in maschines
tiller forge that plants the seeds in offhand as 3x3
and hold / toggle button option for the right/lefthand and autowalk/jump
then there is nearly anymore need for extern scripting and lots of fit players are happy too
A software bug is an error, flaw or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways.
A wrong value in a config file that causes the software to behave in unintended ways is a bug acording to the definition. And as a end user you donât care what caused the bug, just the end result.
Farming in the game is a bit lop-sided in my opinion, I can harvest incredibly fast with an AoE tool, but planting is soooooooo slow. I hope that in future we do get a tool with which we can plant seeds faster and more at a time!
But⌠as a stop gap solution the devs now could change the planting speed somewhat, perhaps take the action speed skill into account for it which means that even planting just 1 at a time goes a bit faster. If I can run at a nice speed over it and not skipping a block it would help so, so, so much!!
I full well know what a bug is tho⌠Thing is, even with your explanation this is still not a bug, itâs not an error, flaw or a fault in a computer program or system. Itâs a wrong value in a config file. And heck we still really do not know why there was a wrong value, typo, test value not corrected before going live or did they initially think this was a good value for it. If the latter no matter thru how many hoops you want to jump it would not be a bug. And the point of it all is, is that if itâs not clear that itâs a bug it can not be an exploitâŚ
Also, the program did not behave in unintended ways, it behaved as it should, it read a value of the config file and used that value correctly.
The solution, for instance, to some players having block changing macros and some not, is a block changing machine.
The solution to some players having autoclicking hardware or macros for crafting and some not, is âcraft allâ and âmove allâ buttons.
etc ⌠there are many situations where people see real QoL problems and these activities can not only aggravate, but initiate certain types of disability. There are too many variables and thatâs why i have decided to advocate for bringing it out fully into the open so that:
Players can take pride in their investement/work in this area if it is seen to benefit the community as a whole
Real/honest discussions can be had on the line between âQoLâ and âUnfair Advantageâ
Game development (interfaces, workflows, other activities) can be advanced in areas where players and developers, as a community, agree that there is a need for improvement and have worked towards or implemented external solutions.
IMO everybody benefits, not just a select few, and far fewer peopl have to worry about what is or isnât being âshadyâ in this area.
I still vote for robotics. I want little robots tending to my goo plants. They can plant, harvest, and fertilize. As farming goo is not going to benefit from forging as you dont plant in 3x3. @FayaAOP yes pre-programmed as I have no programming exp and have not leveled in this way for rl.
I would top your robots with a sort of fix for stacking things. I am so tired of sorting rocks that I kind of feel I need to take a break from the game until this is fixed/implemented/whatever just give me a way not to spend hours sorting rocks
I donât know Faya, I know from PERSONAL experience that Iâve reported a bug to the dev team, and I was the ONLY person to report that to them, and they handled it. So my experience is different from yours. I canât do anything but but tell of MY experiences and opinion, but the team has shown that big or small, they care.
Some things take time, tact or care to handle, some can be resolved easily. Sometimes the choices they make are what there team feels is the best choice to make, and I donât always agree, but I can see the logic.
Letâs be honest, there is no possible decision ANY Dev or leader of a large community can make, that will be a perfect solution to EVERY person
The response from them is not contradictory - you just have to look at the context of the message:
âan exploit is what Wonderstruck deems to be an exploitâ. âŚSo the decision on that needs to come from our teamâ
âif an exploit or bug happens and you actively use this to make any advantage in Boundless, then this is against the rules and action may be taken.â
They will take each situation in context to what people do and how they act and how it affects the game for all. If they feel the actions are severe enough the person that abused it will be dealt with accordingly.
in other words all you have to do is report it if you see any behavior that leads to modding/exploits/scripting/botting what happens next is none of our concern non our business.
just do whatâs expected from you as a loyal player.
nice idee but pls only if they
are not full automatic (maybe each run you need to start it)
have a limited field size
need spark/oort/petroleum as fuel
or i see most farming Produkts going under 1c each
