Thank you for all the kind comments. I took some of the advice here and decided to whack my campfire down anywhere. I found somewhere called Aurora and itâs near there. I actually ran into someone and they waved at me but I didnât know how to wave back, sorry. I then promptly fell in lava. Oops.

Dont worry too much about your first base, think of it as a phase one to get you started, as it likely wont last longâŚ
You will most definitely find its too small, youâll find friends and want to move closer to them, youâll find inspiration to build something bigger and better, youâll find new planets that are prettier, youâll find new challenges and better resources you want to be nearer to.
2 years in and i still do this weekly. And its great.

My best advice to you would be to join the discord of one of the communities here 
There are a ton of communities who are super welcoming to new players, and they will actually love it when you bombard them with questions (because you WILL have 100s of them 
)
This is a good place to start!

XD same! lol! make your home in a big city for max support. Try to spawn near a megastore early in the game. When i first started, i was in Horizon City with a mini mall. It helped a ton! try to do it too
Itâs not /wave on PS4. This is one thing thatâs really tough about it being cross platform. People in game almost majority say âjust press [insert keyboard shortcut here]â even after I tell them Iâm on PS4 
Itâs so much harder for us console players lol
Trying to remember the steps without having the game openâŚOn PS4 I believe you need to open chat with the left side of the middle pad, press triangle, select emote, and select wave.

You can select an emote on PS4, but /wave still works. I use ps4 sometimes too : )

Thank you all for your help. I set up a small base by Aurora. By small, I mean a camp fire, a beacon, and a crafting table. Itâs not much, but itâs a start. I really appreciate all the help. It was very overwhelming at first but the game is so beautiful that I need to persevere!

could i invite you to our town its a europe server
on planet nia zed ka
we have portals to go around town
and to travel around the world
lots off experienced players around
that always ready to answer questions etc
lot off our mistakes you dont need make then 
if you use one off the mayor world hubs ultima/tnt/etc and go to nia zedka you end up in our towncenter off sunken town aquatopia
then youle find the golden metro ride it to ash village thats where we all live
theres also a few other provinces with metro connections
and public services areas with some hard to get machines and stuffz
ow and current side project is a themepark where we provide the materials etc to work with
do whatever ya like and have funz
also have a discord
and a mall
Didnât know that!
Although that still seems like a ton more work because of all the taps to get from one character to the next.

It is but luckily common phrases are saved and any time you hit / a list of your commonly used emotes will pop up
