Ok soooooo

As Ive said before. All of my skill points will be going in to combat and healing related skills (yet no defense or resistance so Ill pretty much be a glass canon lol). From my math it would take exactly 100 skill points to get all the ones I wants. That means when it comes to crafting then I wouldnt be able to make anything further than a stone furnace, workbench, crafting table and extractor.

So how could I get those other (machines)? Do people sell them or something? Or would people who can craft them be willing to craft them for me if I supply them with the ingredients? Speaking of ingredients. What if something I wanted required Spark? How exactly would I farm and give that to someone to use for me?

Lastly what about this. I have a total of 6 points in food and brew crafting. Now from what Ive seen all food does is increase your energy, and eating like 2 cooked meats fills it all the way up and making that requires no food crafting skills. As for brews it looks like those are just status buffs/debuffs… That being said how important are those two skills, they dont seem too important at all (and Im sure its easier and cheaper to buy food and brews than it would be to buy machines right?). Would I be better off cleansing those two skills and pouring all 6 points into tech (for grappling hooks) and machine crafting instead?

As for your crafting needs, i’m pretty sure you can find a good supplier that would exchange all you need for raw material. Crafters always need raw material, mainly fibrous leaves, salpeter fragment, gems, ores and coal. Theres tons of other things that are usefull to crafters so it’s not a problem. As of now, the economy in the game is not yet stable so you will have to look around to find a good price or find someone you can work with that will give you prefered prices on what you need. PM me if you really need something, i’m pretty sure i can make you need.

If you wanted to learn to craft without creating an alt character, you will have to wait a while. Once you hit level 50 and have spent the max 100 skill points in your main spec, you will continue to earn skill points which you could assign to a seconds skill spec. That way, you could swap out your skill specs and be able to craft things (There is a timed lockout on switch when not done inside of your home beacon).

More advanced food offers extra buffs that are well worth getting hold of, but getting a good explanation of this stuff in game is difficult. This post is worth a visit though.

i personally like the idea that ppl cant be everything. if you are a healing damage dealer you should not be able to be a crafting master, and a tank, and a portal network builder aswell…

if you can hunt, gather, craft and fight everything easy with the same character, then there would be no need for trading at all.

i agree with this also and am happy they did it this way,FF14:arr allowed you to do everything on 1 character and while gearing was less of an issue it also mean that character lacked that…i dont know, attachment to it i guess would be the closest description.

Sooo two things.

  1. no ones told me if I should drop the points in brew and food for tech and machines based on what I said.

  2. since you cant do everything how would I acquire spark if I needed it?

Also since you cant do everything why do we have journal objectives that assume you can? As for skill points after 50 and switching between skill sets so you can do more I plan to do that and itll let me do everything I want to do. But the fact that you need 200k per 2 points after 50. It could take months to get to that point. Soooo until that day finally comes I’ll need some way to get other stuff done.

I created an alt character 4 days ago to do all my crafting, in those four days he’s levelled to 19 and can now craft almost everything in game. I never liked the idea of Alt characters but cant argue with the results. I now have 2 characters, a hunter/miner and a crafter, only takes 10secs to switch between them so I load up all my machines to mass craft and then switch back and go out killing, really effective.

A) theres not right or wrong answer to this, its more about do you want to be good at crafting weapons, tools, food, brews? its completely up to you

B) spark has nothing to do with crafting skill, just need a spark generator+fuel like coal etc

C) the journal does not assume you can do everything, the different types of objectives are just there to mainly cover all play styles or in case you respec and want a different playstyle

D)at lvl 50+ your be on high tier worlds so it wont takes anywhere near months per 1 level, even going slow you should level up atleast once-twice per day minimum.

E) what ppl mean when they say you cant do everything is its a bad idea to try be a crafter+gatherer on 1 skill set because while you’d be able to do both decent enough you lock yourself out of crafting the top tier items due to lack of points (basically jack of all trades great at nothing)

Well my hunter wouldn’t be much of a hunter/miner since he’d have no skills in tools or gathering so more like just a hunter lol

i have 1 hunter,1 gatherer and 1 crafter myself, personally better to have alts that cover different bases but each to their own, some people dont like having more than one character
