i disagree actually in some small things. u can make a very focused character, shadow armor+control to survive everything and then sell stuff in the shop and use economy to progress. or reskill much. having alts is not mandatory for survival or even to be effective, because if u know the game u can use the economy to ur advantage. Dying alot is not mandatory for only 1 character game too. But its a very special way of playing this game, with its own special rules and we can argue some about if this is really effective.

I advised many players to create an alt because they tried to be everything with one low lvl character which is clearly not an effective way to go

We did the math and if you want to do every possible spec in the game as effective as possible, you need 10 chars/specs.

what are the possible specs u are talking of?

i right now lvl a miner, crafter/portal/ builder, surface gatherer/explorer, lumberjack/shoveller, hunter and a forge smith.

From them only my lumberjack is not at a lvl where i am really content with the skill set. The forge smith i see as maxed out when i filled the attribute bonus, which is in 2 lvls (btw i know i could lvl them all with mass crafting stones, but thats not my way to play the game :stuck_out_tongue: also, my crafter need all that tasty stone xp)

Ah I see, have you Hunted on tier 4-6 worlds? I find those super interesting, even tho the creatures are the same name but different “levels” their different attacks name them seem like new creatures  are you saying you have trouble making money then?

Thank you much  I do too, I normal go around the shops to find a good deal for insane slingbow/grapple then see the price (alot) go Gathering/Hunting, sell what I have found, then go buy that expensive (rightfully so) piece of gear :+1: This game is a great goal setter/achiever

That’s what I explain in the video  The poll is just to see what everyone is getting up to

I want to reply to everyone, slbut don’t want to keep “bumping” the post, so I’ll fit a lot of people o one reply

@vesperdem - you’re moving your settlement?! Damn I do not envy you, what’s your reason for moving? Maybe there is something else in the game which you could do, instead of mining, that is enjoyable and profitable? That way you could just buy your gems/ores etc?

@crypticworlds - I wasn’t around l back when you could only have 1 character and 1 skill set, but I can certainly say they’re gone in the right direction and allowed for multiple characters/skill pages - really opens up your options

@Honourless - ah yeh that is main dilemma, do I wait and have less characters (which can be easier to focus on), or get multiple characters and have the range of skills sooner  I think I’ll stick with 3, then if I want more I’ll just level them up for the extra skill pages :+1:

@Pseudonym84 - That sounds like a perfect combination of skill sets to you, you’re going to have a nice well rounded ‘elite’ character when you’ve completed the other skill sets! Better get that hunting skill page sorted for when Titans come out

@Zina - oh of course, this poll is just to find out when the community is up to, not to determine what’s best  Those are all very good points, so if you do enjoy all those aspects of he game you would definitely need more than one character, or you could get away with fewer characters if you’re happy to wait till you can get 3 skill pages per character. Personal preference for sure tho! Oooh yes I need to save up for that pumpkin mask too, excited for the Halloween event to start!

My party is made up:

Meteor Hunter \ surface resource gatherer - Main
Crafter \ Builder (decorations crafting + mass) with chiseling and portal epics
Rock Gatherer (intentionally not calling it miner since I never set out gathering ores)
Wood\Dirt Gatherer

my setup is made up entirely to support my love for building things,
hunter gets me the moniez,
gatherers gather me materialz
builder builds dem pretty thingz

@bregma - that’s a nice well spread set you have there, without having too many characters to keep up  hahaha I have to make my own Oort body disposer :smirk:

@Biv Ahh so you enjoy the crafting side of things? I with crafting, I find crafting brews and foods more enjoyable, mainly as I can blast through them when hunting and not have to worry about having enough money to buy them (some of the better brews can be quite expensive atm in cities, but you’re paying for that convenience for sure!)

@Pseudonym84 - I haven’t even looked into completing feats (had to look up what they were then you just mentioned them  ) but having all the feats one character has a feeling of ‘completism’ that I enjoy getting from a game. Also I agree, a limit to a lot of things is time (which I like also, because I’d prefer something to take time, over being easier, as you feel proud to have completed something over a player who hasn’t put as much effort in as you have - of course there is a balance but I actually enjoy the grind  )

@Greybeard - I get where you’re coming from, it would be great to have one character who I can say is an expert in Hunting, Building and Brew + Food Crafting but I’m just not patient enough, maybe I’ll reduce the amount of characters I have when I unlocked more skill pages on the ones I play the most

@Shadesmar - I totally agree, you don’t have to have alts, nor do you have to be good at everthing aspect of the game, I love that fact you can use the player economy in your advantage to supplement getting materials you need (a hunter can easily make money to buy the weapons they need, without the need to craft weapons themself - which is what I do!)

@Dhusk - wow, thats a bit too many for me, but luckily we don’t have to have our fingers in the pies to progress in this game, there player ran economy is my source for most of my items (weapons/tools/teaching foods)

I am moving due to a neighbor overrunning the name of my settlement. I logged in one morning and instead of the name of my home, I as welcomed with the odd name of my neighbor. Why, because they had more prestige than I did. I didn’t want to destroy the look I had created in my build with gaudy blocks just to gain enough prestige to get the name back. Plus, they would then be seeing my name when they log in. I had a theme going and their name ruined it, so off I go.

As for the mining, I enjoy the mining aspect of the game. I also enjoy the exploration, the meteors, the hunting, etc… The one thing I’m not all that fond of is the crafting. Mostly due to the over-the-top times it takes to craft some things, and I haven’t even got to some of the really top tier crafts yet. Being forced to wait over an hour just to craft signs (mass size of course) is pretty ridiculous.

The next shop I create will be more for the results of mining/hunting/etc… I think I’m going to leave the crafting to those with the patients to handle that. Plus, my crafter is the farthest behind in levels due to the specialization and the need to gather the resources necessary to craft the things to gain levels.

Ahh I see, yeh that is a problem - i know where you’re coming about the theme builds (i’m making one myself, tudor). Also I can’t agree more with the “leave the crafting to the crafters”, just like real life, I don’t really want to make my own tables and chairs, so I’ll leave that to Ikea  Patients is definetly some you need when being a crafters, but also that is the reason why our economy works, do you want to wait an hour? No? Then pay someone who does - personally I think it’s a great system, but I understand it can be frustrating to some

I too want to open up a shop somewhere, but the thing I still need to work out is location, location, location - I a great shop in a not so great area, is not goign to get great income - so I’ll leave that till I start a bigger…city… build

Interesting chose of stores considering the amount of “crafting” you have to do after purchasing something from Ikea.

The nice thing about portals is location isn’t all that important. Just open a portal in all the major hubs and you will get quite a bit of foot traffic and ultimately sales. I didn’t have much in my first store, but made nearly 100,000c in just a few days.

When it comes to shops, I’m having the hardest time just locating a shop that sells what I am looking for in tools and weapons. I suppose a call to want to buy something here in the forums is a decent way to find an item and I know that there are shops that due special orders, so that’s an option too.

Right now though, I just need to concentrate on the move. Once that is done, I’ll start the process of setting up a shop and such…

That is a very good point, you still have to make it yourself when buying from Ikea… a bad example

Damn, I could do with 100,000c in a few days! I know of a few ‘god’ weapons/tools, but yeh its a good idea to write the location down when you find one

Where abouts are you moving to? Or is a that a secret till it’s done? (don’t want any more merging)

My biggest seller was Sweet Beans. I went through a bunch. Also, Cotton Cloth sold very well.

I was on Trior and I’m moving to Pheminorum. I’m pretty far away from a few settlements on hills and in the near distance. I should be OK for now. I just hope that if I do merge with someone, we can agree on a name that would worth with what I themed.

It sounds really harsh when I say that I think they’ve made it too easy giving us too many options. When I read they had given so many alts I was very surprised and rather upset. Doing that can make shops obsolete. How?

If you can have every skill needed to make everything you need to survive you won’t want to buy. Shops came about because people couldn’t multitask in such a way and were restricted, so they were coerced into having to buy what they needed to survive and grow. Now you can have every possibility on one account you don’t need to rely on shops, making coins redundant and helping people get higher and higher prestige to stay in the top five on worlds for eternity.

If you have alts and you’re smart…you don’t need coins to be some of the best.

There is no leaderboard for wealth accumulated in this game. So coins actually mean nothing. People only value prestige. And with many alts that’s easy to achieve.

That being said, I only have one and that’s just to do the couple of skills I cannot do on my main. I refuse to do any more at the moment as I feel like I would be cheating if I did.

No, Oorts are ancient civilization, chars we are playing are not Oorts. Iirc it was mentioned couple of times in forums by devs.
As for number of chars I mostly agree with Pseudo, but with heavy switching of epics and skills depending on what I do, since buying cleanse points is an option and I have more money than time :joy::joy::joy::nerd_face:

I had a suspision we wern’t Oort! Thankyou for clearing this up for me!

I found Cotton Cloth to also b a great way to make some coin, rarely find request baskets for them tho. Ah I see, well good luck with the move, hope its not too tedious

Well I think they fact that people will always (in real life too) value time over money. Especially in game as money can become limitless, time is always finite. So on the basis of that, I think Shops will grow and grow, definietly as they become more stocked and possibley other cities pop up which have a grea layout of all their shops and could ahve different “quarters” such as a hunting quarter, or a mining quarter - somewhere where you can go for everything to do with that specialisation  Als the great thing is, is that you can play however you want and it still be the ‘right’ way to play
