And yet, many people do overlook that whole I/O thing the PS5 is doing which a super duper fast SSD for PC’s won’t be able to do without some other changes…

Dive into it, it’s kinda fascinating if you like that sorta stuff

Yeah, it was a lot of talk. As usual. Based on the specs it’ll be comparable to an equivalent generation budget gaming PC. No big surprises there. Tiny storage that is slower than the hype claims, mediocre processing power, and a GPU that is great for the price, but won’t stand up against PCs for very long at all. It’s a deja vu of the last three console hypes that I saw. Price point is great for when it first comes out though, $500 is something I bet you won’t be able to make with PC components.

As I said, when it comes out they (PS5 and XSX) will be faster than most PC’s currently being used for gaming.

As usual this will change over time. Only thing I have my doubts about is the whole I/O thing, not sure if PC’s will be able to match that but it’s also unclear if they even need to if non-PS5 games are not taking advantage of it…

I also doubt you have seen both videos in less than 10 minutes

My comment about ‘lots of talk’ is that there were many PC master racers who did not believe Epic’s claims about the SSD stuff in the PS5…

Ah well, am sure I will be enjoying the thing once it arrives. It sure will be a major step up from my PS4 Pro (and it will be faster than my current, only 1 year old, PC)…

Already have  I’ve read what they claim. Does anyone know yet who the secret manufacturer is of their “custom SSD”? Custom gaming PCs are already clocking close to those speeds and have = or more tflops.

The SSD is not the major thing tho, it’s the I/O stuff that is mostly impressive. Yes you can already now buy a RAID setup with SSD’s that can get you a theoretical higher SSD speed but due to the I/O bottlenecks you won’t see many benefits of it unlike with a solution as Sony (and MS in a slightly lesser way) have done…

Actually, the newer SSDs are a huge reason the newer systems will be able to access/read data faster. Many times faster.

I’ve also said it’s bad that some people are rocking old CPUs (that don’t have enough cores to process all of the data fast enough). Heck, some still don’t have dedicated GPUs either lol

Regarding your poll above, it’s currently at 72%:37% PC:Playstation. Is that ratio a little high you think, or pretty close to reality?

I always thought there were more PS4 players than PC players tbh. This is only polling people on the forums though…lots of players don’t come to the forums. It’s been out for a long time for PC players - dunno when PS4 was added.

Well, I checked both

Me, too. Nothing beats kicking back on my couch 12 feet away from my TV screen in my comfortable living room! Where I live no one owns an Xbox, but I see a lot of people using the Nintendo Switch. I don’t know how much work is involved in making this game run on all the big platforms but it sure would be awesome to see!

I would think that some ps4 players are not aware of the forum? PC and steam kind of send you to the forum, or at least shows it exists. You can’t go directly to the forum from the PS4.
