And I guess I am biased in the other way, because minecraft haves redstone and pistons and more which allows for more complex things you can build that can sometimes also be functional, such as mob processing farms, or elevators with functional cabs, Minecraft also haves mods that allow you to build some pretty extreme Automation networks such as the Applied Energistics mod.
I find it far more fascinating to watch someone building something that haves a function, then it is to watch someone build something that is mostly decorative.
The thing is I am a very practical person. I am not creative at all, if you look at my build, it is 85% Iron and Concrete. The only thing my build haves going for it is maybe the size of my build. I excel at building things that have a function, and there is very little of that in Boundless at this time.
The one thing that boundless does beat minecraft at when it comes to building, is the Chisel system and being able to reshape blocks into other shapes.
I say all of this not because I dislike boundless, I am still here posting my viewpoints on the forums because I think the game haves potential and can be made into something very good if the right things are added.
Functionality makes building way more fun. Boundless workshops are a great example of this- the ways people set up their spark generators and conduits and all their work stations and engines to maximize productivity in creative ways is excellent compared to minecraftā¦ but thatās basically the only example. We donāt even have anything to interact with besides doors.
I donāt think Iāve seen your builds. But they canāt be any more boring than mine. Iāve been building boxes for almost 2 years before I started doing pyramids and diamonds. But something that looks like an actual house? Nah, I donāt have the patience for it.
No idea if it still applies after Boundless sold to Monumental, but part of the deal that brought Boundless to Playstation was a console exclusivity deal with Sony. I hear it run well enough on a Steamdeck though.
@monty1 does that Sony deal still stand after yāall acquired the game? I have friends that would love to play on their Switch.
#2 You can leave your footprint on a Minecraft world in boundless nobody will ever know you were there. Good and bad for both but definitely creates a feeling like your the only one there āaloneā could be a better system involved maybe cut regen back drastically like every month or so but still allow players to use bombs to speed it up.
#3 husbandry animal farming was something mentioned in oort online boundless never had a chance
#4 automate everything through redstone farming, storage, doors, weapons, exciting stuff boundless doesnāt have any of that and would benefit greatly from it.
When I watch a YouTube video of someone playing Minecraft itās not to see them pvp another player āwhich boundless also doesnāt haveā or how they build a house its to watch them set up some automated machine that looks cool or serves a purpose so I can build it also Would be nice for boundless to have anything similar.
Would also be nice for grass to grow and trees to grow .
Iāve already suggested a while ago that they cut the price a bit, since itās a bit expensive for what it is.
Iād still say cutting it by 50% would be a more reasonable cost, even if I paid a lot more for it myself, as a backer.
Or at least cutting it from 40 euro down to 25.
@monty1
I hope the price drop extends to the PlayStation version as well. Iām sure there are a lot of PlayStation players that would pick up boundless. And we have only once had a sale on PlayStation around 2 years ago at Christmas. But there have been many sales on pc. Iāve heard of people getting it on pc for as low as $2. Which is crazy.
Also I wouldnāt be against cosmetics that could locked to real money provided they were really cool. (Ie. demon wing, shoulder armour, skins for tools and weapons, something other then the diaper/bra,body paintsā¦etc.) but also at price point where most people could afford. $2-10 ish. And then regularly add more monthly or bi-monthly similar to games like Fortnite and warframe.
Having another level above deluxe edition of the game would be cool as well. With letās say the ability to craft a gem fist and possibly an additional 10% plots over deluxe edition. Iām sure everyone still playing would purchase something like that. I know I would.
When it comes to buying cubits. I feel it wasnāt ever enticing enough FOR ME to buy. I think I once did and just thought it wasnāt worth the money for the amount of cubits I got. But I know a lot of other people that purchased a lot of cubits for plots so this is more of a personal thing.
But either way. These are just a few things I think would be cool.
#2 Boundless has a universe that (as far as I know) is almost limitless in the amount of planets that can be in the sky. Minecraft simply has a world, a little more if you count the End and Nether as worlds.
#3 Boundless has a better crafting system imo (only including base MC here). Boundless actually runs much better and smoother than the Java-based MC.
#4 Hunts - Minecraft just doesnāt have exciting combat, not that Boundless has much better, but watching my first meteor drop was pretty damn awesome.
We can do the positives and negatives listā¦ but they both have positives and negatives. I much prefer Boundless over MC personally and that is a pretty hefty claim coming from me.
I never really watched many Minecraft streamers on Twitch, but I have lately and really itās not too exciting. I may be a little jaded having played MC for years and running several servers. I do agree that Boundless provides for a much better stream experienceā¦ but modded MC is a pretty tough monster to top as it is pretty much unlimited.
EDIT: Forgot #5 I actually donāt have to tell people āonce you get past the 8-bit graphics, itās a great game.ā
Exactly Minecraft is a tough monster and beating it definitely wonāt happen but play some of the same cards and you might be able to pull some of that fan base over to boundless
Note I said Modded MCā¦ because playing a modpack with over 400-500+ mods isnāt something a single game can easily compete with. An equal comparison is Vanilla MCā¦which for me Boundless exceeds.
