Put the game on sale to bring in new players

As MC can’t compete with Boundless on a number or levels.

Which is why I play boundless. But I’m definitely going to advocate for the creation of something similar to redstone in this game then it still won’t be perfect but would be pretty cool.

Totally agree. I would love for things like:

  • Electricity
  • Automation
  • Transfer Pipes that allows for items to be move from place to place
  • A way to possibly have smaller compact storage areas without sacrificing the ability to have large ones if you wanted. Applied Energistics mod in MC was a good example of that.
  • Power generation other than oort like mods like Mekanism and Thermal Dynamics had. Using liquids or solid fuels.

I personally am not sure all or anything like any of these items will ever get implemented, but for a game James has said is “more tech than magic” you would at least think some these ideas would have happened.

#1 agree. Minecraft, even with multiple people, has no real sense of an economy. You can buy and sell from npc’s, but you can’t with other players.
#2 While a minecraft server is bigger than any of the existing worlds in Boundless, Boundless has more variety in colors and biomes.
#3 Most of Boundless is dependent upon the server to run a lot of the processes. Minecraft uses your computer resources and on slower machines, it a massive slowdown.
#4 Meteor Hunts. Enough said.

Exactly I’m hoping it was just a budget issue and that’s why they took the easy way out but we will see since the new team said they have pretty deep pockets

Boundless shouldn’t attempt to compete with MC. Instead, Boundless should be attempting to forge its own identity as a game with MMORPG elements rather than try to be another builders game. There are tons of ideas and content that hasn’t been released yet that was focused towards this. Alot of players left because those content were never released.

No need to compete in a red ocean when you can create your own blue ocean strategy.

If I want to build, I can just go to Minecraft.

Minecraft haves bosses, Boundless doesn’t, If a creeper threatening to blow up your redstone dosen’t cause “excitement” in some way or another then I am not sure what will.

Meteor hunts in my opinion get more and more dull and boring the more you do them. It is the same thing over and over again. I can’t remember when was the last time I witnessed a full wipe on a Meteor.
All of this can be fixed thou.

I am going to be honest, I started getting bored after the 10th one or so. There just isn’t any variation or more importantly, decent risk of failure. I can stand AFK near one if I like, and odds are, i won’t even die and the outcome is the same.

If they are as dumb and simple and crude as the current mobs, then yes, but if they make the titan a complex mob with a modest amount of difficultly, then maybe not.

Agreed.

While I want to agree, I would be willing to bet many others disagree with you. I would be willing to bet there are a great many builders in Boundless that prefer to build in Boundless. I mean it is more than obvious with all the great builds in the game.

Again I agree. But… swords and shields and titans I can’t say would greatly increase player retention, but it would extend it some.

Yup agree after a few 100 or so they get boring as do creepers, ender dragons, etc. Adding Titans will also get boring … sadly.

So are we all settled then are we all quitting this game……… lol joking

Yet collecting 360 of an item, to process, and spend 4 hours to make teaching pies then having to expand or build a base gets boring as well.

Anyone else never get bored in chasing road runners on ice? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yea that’s the real fun

I oddly haven’t gotten bored building my color storage… but I’ve been on that mission for like 6 months lol

That’s just a massive undertaking I could never so I just get rid of all my colors I dnt use

I agree. I’m just saying that if you actually want to attract a large playerbase and make money so you can feed the devs, then you can’t just compete as a “builders” game. Gamers will always want what they think is best for them and their gaming preferences. But it doesn’t always mean it’s best for the game or the company developing it. That’s all.

Devs could spend the next 3 years iterating and releasing more building content and they still wouldn’t compete with Minecraft given that MC is also iterating on existing content. I like to think that’s stating the obvious

I am one of those that aren’t here for building. I am here for crafting, different worlds, portals, merchant abilities, meteors, the hope of Titans/temples/something… :crossed_fingers:

I can say that Boundless did ruin MC for me. I like that MC has mobs triggered by the day/night cycle, NPCs, underground railroads, I can create doors & stuff w redstone, axolotl, etc…but I can’t play it for more than 5 minutes without thinking about Boundless.

I’m actually quite perplexed on exactly why Boundless can’t compete MC personally.

I think @monty1 probably has some ideas around that. While MC does update quite often it hasn’t really expanded a whole lot in regards to its actual building. I would venture to say (once again speaking about Vanilla MC) Boundless has a much better building system and looks much better.

I have said it many times, that Boundless is trying to be a game-of-many-genres. The devs, at least in the current incarnation of the game, seemed to lean more towards the creative builder MMO than an MMORPG and it never states itself as being an MMORPG even though there are some elements of that.

I think guilds, hunt groups, shops, the huge crafting system, grinding supplies & plots, recipes, MMO, etc all lend more towards an MMORPG (even thought that’s not what Boundless is marketed as).

I’d assume that’s one of the reasons there’s always friction around gating colors, excessive crafting times, and plot/build restrictions. For a Sandbox building game, those things should be minimal or not exist.

Yeah that’s one thing that would be an amazing addition. If even lower tier planets creatures would be aggravated at night. Wildstocks included. And just more mobs in general at night.

Agreed @majorvex kind of why I always mentioned the Boundless Identity Crisis.

We need a BIC Hotline.
