PVP idea - who would be interested?

Maybe try a 12 hour contest to start and get people excited?

I think 24 hrs would be the shortest I should do unless lets say everyone taking part is in the US and Canada.

If only the world was flat and we were all in the same time zone.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

In Boundless the whole UNIVERSE is flat!

Does the set of tools include a loot stick with glow on it? I’d be very interested assuming I can dig up enough stuff to sell to get me back up to 250k coin lol.

My activity in game  as Real-life takes most of my time, the tiny bit of the rest of the time I’m not motivated either to play at the moment.

Yeah I’d most likely put glow on the loot sticks. And I’m most likely not going to do the 250000 buy in. Just in case that’s what’s stopping people from joining as a lot of people don’t have coin. But you will not get all the items right ant the beginning. You have to get to certain prestige points to unlock more items.

Kordaff is ready either way, maybe his 250k could go for an extra aoe hammer for all + leftover into the prize pool.

Awesome I’ll add you to the contestants list.
Thank you. :raised_hands::raised_hands:

Here’s and example of one of the prestige plots that will be randomly around for people to absorb there prestige.

I want to make a bunch of different stuff like small temples and ancient pillars and things as well. Hopefully tonight I’ll get a good 20-30 of these built around the portal area and beyond.

I don’t mind streaming during the competition! :slightly_smiling_face:

Fantastic. :raised_hands::raised_hands::raised_hands: I will stream when I can as well. Especially during some of the events.

Speed building isn’t my thing and I know better than to jump into certain defeat… but I love this idea and look forward to watching streams and the whatnots. I hope it gets feisty with ish talk and commentary not generally accepted within the game :smirk: :smiling_imp:

I have not read all the replies, so forgive me if I get it all wrong. I think your idea is wonderful… my only concern is cheating and how to control it. If the dev’s could do ANYTHING, it would be to add the simple (in my not knowing anything mind) code to make it so you cannot bring anything with you…

My brother is a dev for a AAA title game… I’m going to ask him why we can’t do this. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of asking him before. :four_leaf_clover:

Whilet I do quite like this idea, the biggest issue I can think of is cheating - whats to stop one character giving storage prems to another so they can drop off a bunch of materials? Or as was said before, simply going off-planet when georgeroeg is offline?

I envision one solution being a bot account thats friends with all the participants that can monitor their planet status and flag participants that go off-planet, but i’m not sure how that would work and if it would be enough.

I do like the concept however, and with you all the best.

have them meet 1 by 1 before the portal to the planet, have them fix friend setup with a few event-monitors … etc that can check the friends list now n then, if not on the correct planet… well… screenshot and done deal. also when they do stand there in front of the portal with you present, and you control the space / room of who is in there… get them to screenshot their inventory and submit the full screenshot to you (ofc if they stream… even better…), the visual validation of what currently is present there by you should suffice to ensure the char is ā€œcleanā€.

Woah is that bot thing possible? That would be awesome.
But in reality there’s a few ways to cheat. But the only people that will be allowed on the planet are the contestants and me and a helper for the events. So they can give whoever they like access to there storage and it won’t matter. I think one thing that will help. Is everyone friending me and each other.
Then people can rat on each other. The one thing that you cant get around is if people have an active reclaim as well. They could theoretically take things out of there. I guess there’s going to have to be some kind honour amongst thieves kinda thing. Anyone willing to take part are doing it because they see the fun in doing something different in boundless and not necessarily the coin at the end. I hope.

If they were willing to to stream, then yes that would definitely be the proof that is needed to show they are going in with an empty inventory and no coin.
I was thinking a photo of there inventory and a time and date written on a piece of paper with a password I’d make up right before the start of the event.

I thought about a screening room before going to the planet where everyone friends each other and me and a couple other people. I think friending each other would be good for trying to kill each while they are on the planet as well. Because all the contestants can grapple each other.

I didn’t get too much done last night on the planet. But I did add a couple more prestige plots.

If it’s not a new character what’s to stop them from reclaiming a beacon full of goodies they can hide in their builds to make more prestige?

Everyone is concerned about cheating.
Ask yourself this.
If you enter this are you going to want to try and cheat?

If someone’s prestige jumps up massively that’s going to sound some alarms as well.
Also all blocks will be the colour of the planet. Which I may change right before the event so people can gather mats and reclaim them. But they have no clue what colours I’m going to pick.

Could have a reclaim in progress on some non-competition world… Mine on Biitula has a bit over 1.4 million blocks to move out (minus some cool taupe and white stone i moved out today) 125k just in dark grey rock.

Perhaps I have to have permissions on everyone’s beacons as well. If something seems off. I can dig into someone’s build and look for blocks that shouldn’t be there. If everything is fine I replace the blocks. And nothing happens. If there is a problem they are booted.

Does that seem like a reasonable solution?
