PVP -prestige needs perks- Ideas

If it’s specific beacons there’s a good chance it will make people stop exploring planets or visiting places.

I know I’d stop exploring if I had to worry about beacons having pvp.

100% not, just don’t go in a PvP beacon. Same way you’d avoid someone’s beacon who has lava all over the place

If there’s not a highly visual cue that if you step on a beacon you’ll enter pvp 100% yes it would.

Also you’ll have to worry about people baiting you into pvp beacons either with slides or maybe even shop stands

So many ways it could lead to problems. A lot of stuff would have to be done to get it just right. Lot of coding. Time better spent on getting titans and other promised things into the game

Why did you assume there wouldn’t be some visual cue?

As for the baits into pvp areas, that’s quite a funny thing, and not something that someone’s gonna fall for twice - when you fall into lava when mining or fall to your death building, it’s inconvenient but you swiftly get over it. At least if you’re baited into PvP with a slide there is some humour you can take away from it.

Again why are you assuming this would be implemented before titans/already promised features?

I understand you don’t like PvP, but moulding the worst case scenario and telling it like it’s the only option the devs will take a PvP feature, isn’t very productive.

PvP would, in my opinion, bring more players in and open up a wide door for ‘boundless’ creativity, especially if it’s implemented in a beaconed system (mini games, competitions etc). Hide and seek? Yes please. Hunger Games? Yes please. Guild vs guild fights to settle disagreements? Ye… you catch my drift?

Faeming would of been rubbish, if it wasn’t implemented correctly. Titans will be awful! If not implemented properly. And with the devs of this game, I can only assume that if PvP was implemented, it would be done so properly/fairly.

Don’t have a clue what the devs will do. But I have plenty ideas of how people will abuse it in any way they can because it’s already done with the mechanics we have now.

And really no idea if people would come because of pvp or leave because of it. Pvp isn’t even a thing I would think of in a mmo building voxel game. I have hundreds of other games that have pvp and ones specifically designed for it. Heck there’s even a pvp building voxel game. Can’t remember the name of it. But you build your base before the match starts. Also it’s not that I don’t like pvp as I play pvp games. It’s I’d want no part of it in this game. If I’m going to have to worry about getting baited into an area at any point I’ll just stick to my beacons only. As it is I have enough oort to open portals to all of my places so I’d have no need to explore outside of them.

I’m not a fan of PVP but I’d love it as a beacon option, if it’s something you opt into. Have a pop-up warning that you react to, so you can safely enter a beacon without worrying about being killed by another player if you don’t want that.

Yup all those things are needed… way after all the other things on our lists are implemented and we have a game that doesn’t need some of these things.

So more city management tool including eviction? So someone “higher up” can pitch a fit and just bomb everything “cough cough” and everyone else has to deal with it because 1 hair across 1 ass?

Yes we should have pvp it would make certain things more fun, but should be pvp planets so if people decide not to they don’t have to. Just like pvp in ark or citadel. You choose the kind of server you want to be on pvp or pve

Why on Earth would people leave Boundless due to optional pvp? I don’t enjoy hunting, I don’t leave the game because people are killing spitters (even though I am an advocate for spilt spitter blood)

Pretty sure Boundless is a Sandbox MMO, not just a building MMO.

Yeh people abuse what they can, you can’t control that other than have the devs fix it. Whatever is added to a game, players take advantage of it - why add anything to Boundless then if you’re worried people are gonna try to abuse it?

And the goal, surely, is to have a game that satisfys multiple areas. Especially in a Sandbox MMO. Other wise I’d be playing Minecraft + No Man’s Sky and Shop Simulator Tycoon right now, or I can get all these thirsts quenches with Boundless?

You do realize people left because of farming right

And? 10 chars

Again people left because of optional farming. And farming didn’t really bring too many new people to the game

Lol if people left because of farming then they were planning on leaving anyway. No way farming made people mad enough to quit single handedly

How would you know this?

Most likely due to the fact that people here are a bit touchy about conflict in this game, based on things I have seen that i will not repeat so I do not insult anyone.

Therefore I assume people are just down right terrified at the type of new people PvP may or may not attract to the game who may or may not be extremely toxic.

Looking at the average players over 30 day spans or even just looking at current player. Same way people have been tracking the player count since about day one of live release.

Can no longer make flour and other ingredients from grass like we could. You now need to farm if selling pies. 1 planet with exotic yams and sparse exos with yams for month or two and people plotting the one planet. I’ve notice less players sense lighting update and even less sense farming update from personal (my opinion) running around worlds

Player count doesn’t tell you the reason people left and it doesn’t take into consideration people leaving and others joining at the same time. So theoretically everyone could have left for to farming and the same number could have joined because of it.

@Trundamere Yeh that’s true that people think that, well there’s already toxicity around and no PvP. So might as well have the PvP :upside_down_face:

With pvp beacons if one person owns the roads in a city they could turn pvp on and try to make it unsafe for you to leave your beacon in the town. Forced evictions?

Would you rather make flour from grass than seeing it a simple farm? You also need to account for natural decay of a game that isn’t currently advertising and doesn’t have features that are in it’s trailers. My point is, we (the customers) don’t know the statistics so can’t jump to conclusions why things we can’t see, are happening.

Edit: 3am typos

I’ve quit many a game due to the PVP in them, or PVP added later, or PVP turning into the main focus of the game, and especially PVP locking good gear/crafting mats/content behind it.

A Special PVP Planet that use already existing colors from permanent planets woudl be OK as its specially designed, but I would frown upon special rewards/materials for doing PVP.
