I voted for the nerf because I like the idea of exploring changes to the way regen farming is currently but maybe not necessarily such a drastic nerf. What about a single use item for regen? A more expensive area of effect aura version of a campfire that greatly sped up regen within its radius but only lasted a minute or two maybe. It’d make afk farming a bit harder to do for very long
I think you would lose a lot more people by nerfing regen bombs, than the game will lose by people being run outa town by bots.
Bots may flood the market with an item and drive prices down, but thats good for consumers. It may hurt the shopkeepers competing with the same item, but if making coin is the shopkeepers goal, they will find another item to sell, one that earns coin relative to how they value their time.
and this.
People want to be able to pley how they want, with less walls in their way. Bots will provide more materials in the market for people to play with.
It depends on what they are doing. If they are gleam farming then they are simply smashing forged hammers while eating pies and brews and then feeding the results into the minter for coin so they are in fact doing the complete opposite and simply causing inflation and shortage of crafting materials.
If they are doing it solely for minting, then I would assume they are spending that coin somewhere. Which is putting more coin in circulation. I don’t think there is enough bots at the moment to cause, or worry about, any inflation.
I personally am purchasing 8ss of each exo gleam that pops. If my supplier uses a bot, I could care less.
Hmm, but if you slow down the regen effect. How would anyone get enough gleam for their builds?
I only farm exo gleam, so I would never mint it
I think that will change the problem and make it worse for everyone else. When I have to clear a gleam spot then go to the next to collect it (In case nobody did so before me) to then wander on it will take forever to collect the materials I want to build with.
With such an mechanic and keeping worlds the same I may actually consider quitting the game as the chore gets too much for my taste then.
What goes along with my point is also how regen spamming is not gameplay. Not a diss on the game at all, but I don’t think anyone is rushing home to log on for a good session of regen spamming afk or semi afk whilst watching netflix.
If there was a more fun and interacting way to get resources which also prevent people from botting, then the game would in fact ‘do better’ and people would enjoy going out gathering block/resources rather than trading in time for items
I like regen bombs the way they are but if people are botting it maybe it needs looked at. unfortunately its impossible to tell unless you stand in front of them or pull them with a grapple like you said which could also be seen as harassment/abuse unless it was a dev of course but to answer your question yes a simple macro can be set up by any noob with the right equipment, you don’t even need a script as some let you record presses. as for the minter, we should get rid of it, it has no place in this game, it was never meant to dictate prices only as a last resort
I should clarify this, my computer room is setup with a TV on the wall right above / behind my computer monitor so my eyes are on Boundless while regen farming. Just misc stuff playing on the TV in the background to keep me from going crazy.
I also don’t spam regen farm exo stuff to sell, only do it for gleam or stones (or other materials) I wan’t or I know friends want.
I can agree with this, but “Hoarding” is also something that brings joy to some people. I would bet the botters do think “Im gonna bot farm that new gleam soon as I get home… im going for 100 ss this time!”
Unless you’re building Giza from purely gleam I don’t think people will struggle. There are lots of areas to get gleam, you’d simply go from one to the other to the other to the other, then by the time you’ve done a little trip, bumped into some spitters, taken a couple screenshots of a cool natural waterfall you woulnd’t of seen if you were just standing in one spot, the first spot you hit, would be back again
Slow down regeneration doesn’t mean stop it or make it take 3 hours instead of 4, it just means not instant
My point exactly.
I do hope you’re right. But they can generate around 100,000 coins an hour while smashing countless sweet beans, hopper cores, adrenal glands, etc and they can do this 24 hours a day if they choose to, that’s more money than I can ever hope to make forging.
And I totally get what you’re saying, I do agree. It would need to be done in such a way that it wouldn’t actually make gathering what you need a bigger chore than it already is, and hopefully actually make it a more enjoyable/rewarding experience.
to be fair though it doesn’t matter how long you make the timer they can still set it up for it, best going for slightly more random times if possible
Well so take the shadow yellow gleam. I farmed probably 12 full inventories for people. That would be impossible to do in what you are suggesting. And that was just for glass usage
That’s probably true, but then I’d argue that the enjoyment of the many overrides the enjoyment of the few. And it would actually add some effort to hoarding, right now hoarding just means you were logged on for long enough to get something
I would love a thread where people listed specifically what they spend their time doing in Boundless, just to see whats the most/least popular - but I’ll let someone else instigate that one
You’re right they can still bot it, but it would make ‘not botting’ it the more efficient, therefore they probably wouldn’t waste their time botting
I hate to tell you @Ovis I am definitely one of these people, haha
Me too mate!
And I’ll encourage hoarding till the very end, I wouldn’t want to limit that. Just want to stop botters and in the process make the game more enjoyable, because if i’ve learnt one thing from this thread, its that people ain’t focusing on Boundless when they’re playing Boundless (when farming materials, there are lots of other engaging parts to the game ofc)
Would it be such a bad thing if it was impossible?
People asked for so much because it was possible. If not then they would ask for less, whatever realistic number would be.
From your point of view as a seller, you would get more coins per.
