Without inflation happening, I don’t see how botting is hurting the game. They may not be enjoying the game as intended, but they are playing boundless, not another game, so they are enjoying something.

I’m kind of confused here @Ovis. How do you want us to collect our resources? What are the time frames you are looking at? How much slower do you think it will be? Do you wish to add in mini-games to “enhance” the process? What do you think can be done to make the hours of gathering materials to a single hour of building more enjoyable? All serious questions.
Edit: And as a side, I’m not looking at the botting aspect because if they ban them I won’t even notice a difference. Cheaters should be temp banned, then permabanned. I’m just caring about the effect it has on my favorite past time of building.

True. It wouldn’t be the worst thing. But rare gleam is already hard to get. I guess if we could dye gleam then it would be a trade off
Maybe we don’t know how its effecting inflation because we haven’t had it without. If botting wasn’t available, then the amount of things floating around would be less then the price would be different

100% the same for me.
Noticed that the hoarding gets stronger the longer I play Boundless.
Also totally guilty of reducing the game to 2 buttons that need to be pressed in a certain pattern when farming.
Stopping botters would be awesome. Sadly it is hard as they have high endurance and inefficient still may get them to their goal

How do we make it fun without limiting the rate of gathering?
Fun for one person does not always equal fun for another though.

The same way but actually enjoying the process. No idea, not a game dev. The mini-games would be the general feel of exploring and the things that come along with that. Take gleam, if it was slower regen, but a bigger ‘blob’ of it, then you’d collect the same amount p/hour but the only difference would be the pointlessness of a cost to that item as less would be collected by afkers.
I’m not sure they can be banned, unless the devs create a program a line of wizard code magic text (no idea how coding works) that could detect botters, which I don’ think they have in place.
If the price of something is so low due to over supply, then there is no point to having it in a recipe. It become just another drag you have to from your inventory to the machine.
I didn’t read all the posts so I’m not sure if it was said already. But the devs have stated botting is banable unless needed for handicap reasons

Totally agree, but they aren’t mutually exclusive. If I have fun, doesn’t mean someone else cannot. Its about achieving what is fun for the most amount of people is it not?
Botter: I have a handicap and need to use this auto clicker.

This is true too. This is a hard subject to pinpoint really.
Not that it is the same thing, but my providing completed atlases of Exos ruins the fun of exploring, and being able to trade location tokens keeps people from seeing things they might see if they actually had to find the stuff themselves.
But… for me exploring is the best part, so thats why I do it, and for others gathering tons of the same mats is the fun part so they would prefer an atlas so that they can see where resources are without having to explore the whole planet… or a location token to get to the stuff they really want without the hassle of finding it.
With all of that being said, I am 100% against any sort of unattended gameplay where the computer is doing everything and the player doesn’t even have to be at the keyboard, but if someone enjoys mashing mouse buttons thousands of times at the same spot to collect a resource, then good on them and I am ok with that.
