Cave mining is not viable compared to bomb mining. How many caves have you found on Serp, and how many of the caves on Alcyon yield as much resources as just 6m bombing all of Serp mountains of solid rock?
Well it will definitely have an impact on saltpeter prices and probably also persistent foods.
Especially with the increased regeneration of resources.
Well but shimmering orbs will go up again.
Lots, they are attached to giant holes in the surface of the planet all over the place!
Only one on Serp but honestly have not spent much time on the planet other than to get gleam. Alcyon though has some cool caves, also large areas you can spiderman around in. The gem buff should help with finding gems lower in those open lava/spire areas.
Iāve blown up countless mountains with bomb mining since August when the game launched, there arenāt enough caves to even begin to make cave mining even remotely viable.
Perhaps. It may end up being moot though with the fix to regen, if all the gems etc are regening at a comfortable pace then it really wouldnāt make much of a difference if one method is better than the other with resources being infinite and all
Great update ā¦ All we need now is an atlas that isnāt always out of date
yay finally great stuff
lol yeah, main reason i never got around to updating itā¦ not enough time to keep it up-to-date every time they change something o.o
I found 2 last night bomb mining on serp. Too afraid to explore them tho cuz all i could hear were cuttletrunk shrieks shivers (0 survivability on my miner currently)
I mean you are narrowing ācave miningā to a very specific planet and area in which you have not met success.
Well cave mining is getting a buff with this patch. Youāre literally dismissing the changes before you even see what the change is.
Finally, bomb mining is super niche, while hammer mining is completely flexible. If Iām set to bomb mine a T5 world, I canāt take those skills to mine on a T4 or T6. I can only mine T5.
Hammers can mine anything, anywhere. That flexibility is worth something.
Saying a drag race car is the best race car because itās faster over a quarter mile than an F1 car doesnāt seem to be a fully developed argument to me.
keep in mind that bombs are for more than just mining and making holesā¦ they are also the only option for healers atmā¦ so hopefully this will make them more common
This might legitimately be the most excited Iāve ever been for a patch, and most of it is just improvements without new features.
You guys are doing such a great job. Thank you, developers, for always listening to the community and doing the very best for your game. We love you. <3
thatās not true at all. According to the calculator, 4 titanium bombs is viable for tier 6, and 3 is viable for tier 5.
Facts. Imagine a hammer build that is effective on a T5 planet with no consequence of destroying the rocks on a lower tier planet. You could blow through those areas easily, possibly taking away resources from newer people who cant go to T5 planets yet. Im sure balancing the two is a lot more complicated than we think.
have you ever been to Alcyon? thereās more cave than rock
Good point, tbh I had completely forgotten healing bombs were even a thing.
Many of the caves on Alycon Iāve found are short, and riddled with lava, which is why I see most players still opt to just 6m bomb their way through Serp for efficiency. Itās safer, and quicker.
After all, thatās what matters most to most people, how to get ore and gems fastest.
edit
If 10 hours of 6m bombing Alycon yields more resources than 10 hours of Serp bombing, Iāll stand corrected.
But my point was even in the case of Alycon, the caves are rarely worth it time-wise.
Honestly, with a living, constantly growing and changing MMO without EXTENSIVE testing before putting it to live servers, there isnāt much that can be done about this. Especially because the game is so complex with so many moving parts, exploits will always be around, and they will always affect the market. The developers will constantly be working to keep this to a minimum, however.
