Hey guys,
A player driven economy takes a while to sort itself out, just like if we were making a brand new economy in the real world - there’ll be weird prices, strange buying habits etc, but it will work more effectively as time goes on. We’ll of course be keeping an eye on things and if there’s anything we feel we need to do to help the economy, we’ll do it.
In terms of your shops, (this is coming from someone who tends to buy and sell quite a lot, but certainly no “expert”), here’s a couple of thing I look for:
Easy to find
If it’s connected to the main portal hubs and has an enticing/informative sign on the portal, chances are I’ll go take a look. If someone advertises their shop on the forums or Discord as well, I’m even more likely to go.
Aesthetics
Might sound weird, but I’m automatically attracted to shops that look cool, or simply just have the word “SHOP” above it. I’ve wondered around the cities and gone into building I thought might be shops and saw they weren’t; so now I’m far more likely to start at places that actually state obviously they are shops.
Prices
Make sure you’re visiting shops regularly to check on other peoples prices. I’ve seen some shops selling iron hammers for 500c, and some at 175c. I always go to multiple shops to find the best prices, and that goes for request baskets as well - if you offer me 2c for rocks when someone else is offering 1c, I’ll go for your basket.
Items
Keep an eye on the forums and Discord to see what people are trying to find the most. If you can get a ton of Saltpetre for example, sell it for a reasonable price, and advertise it… you’ll find a lot of people visit your shop and you’ll end up selling more of your other items too.
Like I said, I’m no expert - there are players here who have tons more hours and experience than I do. But as someone who buys and sells to request baskets a lot, I figured my thought process behind everything might help.
