Selling items and Crafting

What actually sells when you play as a crafter ?

I see lots of raw materials that sells, but seemingly it seems or feels like that everyone got an alt for crafting, and then a hunter and a gathere to actually be self sufficient in one way or another.

I could see epic crafting skills items selling, like gem tools, weapons etc. but anything below that doesnt seem to sell at all - or is that just me D: ?

Supply has always been very random.
And unless youre a full dedicated trader, you can’t get enough coins to sustain basics need trough market.

Imo
That’s why people train alt characters for middle range products, and buy only tedious/boring stuff like huge quantites of raw materials or hard to produce tools.

I noticed that actually getting people to sell you things through request baskets, is extremely difficult as well.

I don’t know, just seems somewhat harder than it needs to be, atleast if it comes to selling items that you are crafting, as noone actually goes to buy any of it since they are making it themselves.

For a game that has a player run economy, it does seem hard to get up and running proper  - and is an aspect im quite excited about when it comes to boundless.

I think one reason is that supply is way to spotty so you can’t really find what you are trying to trade for. And prices are all over the place as a sideeffect. I guess there really isn’t a stable economy yet. Tried to go find some power coils for sale a couple of days ago but there didn’t seem to be anyone selling them at all so I figured I’d have to craft them so than I went looking for gems which turned out to be sold out. In the end I just went mining myself since I didn’t really have any options.

Well some good thing to have on shop are tools (especially hammers) also i would recommend to expand on different door styles. I bet that could be one good seller who does not want to put points for decoration. Also other thing is tech crafting. Spanners… chisels … again many people dont wanna put points there either.

Ive been having hammers in my store for like, what… 5 days, not a single one has been sold… Iron and Silver - I know silver prob wouldnt seel as well as iron, since most would prob just go straight for titanium, but the lower price I thought that myabe people would opt in on buying silver - but nope - nothing so far.

Doors might be a good idea, I do have maxed out decoration skills, so that could be a thing, though I want to specialise into tools in general.

Spanners is a good idea as well, will try that.

I also maxed out my centraforge skills - but noone is actually selling any of the materials required to actually do it, so thats highly problematic as well.

Think the problem for us at the minute zoin is our location is still unknown. once more people join and start looking around they will find us, just need to make sure out stock is regular :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey guys,

A player driven economy takes a while to sort itself out, just like if we were making a brand new economy in the real world - there’ll be weird prices, strange buying habits etc, but it will work more effectively as time goes on. We’ll of course be keeping an eye on things and if there’s anything we feel we need to do to help the economy, we’ll do it.

In terms of your shops, (this is coming from someone who tends to buy and sell quite a lot, but certainly no “expert”), here’s a couple of thing I look for:

Easy to find
If it’s connected to the main portal hubs and has an enticing/informative sign on the portal, chances are I’ll go take a look. If someone advertises their shop on the forums or Discord as well, I’m even more likely to go.

Aesthetics
Might sound weird, but I’m automatically attracted to shops that look cool, or simply just have the word “SHOP” above it. I’ve wondered around the cities and gone into building I thought might be shops and saw they weren’t; so now I’m far more likely to start at places that actually state obviously they are shops.

Prices
Make sure you’re visiting shops regularly to check on other peoples prices. I’ve seen some shops selling iron hammers for 500c, and some at 175c. I always go to multiple shops to find the best prices, and that goes for request baskets as well - if you offer me 2c for rocks when someone else is offering 1c, I’ll go for your basket.

Items
Keep an eye on the forums and Discord to see what people are trying to find the most. If you can get a ton of Saltpetre for example, sell it for a reasonable price, and advertise it… you’ll find a lot of people visit your shop and you’ll end up selling more of your other items too.

Like I said, I’m no expert - there are players here who have tons more hours and experience than I do. But as someone who buys and sells to request baskets a lot, I figured my thought process behind everything might help.

Actually the whole request basket thing - I found that I don’t actually see people selling to me at all, and I try to put my prices above others when it comes to that, atleast from what I can find myself.

Maybe I’ve just been unlucky on that front.

Advertise your place in discord!

It has a lot to do with visibility and marketing!

I buy tons of stuff and lots does get sold to me in Anvil, most of the shops in town do well because we are in the Capitol of our world and prices are reasonable. I also advertise often in discord (maybe I should expand to here as well…) which seems to help.

Speaking of which… I have power coils for sale in Anvil, Seginiakai. Find my shop (metal floor) via Grovidias Te portal hub, the player portals on Seginiakai or via Ultima Aqua Hub.

We have player portal spaces available if you want to directly connect to us to save $ in transport

Yeah does sound like I need to do some more advertising I think.

I’ve sold ~60 iron hammers in the past 3 days - so definitely a marketing issue  I also have a very hard time keeping enough coin in my request baskets. Building a reputation for being a shop where people want to stop regularly is really important - you have to prove your reliability.

Guess I need to get more out there, thanks man.

Check the Lamblis hub(Purple Building). I saw some stuff there today. Coils and such.
They’re a bit pricey though.

Zoin…

This is a topic I consider myself to be an expert in…
(Sparta) - is my shop…

And to answer your question everything will sell… IF you price it correctly…
EVERYTHING…
Even something you believe to be useless will sell…

Because ultimately nothing in this game is useless…
Put up a big chunk of gravel for 1c and hunters will buy it to make towers…

Put up Dirt and it will be bought to become Brick or Glass or Fuel

Nothing in the game is useless…And again it will always, always, always boil down to your price…
To cheep and you will get bought out bye another shop who will profit on your lack of knowledge…
To expensive and it will sit on your shelves and not move…

But get it just right and well thats the trick figuring out what the true market value of anything is…
And you can always just go to other shops to figure it out if you don’t know…
Go to Omni’s or Sparta and look around and you will see pricing that’s pretty indicative of the market…

I started to do some advertising, its not much at the moment though but you can find location and what I sell on my shop here: https://forum.playboundless.com/t/tree-of-dreams-shop/15530

@Sulfurblade
Thanks man - As such I think my prices are fair and relatively cheap, though tbh, its not a bad idea selling some of that useless stuff - thanks for the heads up

So I am at your shop and its definately your prices…

Iron Hammers should sell for 100 - 150 Your price is very high for Iron Hammers…
Silver Hammers are going between 250-500 And 500 is really high and your price is beyond that…

Not to mention silver is terrible for tools except perhaps the axe because of the speed increase for logging on home worlds…

The Decorative wood is really out there… should be selling between 5 - 25

Your refinery price is also very expensive… that should be in the neighborhood of 100 - 200

And I am trying to give your broad ranges based on the majority of shops… and your stuff is not falling in the price ranges…

Thanks - I have honostly been around looking, not been able to find everything though so I just had to put some prices out there atleast.

Sounds like I need to go another round to check up on prices.

Will go adjust accordingly.
