Snowball Meteors ReBalance

What is everyone’s thoughts around the Snowball Meteors being over powered and massively short on rewards when you are a solo person? I’m looking for feedback from different tiers to help provide data for a rebalance consideration.

I’ve been doing some solo work on a mid-tier 36 level hunter. It seems to take forever to work through a level 2 series meteor with Elite mobs and snowballs that do limited damage. 10 minutes assuming you survive and you get 2 red candy canes? I had a level 3 at one point and it took me what must have been thirty minutes to finally get all the waves down.

I think many of these events we have need to be massively balanced better for the time it takes to do anything considering the small reward you get, cost of materials to make the special items, and the risk we see people having to not get the colors they want.

Events are supposed to be for casual and solo people and not only groups and high tiered people. I can see why some of the events really do leave people with a bad taste in their mouth after this experience.

from my experience? tried 4 meteors, died on them, got 5 red canes in total…
with 10 red canes need for single twinkles craft - really no thanks
i gave up

its not fun at all

Just posted about this is another topic. It feels very unrewarding. The event itself is fun until you realize how tanky these spitters are. Then complete a T5 meteor and get 1 candy cane? People are paying prices up to 600c for one candy cane right now lol.

Seasonal events in any game i’ve ever played are never this grindy.

I haven’t been terribly impressed with the candy cane reward either. You don’t get that many and it cost.so much to make just one thing. No wonder they are selling for so much

Either increase drops or change recipes, for sure. I hate, hate, HATE to complain as I love Boundless so much - really, but I had to say something on this one, like I did with Gleambow.

The real big issue I see here is the recipe on the Twinkle lights. 10 red canes for a single twinkle is far, far too much. The twinkles are absolutely gorgeous, and I strongly suspect from comments that is what people really want to create lots of - I know I do. That is a recipe we should be able to spam - one meteor complete should be enough for a mass craft, or better still, let us use green ones for that. I don’t see an issue with the green drop rate - those are really quite fun too, no frustration, anybody can go around picking off low level mobs! Also, think how beautiful it will be if our great builders here can make lots - so many uses for these!

I hunted for an hour. Dropped 2 meteors. (T2 + T3) Had to hit the spitters hundreds of times. I got hit ten. I got lots of green canse, but only 7 red ones. after an hour.

Its a littel faster when you dual wield snowballs and use mega fast brew but yes the rewards are much too low

I got 4 red from a T1 meteor which I finished rather quickly. I don’t think they need to be re-balanced at all. Can we just be satisfied for a hot second!? Let the devs enjoy their holiday?

Not everything needs to be 100% attainable for new players. The need for instant gratification is insane. If we dumb everything down for new players we take the challenge away for everyone else who has worked hard to level and grow.

Personally, I think they’re fine as they are. The rewards could always be increased given the amount you need for recipes.

Absolutely ridiculous currently.
The one meteor I did felt like it took an hour, to fight what seemed like 100 or more spitters with machine guns, most of whom were invisible because of the heavy snow.

No fun. I don’t have enough time or interest in being shot over and over to get required amounts for recipes.

This is a good point to mention as well. I could deal with the snow at times but then with the snow that sits on the protection walls isn’t laying correctly so it blocks your view. Starts to become very hard.

While I respect your view I think you are way off base until I would know the specs and tools of your character and actual how much time you took to get the data. Events are for EVERYONE and it needs to be that way. We can have “tiers” if they want but the beginners need to enjoy this or you just create an elitist high level game attitude that is filled with inbred ideas and players. Not good for anything.

I don’t know what the “right number” is but this is not balanced right with 1 or 2 canes for some harder meteors with max luck. A simple tweak does not fall into “instant gratification.”

Ouch, dude.

the holiday event and their rewards SHOULD be aatainable for new players, mostly just for them

every, literally every seasonal event in every mmo games i played last 15 years got their seasonal event addresed for new and casual players just to convince them to coming back to game next event and rewards are easy reachable to all of them regardless of their level and gear even if they need to grind them - they got more than enough after event ends

Nice event - unrewarding meteors for all the work you have to put.

I did want to clarify something from my other post to you at least in regards to the data.

So I did get more red canes from a T1 I just did versus the T2. It could be a balance issue between T1 and T2, etc. that is the root problem… I guess I will see after more data.

We’re just asking for a simple turn of the knob to up drop rate or at least guarantee more than 1 candy cane as a reward for high tier meteors. I think you’re onto something with T1 meteors being the best source. But once again we have an event that should be a community event turning into something that may be better off solo or in small groups. Time vs reward is important to successful games and atm this event isn’t very rewarding with the current drop rate/recipe cost.

Yes it is a strong opinion but I honestly have always been a staunch supporter of new people and casual players. I don’t appreciate people shooting down the new player experience just because they are a high player especially in something like an Event that is meant for all. I regards to other types of content or carebear type complaints from new people I am fine holding things in different regard. But, one thing I know about Boundless is it has a section of the community that is inbred in the views and not willing to look at things from a different side. I saw that clearly when I came in as a brand new player myself and we saw many people leave this game as new because some would hold the view I just criticized strongly. Creating a community like that can be bad for a game.
(additional note edit: I wasn’t calling anyone here an elitist or inbred. I’ve seen cases of those attitude but am not pointing to anyone)

I truly do hate complaining here… but like other posts said, events like this should be accessible to the newer and time-limited. It is not worth hurting the game by leaving those people feeling left out and coming away with a bad taste in their mouths. And it isn’t just them with this - no way I could farm the meteors I’d need for what I want. And paying 500c I’ve yet to have a single red cane sold to me.

I’m trying to keep it constructive and positive - but it isn’t a good thing for the game if a bunch of us are disgruntled about the balance and keep quiet. I really do think they want to know our thoughts on this stuff, from all their words and actions. Also, this is an easy fix I’d think, just changing balance, even if they can’t do it this time due to the holiday.

I really do feel if they change that Twinkle recipe, people will be VERY happy, I’m sure of this. Let us farm green canes to get those, and/or give us a greatly reduced red cane recipe.

Snowball Meteors Are A Blast, Like the gleambow I enjoyed both but some minor tweaks can increase everyone’s moral.
I don’t mind if they is 2 of us hunting or 20 of us hunting. Either way it’s still fun to compete in such meteors, although the outcome for the Candy can be a bit of a joke especially for the effort, I’d like to compare the candy to the Oort ratio per meteor. If it was equal the the amount you’d get off a normal meteor then I know nobody would have a problem with the outcome.
I’ve hosted 2 hour hunts and came out with 300+ Oort
I hosted a hunt during this event and in 2 hours I think we ended up on about 135-150 red candy
I know if it matched the ratio with Oort I’d be happy with the outcome

but, again, such seasonal event should be accesible and enjoyable for solo and casual players
they should be able to get same amount of rewards regardles of doing it solo or in group,
it should be idea of seasonal event - to bring fun and joy to every p[layers, not to limited ones who got time for hosting / timed group event

and one more thing - why spitters are able to 1 shot players and we need to use like 50 snowballs to kill them? it should be equal fight…

Glad you tried to clarify that because it sure seemed that way.

I agree with all your points on this topic, by the way. I suggest finding different terminology than the above to get your point across.
