So are we moving to discord?

Are the forums moving to discord?

wait, what gave you that impression?

Nobody ever said that. IPB is still the plan last we heard.

It was stated. As well as just deleting the forums completely since they are just a “courtesy”.

You are more likely to just be banned then to get a real answer though since Monumental closed the other topic. They are “done” discussing it and bringing it up again can be considered against the Code of Conduct.

I’d just wait and see what the move is at this point. Whenever a thread goes off the rails in a way that is against TOS, it will get closed. That hasn’t changed over the years.

What has changed is that Momumental’s new Code of Conduct makes it a bannable offence to try to continue any discussion in a public forum. They want to force everything to a private communication channel, which then is also another bannable offense if you share any of that discussion publicly.

It still feels like trying to suppress dissenting ideas rather than creating a positive environment to let people to discuss things.

:lock: Disagreements or Concerns:

If you disagree with a moderator’s or Monumental employee’s action, please refrain from discussing it publicly on the forums. Avoid creating new threads on the same topic. Instead, reach out to our support team via email. Clearly state your concerns and include your forum handle. Never share your password with anyone, even Monumental representatives.

:closed_lock_with_key: Respecting Privacy:

Respect the privacy of our team members and representatives. Don’t share any private communications you receive without Monumental’s permission. This includes direct messages, Support tickets, and emails.

:zipper_mouth_face:Our goal is to maintain a respectful and positive environment for everyone. Let’s address concerns in a constructive manner and ensure that private communications remain confidential.

The goal is to make a positive environment, but not one where you can give real feedback unless it is in agreement. I still have technically not agreed to the new Code of Conduct because of this. It is one thing to discuss disciplinary actions when the person has not given express consent but trying to suppress all feedback that and gaslighting that it is about trying to create a positive community rather than wanting to suppress any bad press or legal liability is not healthy for the community.

Regardless of “how it feels”,

I believe the goal is to create a more positive and respectful environment. By moving discussions about moderator actions and disagreements to private channels, the aim seems to be to handle these matters more efficiently and fairly. Sometimes, public discussions can escalate quickly and lead to misunderstandings, which isn’t good for anyone. The private channel approach allows for more focused and constructive conversations, ensuring that each concern is given the attention it deserves without the distraction of public scrutiny.

Respecting privacy is also really important. It protects both community members and anyone else involved from potential misuse or misrepresentation of private communications. This policy ensures that sensitive information is handled appropriately and that everyone feels secure in their interactions.

I know it can feel restrictive, but I think the intention is to create a safer and more positive environment for all of us. Monumental values our feedback and encourages us to voice our concerns through the proper channels. It is just a more structured approach to help maintain the integrity of our community while addressing issues constructively.

Just my two cents. I’d recommend staying on topic though, with that said, “Moving to Discord?”
I’d just wait and see what the move is at this point.

I just asked due to the general forum tab on the discord.

Thanks for citing exactly where this comes from. Interpret it how you like, but I dont interpret this as a statement of intent, but merely a statement of options and their considerations. They do not outright say this is the intent.

This may be my schizophrenia speaking, but I think monumental have something up their sleeve, and they are just getting everything in order before they drop some updates to get the game on the map again…

I guess the question then is, is it a map anyone is looking at?

I usually include people with my map metaphor, as in having enough population to be worthy of being marked on a map…

Well, to use your map metaphor, maps to buried treasure are often hidden or lost. Without an audience that cares or can even find the game, we are arguably right back where we started.

Metaphors aside, I’ve little reason to be optimistic.

Someone posted a link to the new forums. That thread got shut down. That’s kind of strange, since a google search shows where it’s at.

You’re free to have a discussion in any of a variety of media, including any discord server, as Monumental has no control over what’s said in those channels.

ooh ill have a look on google…

There are so many game websites with empty boundless forums, guess I’m searching the wrong thing…

I was able to find it when they first made the announcement, but I can’t find it now - I’m assuming something changed.
