Even if the intent was not there on the part of the developers, they are being treated as loot boxes. Sometimes because players did not have enough information to understand what they would get as in the biome selection. And sometimes because they are looking for a good distribution of resources or new colors. This is only going to continue for the foreseeable future unless something changes. Players want to get something they are happy with since they are paying for it and some of the developer decisions are making it harder for that to happen.
Not even talking about colors or actual shapes of biomes, what bothered me the most was the weather.
On a Creative World, youād think youād have control over that. I wanna have that sweet-spot where it doesnāt rain too often, and where it snows only during Oortmasā¦
Though Iād rather have no snow at all because the effect feels just like āHey look at this blank shader that ruins all your buildās aesthetic! Itās fun, right? RIGHT?ā.
Weather definitely looks like an important option to add going down the road.
Yeah, Iām really toying with and torn on doing a reroll of my first world myself. This isnāt so much the loot box appeal, though it IS fun to see and anticipate what Iām going to get here - $10 for a whole planet for a month really is quite a deal, to me! More about that, as beautiful as my first world is (and it will be a bit of a bother mapping a new one and setting the colors back to what they were) I made a big oops in one of the biome selections - Trench really messed up about 2/3s of my world.
On the flip side, with my 2nd, I think I figured out how to get a chance at a gleam jackpot - Gleam Lake + Sky Pattern. I want to try it again for the heck of it, see if I can get them, as they appear to on my 2nd, merging for a massive area of sky gleam again.
But I donāt want to be doing this (rerolls for chance at better on same world type, with intent of only keeping one of the type) if the devs frown on it - any hint theyāre not liking this, I wonāt. I mean, you all are looking at the ditz here who managed to put in her username wrong⦠caused a delay in my rental, actually was going to just write off the $10 rather than bugging them. Iām just mentioning this to emphasize that I really donāt want to cause problems here⦠BUT, before I get attached too much to my first world, if Iām REALLY wanting to build a lot here and make it a long-term investment, perhaps it is worth it to me to drop a bit more $$$ and try to get it right?
Edit: Just bought my new one, couldnāt resist!
I had the same issue on one planet and I am going to reroll to try and get better biomes. It is the one I want to build on and I ended up with a very mountainous planet. . not optimal for what I want to build unless I want to spend 90% of the time terraforming.
I am going for colors needed by my guild for their planned Sovereign builds and my second world and debating doing a third the same way.
Yeah I do not think players intent is to create issues, but the game mechanics and the way planets are created encourage this. If I am going to be using these planets for a few years in order to build on or to be a source of resources then I am willing to spend some time and money upfront to get it right. If I was just planning on playing the game for a few months then it would not even be worth renting to begin with. I am probably not alone in taking this approach. I do think (even though it is unlikely) that if the developers would provide additional information on biomes and how they work and affect each other in topography and weather they could eliminate some of the rerolls. I also think if players could select colors from all 255 , they could eliminate a larger number of the rerolls. Despite the fears of some players, so far players seem very willing to let other players gather and mine on their planets. And why not? They can generate footfall coin if they allow other players and in the end nothing can be exclusive to one planet anyway.
I just rent a planet⦠We will see how it turns outā¦
I have a picture In my head but i doubt its like that haha.
I think higher tiers have water level on different altitude than some lower ones⦠Maybe some biomes look wierd cause of that.
Itās funny how different tastes and opinions differ. Before settling in, I looked for a place where I was sure it was going to snow or rain regularly. It brings an undeniable charm and inspires me a lot in my creations. Weather hazards contribute a lot to the immersion in the game. If I like Boundless, it is only for its recipe for creation in survival condition
I donāt think that will be the case as the water level is always at height 62, as the reflection map only works at that height currently
Whatever youāre looking for on your world, on a Creative World, you should be able to get it.
From what I understand, some biomes are defined as āwetā, for example. These will define how much rain you get.
But when you order your world (or rather when I ordered mine, maybe they already changed the form, but I doubt it), you have no indications which biomes might have weather-impacting specificalities.
If the devs donāt change something, next world I order (if/when I order another one), Iāll be waaay more picky on my biomes and take 0 icy/desert biomes, and just one or two basic forest biomes⦠not even sure if Iāll risk taking more mountain biomes, in case they could cause more snowfallsā¦
Maybe its just the biomes that make me Feel like that
Yes I understand this aspect. It is true that I also see the creative mode as a truly creative editor on a planetary scale. I agree with you on this point.
be careful a jungle biome will generate rain based on what I have been told
The biome with the super tall trees like on Arie, is that a ājungle biomeā?
If soā¦

I mean, in a game like Creativerse, you can immediately tell which is a jungle, which is a forest because they have very distinctive textures (big leaves with hanging vines in jungle zones, for example).
Boundless only has 3 textures of leaves, 3 textures of woodā¦
Is ancient wood used for jungles? Whatās the codification for that?
I can tell whatās a swamp because of how much water there is⦠I guess.
I think the tall trees are redwoods biome, but as far as if that means rainy, I have no clue. .
Did anyone request biomes and NOT get them in their sovereign? I wanted mud flats and got zero, but got three fields of ash I didnāt ask for.
I will probably end up rerolling my planet, even though I really like the mass amount of redwoods.
I got one for building massive structures, but I need to grind up the plots required to build it. So Iām not sure if Iāll continue to pay for one until I have the plots needed to build my epic monstrosity.
On my latest planet I selected the lighted mushroom biome on a blast planet and it seems like half the world is covered in ice now. I thought it would end up being a relatively small area given the world type.
it is my understanding that the biomes drive the weather and not the planet tier or type
So how long has it been taking to spawn worlds now that itās slowed down a (tiny) bit?
I just got a planet in under an hour from the time it was ordered.
